Murni's Houses are built in a traditional Balinese walled compound. Step through the gate and you enter a world of tranquility, filled with Balinese art, that's just a few minutes' walk from the main street of Ubud. We have 6 different lodgings.
The Suite has one bedroom with a queen size bed, a living room in which the couch is also a single bed, bathroom, electronic safe, private veranda and private entrance. For a single, a couple, or a couple with a child.

US$70 per night, plus 10% government tax and 5% service charge.
For those times you don't want to go to tow...n, you can have your meals on the large veranda, or your personal veranda in your house.
Wander round the garden and enjoy Murni's collection of stonecarvings by Wayan Cemul, one of Bali's most famous sculptors and living treasures. Born in 1927, he is Murni's father's cousin. Cemul produces non-conventional statues that are quintessentially Balinese in character and full of comic playfulness.
Murni's Houses have 220/50HZ electricity, hot running water, flow-through ventilation and are fully mosquito-screened. Included are fans, blankets and a mini-bar. There is day and evening room service from our internationally famous restaurant, Murni’s Warung, just three minutes away.

We can arrange tours, courses or activities (such as cooking classes, a session with the medicine man from Eat, Pray, Love, white water rafting, elephant safari park trip with a ride on an elephant, bicycle drive through the villages, bird walks, tarot reading, snorkeling or scuba diving or a boat trip to a deserted island) for you. and offer very comfortable transportation at a reasonable cost to anywhere on the island. Just give us a bit of notice.
Note that there is no pool - yet. If you want a lovely pool, have a look at Murni's Villas. You can also use the pools at nearby hotels for a small fee.
We have our own spa Tamarind Spa at Murni's Houses. Trip Advisor’s Attractions in Ubud, based on guests’ experiences and reviews, lists Tamarind Spa at Murni’s Houses as one of the top attractions.

My wife and I stayed two nights in Murni's Bungalow and another three nights in the Suite. The Bungalow was really interesting and romantic, but we ended up liking the Suite a little better. The high light of our stay was chatting with Murni. She's an Ubud institution in her own right. She's quite charming and full of tales of the old days in Ubud. Murni's is located in a good place at the top of a little hill well above the main street. It's quiet at night except for the occassional call of the ubiquitous Balinisian rooster. The staff at Murni's was excellent as well. I felt very comfortable with them and enjoyed catching them at a quiet moment for a chat. When we return to Bali, we will stay at Murni's again. Read more

Staying at the Suite at Murni's was a delight. The attention to detail from the tea and coffee and breakfast on the veranda, the thermos of cool drinking water, the shelves of books, to the sarongs in the wardrobe, all were designed to contribute to a comfortable stay. There is an attractive blend of traditional and modern with attention to a well functioning bathroom and a fridge. The high ceilings and the fans ensure cool sleeping. The traditional Balinese bed in the living room space provides a tempting reading nook. The Suite provides a get away from the pressures of daily life, a place where one could sit and write or dream! Step outside the attractive garden and within a few minutes you are in the bustle of shopping streets. Service was unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Read more

This was our second stay at Murnis and the warm welcome combined with the intimate feel of the place made us feel very much at home. The location is perfect being just a casual stroll from the centre of Ubud but at the same time being out of the madding crowd. There is a sense of being transported back to a time when people and places really mattered. The staff are outstanding and the gardens are a delight. The older buildings are traditional timber and bamboo with no glass or airconditioning but this adds to the charm and gives you the rare chance to hear and feel the world around you slumber and then awake with the a fresh dawn. My husband and I recently stayed in Murnis Houses for one week while in Ubud. Our room was very clean and spacious, breakfast was great and the houses are right in the middle of Ubud which is convienient for walking to restaurants and stores. One oversight which might have just been my fault was that I did not realize Murni houses and Murni villas are in two separate locations (20min apart). The villas are where the pool is located and the houses do not have a pool. Was pretty bumbed about this. We were told we could go to the villas and use the pool, but due to distance there and back that interfered with our schedule a bit so we ended up paying to use another hotel's pool very close. Other then that the house was cozy and clean, the staff was very warm, welcoming and professional, and the grounds where our house was located was very peaceful. The spa was also wonderful and my massage was perfect! Well worth the $$$. Read more
I am very pleased that the room was excellent, the breakfast was great and the staff very warm. Stayed for 7 nights in The Suite in late May 2013, and can't say enough good things about the experience.
The location is perfect. The houses are located high up on a hill that is quietly away from city life, but literally just a 5 minute walk from the center of town. The complimentary breakfasts at Murni's are delicious...the fresh fruit & yogurt are to die for! The Suite was spacious and very thoughtfully decorated in traditional Balinesian form. It included a gorgeous carved daybed (perfect for reading), and thoughtful amenities like a fridge, safe, coffee/tea maker, umbrellas, even a saraong/sash for visits to local temples. The outdoor veranda area was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. I also had dinner delivered them from Murni's Warang several times. The grounds of the Houses are lush & beautiful. Very calming with stone carvings, buddha fountains, etc. The spa services on site were great too. I had several massages and highly recommend Mini. :) Murni was very friendly and all the staff extremely accomodating...helping me with any issues that popped up during my stay. I would definitely stay there again! Read more

