The house The Scent of Mediterranean is located at the beginning of the bay of Stari Grad on the island Hvar, surrounded by family villas. Although little, this house has the soul and warmth of a kind host. Due to the Mediterranean climate on island Hvar you are welcome to stay here from the beginning of April till the end of October, even during the whole year.
There is less than five minutes walk from the house to the beautiful, warm sea and the main beach with pebbly and cliffs. The old town centre is 15 minutes walk away and the road passes through the deep shade of pine trees.

About Stari Grad
Croatia is the European, Mediterranean country with more than thousand islands. One of them is Hvar, the sunniest of them, which is proclaimed as one between ten the most beautiful island s in the world. The island Hvar is famous for its pleasant Mediterranean climate. It is characterized by gentle winters, warm summers and many hours of sunshine (2,718 hours a year). Economy is based on tourism, fishing, farming, viticulture, olive growing and especially on cultivation of rosemary and lavender.
Stari Grad on island Hvar has often daily ferry connections to Split, other Croatian harbors (two times a week to Dubrovnik and Rijeka during the season) and to Ancona in Italy. There is a very good, modern highway across Croatia to Split and the airport quite near this city.
Visit Stari Grad (old Pharos), small town on the island Hvar, be part of its 2300 year old history. It was based by old Greeks in 384 B.C. and you can see numerous archaeological sites.
Stari Grad plain and the Historic centre of Stari Grad were inscribed on UNESCO List of the World Heritage sites on July 8th, 2008. The famous Procession “Following the Cross”, which holds each year from the 17th century on Maundy Thursday before Easter, is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, too.

We spent a very good time in "Mediterranean Scent" apartment in Stari Grad. We particularly thank the owner for her very kind welcoming and her good advice (for example she went to pick us up at the ferry harbour). The apartment is very well situated: it is very calm and you can go to Stari Grad easily by foot, through a beautiful path. Moreover, the terrace is very nice. Last, but not least, the apartment is well equiped, with a washing machine and a dish washer.

I would like to recommend this apartment to anyone seeking a tranquil haven, which is within easy walking distance of the harbour and the centre of Stari Grad. We found the apartment spotlessly clean and freshly decorated in a modern, meditteranean style. Everything we needed was to hand, from extra bedding, a heater and all cooking utensils. The garden forms an additional living space and in Summer one can enjoy barbeques surrounded by scents from the herb garden.
Our hostess, Davorka, was wonderful, providing lots of travel advise on email before our trip and even meeting us at the ferry port upon arrival. Davorka was always on hand throughout our stay with advise, yet always respecting our privacy.

We (4 friends)stayed in Davorka´s apartment for one week. We went out with our Mountain bikes all days and were on several different beaches every day. It was such a great holiday on the island of Hvar! Davorka´s apartement was really perfect for us. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, living room with kitchen (very well equipped!). The apartment was modern and very nice with a stonewall in the living room. We had two terasses outside, both with table and chairs, one terasse had a stone barbecue (we loved it!), the other terrasse had two long chairs! And we even had a outside shower, really great! Everything was so nice and clean, we missed nothing! The owner Davorka was so nice with us, she welcomed us already at the ferry port (even though we arrived only at 22:30pm!), she brought us the Wlan stick (internet was for free!) every evening and gave us useful information for our trips around the island. The apartment is only 10min walk away from one of the beaches and the center of Stari Grad. You have two supermarkets in 15min walk distance, but we were faster with our bikes which we rented in the center of Stari Grad (you can ask for bikes at the city information). The ferry is also 15min walk distance from the apartment. Most of the villages on the island Hvar can be reached by bike in day trips, very nice landscape and we did several stops on different beaches! Stari Grad is a cute town, we liked it very much! But a trip to the main town Hvar is a must, too. There is a bus line going from Stari Grad to Hvar approx.every hour and it takes about 25 min one way over the mountains. The main town Hvar is more touristic, but has very nice buildings, a lot of sailing boats and many restaurants, bars and discos for the night, so you have to visit it, too. We can absolutely recommend Davorka´s nice apartment, the location is great for relaxing holidays and the price-value is really good. We loved it and would come back another summer!!!

The house is located in a quiet part of Stari Grad. It is surrounded by beautiful villas with wonderful gardens and plenty of greenery. The city center and the nearest beach is a 5-minute walks by the sea, in the shade of typical Dalmatian trees with wonderful odor. The apartment has everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen contains all the necessary appliances for cooking (even the oven), but we did not cook because the island is full of beautiful Dalmatian restaurant with a great selection of food so we had a full gourmet experience too. Both apartments are bright, clean, airy, spacious. The gorund floor has two large terraces, both with chairs and lounges and is ideal for people with children. The top one also has a large terrace, high ceilings, and same space. Garden around the house is beautiful, with lots of spices, olive trees, masonry grill, outdoor shower and a decorative fountain. The landlady is very friendly, always available for any kind of help or advice. Hvar island is beautiful, with lots of secluded beaches where you can bathe all by yourself and those popular with outdoor discos. We went up to the town of Hvar, and came to the conclusion that Stari Grad is definitely the best place for accommodation at islad Hvar because it has the most beautiful combination of everything you need for a good holiday, and is positioned so that you can quickly get to other places on the island. We really enjoyed this beautiful apartment, a beautiful old town, the island of Hvar and wonderful landlady Davorka.

We are guests of Mrs Davorka for 10 years. She is just excellent host, very helpful, cheerful and so kind. Each year there are always new details in the house. Apartment is situated in very calm part of Stari Grad, so it is excellent if you are searching for peace and quite during vacation. The house is decorated in the mediterranean style with nice blue and white colors of furniture. Apartment is equipped with all house needed stuff so we felt like we were at home. Outside there is a beautiful garden with lots of mediterranean plants, fountain, stony wall with the illumination and barbecue where you can prepare delicious fish or meat. There are also two terraces so you combine it as there is a sun. The beach is like 5 min walk from the apartment, where you can find small bar, lots of sunny place and also places in the shadow. The center of Stari Grad is 12 min of nice walk by the sea. All in all, in the "Mediterranean Scent" we spent our best summer holidays! We will come back again!

We stayed two weeks in this beautiful house. It is very clean, peaceful and nice place. Furniture is fantastic, yard is full of beautiful plants, there is even herbs which you can use. We felt like at home, not like we're in a rented apartment. Ms. Davorka was very helpful explaining to us where we can go for shopping, where are the most beautiful beaches, and the places worth visiting. Stari Grad and this apartment is definitely one of most beautiful places I ever been.

The friendly hostess very obliging. Fully equipped apartment like at home. Near the cozy beaches with showers. Apartment is in a quiet area connected to the centum promenade along the sea. The best is the fact that the apartment is available for a 4-5 person family. Absolutely recommended. I'm sure we will back here in the future