Stepping into Murni's garden is like stepping into another world. Although just minutes from Ubud's bustling main street one quickly relaxes in this haven of calm and tranquillity; with at least ten assorted, well placed water features one is never far from the gurgling, soothing sound they create.
The Suite is furnished well, spacious, comfortable; I particularly liked the patterned entrance doors and the magnificent, carved wooden Chinese Wedding bed - had it flat-packed it might have come home with us!
The effective insect netting covering the window frames gives a wonderful feeling of sleeping outdoors - serenaded nightly by cicada, frog and gecko.
Murni's love for antiquities and her discerning eye are apparent throughout this small complex and add so much to it's appeal.
The staff are all very friendly, courteous and willing to help in any way they can.
I also highly recommend Tamarind Spa for a few hours of wonderful pampering from the lovely ani and team - bliss! Read more

It makes you feel that much more appreciative of the owner of your accommodation when she has thought of providing umbrellas, a torch, plug adaptors as well as beautiful, immaculately clean premises with friendly and helpful staff. If this sounds a little over the top it's because we felt that Murni's did give us that bit more than we expected. The location was great, the buildings were very attractive and the lady on Reception couldn't have been more helpful with a lovely smile to accompany every communication. Murni also invited us to observe her family's Temple celebrations when we expressed an interest, and the traditional sweetmeats arrived as soon as we appeared. We would have liked to have spent longer at this lovely small hotel but it was booked up ,not surprisingly. We would recommend a stay at Murni's wholeheartedly. Read more

Our four day stay at Murni's was very special. The Suite is huge and absolutely charming, with a veranda, living room, bedroom, and bath. It's built in old Bali style, decorated with antiques, and set on the second floor overlooking flowering trees and beautiful gardens. The fact that the unit is cooled by ceiling fans rather than air conditioning only adds to its charm. The best part of our stay was Murni herself, a warm and wonderful woman, who chatted with us each morning at breakfast, helped us plan our days, and even invited us to go for a drive and to join her for lunch at her Villas, another beautiful set of units she rents out in the countryside. If we return to Bali, which we do hope we can do someday, we will certainly return to Murni's and would consider dividing our time between the Villas, set in the beautiful countryside, and the Houses, located so conveniently close to the center of Ubud. Thank you Murni for a memorable stay. Read more

This is an amazing place to stay in Ubud. The location is perfect...walking distance to everything in town, but just far enough away from the town's center that it feels like a refuge. The Suite is one of a collection of accommodations at Murni's Houses that are each unique and private but, all together, create a wonderful little community for travelers. The setting and decor is traditional Balinese and I can't say enough about the loveliness of the staff. Murni herself is a wonderful presence on the grounds of Murni's Houses and an amazing source of information about all things Bali for the interested traveler. Murni's Warung (her shop and restaurant) are just down the hill and the proximity of both is another huge plus to staying here.

We stayed in the suite which sported majestic wood carved beds and a gr8 view of the stunning gardens below. The staff wee friendly with excellent customer service skills. We spent 2 nights at Murni's Houses. We arrived in Ubud with very little plan, hoping that the town and the staff at the villa would be able to help us make the most of our time. And they did. For starters, the villa that we stayed in was amazing. The place was very well kept and the sleeping quarters were exceptionally clean. We were able to eat breakfast on our terrace...and the breakfast was very good (must try the yogurt). As for the staff, I have nothing but good things to say about them. We had nothing arranged and no plans, but they took it upon themselves to figure out what activities worked best and make sure we were able to make the most of our trip. They even surprised us with a visit to the Coffee plantation on our last day, which ended up being a highlight of our trip. Also, don't forget to stop in at Murni's Warung...the food is very good. Overall, Murni's provided us with a great stay and great time in Ubud and we thank them for that. Definitely recommended. Read more

Murni's is an amazing little compound! When we were staying there we met a 90 year old woman who said she's been to Bali 19 times and Murni's is her absolute favorite place to stay, so I think that says it all! :)
Their staff is extremely friendly. The rooms are more like little apartments, very spacious and very cutely decorated. The spa is within the compound so you don't even have to leave the grounds to get a treatment. We had complimentary breakfast every morning: eggs made to order, bacon, bowl of fruit, amazzzing yogart, and tea.
There are several fountains through out the ground so you hear a very pretty sound of water flowing, which is very relaxing. The location is perfect. Right on a main road for shopping and restaurants, but Murni's is up a little driveway so you feel like you're in an oasis away from all the action, its perfect location wise.
She also has a beautiful garden for you to gaze at while in your room, or eating breakfast. Lots of really cool Balinise statues. They will also arrange drivers and day trips for you among many other services! Go to Murni's! Read more

I was initially reluctant to book a longer stay because I was aware Murnis Houses did not have a swimming pool or air conditioning however I did not miss them at all. The owners and staff were so friendly and accommodating, nothing was a problem and I felt really secure and happy. The suite was lovely with everything to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable provided and the surrounds were peaceful. It was an easy 5 minute walk to the center of Ubud to all the shops and the market. I enjoyed the food at Murnis which was of excellent quality and a very reasonable price and the breakfast provided was fantastic. Murni's is a very special place - such a feeling of being home. The Suite is a spacious "apartment" so you never feel cramped or like you're in a 'hotel'. Beautifully furnished, clean and modern.
Everyone of the staff memebers (as well as Murni and Jonathan) bend over backwards to make your stay in Ubud memorable.
So convenient to everything - a quick 3 min. walk to Murni's restaurant (or they deliver to your room!) or walk 5 min. in the opposite direction and you're in the middle of Ubud shopping and restaurants.
And of course the spa is incredible and a great value!
