Singapore, SingaporeEngagment Surprise Well Planned!
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
After witnessing my friend's proposal in april 2012, I was so impressed with Villa Santai that I had to go back there for my own proposal. During the planning stages, the owner and his staff were very helpful in planning my proposal, giving valuable advice on how I can execute my engagement to my fiancée.
During my proposal night, I was really impressed with the arrangement that was made for my special event! The villa was transformed into one of those romantic scene you see in movies – complete with candles lighting up the place, words floating on the infinity pool and a spectacular fireworks display to celebrate the moment my fiancée!!
For top quality service, Villa Santai is the place to stay when you go Bali. -

Sydney, New South Wales, AustraliaA piece of heaven
Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012
I had never booked a holiday rental overseas before this and I was somewhat nervous about it. However I am so glad that I did. Villa Santai was magnificent and the staff and service was absolutely incredible. We were a party of five aussie mums looking for a bit of peace, relaxation, adventure, culture and luxury and I am happy to say we were not at all disappointed. Made and Dedy organised everything from day spa's to a visit with Ketut Liyer (eat pray love). They had arranged for the wonderful Ketut (a private yoga instructor) to come to our villa and we even did silver making classes and a trip to the volcano. The food was sensational and we never wanted for anything. Being out of the centre of Ubud (A$7 taxi fare) we felt like we belonged to the local village. From walks along the rice fields to a very special visit to the temple with the beautiful ayu, we were completely enthralled. We would never have had such an amazing experience if we had of booked a hotel. Thank you so much to all the beautiful staff at Villa Santai, leaving felt like saying goodbye to old friends. We look forward to visiting you soon.

Maffliers - Val d'oisesuperbe villa ... à améliorer
Left on 07/13/2012 for a stay in April 2011
The owner has made heavy renovations since our stay. -

An amazing experience. Located above a river valley, you can hear the soothing rush of the water all day and night. You feel as if you are literally hovering above the jungle. Staff was perfectly balanced between present and invisible. The villa itself is essentially four bedrooms, an invisible edge pool and a giant outdoor living and dining room. Very hard to leave.

Mumbai (Bombay), IndiaTerrific villa in Ubud
Left on 02/01/2012 for a stay in December 2011
We stayed here with 4 families with children ranging from age 6 months to 7 years. The kids had an awesome time in the pool. The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. The drivers were great. No complaints about this place. It is well located to central Ubud - 10 minute drive. And you can wander around the Villa and see rice Paddies and a river below. if you have small children it is a little dangerous with stairs and cliffs, but we managed all of that pretty easily by locking doors and limiting access to certain areas for the kids. And for better or for worse, the TV was a great distraction while parents enjoyed evening drinks in the Pagodas. We did not use them, but I think the staff would have been willing babysitters.
In December there is a lot of traffic in Ubud, so that is no fun. Prior to Ubud we spent 3 nights in Seminyak and did not enjoy it nearly as much. Go to Ubud, stay here. It's a bit of paradise -

Gorgeous villa with fantastic staff. Villa is situated in a beautiful valley so you feel very relaxed and alone. The staff will do anything for you and were lovely people. The villa is spacious and pleasant. Air conditioning in the rooms would be the only recommendation we had.

San Francisco, CaliforniaMagical, calming paradise
Left on 09/19/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Villa Santai is a taste of paradise nestled in the hills of Tenah Merah, Ubud. Its warm, friendly staff welcomes you into the Villa, immediately making you feel relaxed and at home. The food is delicious and cooked from local ingredients.
The location is breathtaking. The moment you enter the Villa, you will be impressed by the amazing view of the jungle and valley through the first floor. It is impossible not to take a moment and look around at the beautiful view. There is an infinity pool overlooking the valley, and sometimes you can spot monkeys in the trees. It's a perfect place to relax and unwind away from the activity of the city of Ubud. It is close enough that you can take a ride into town in their car, and they can pick you up as well. It's easy to coordinate with them. They also have great ideas for walks or treks to the river or through the jungle.
I love that it's a bit secluded, so you feel like you are really in a special place up in the hills. The nearby villages, rice fields and temples are beautiful too, and there really are not many tourists around, if any.
The rooms are spacious, with incredibly large closets and a porch that wraps around the villa, where you can read a book or watch the sunrise. The sunset is equally as impressive, and casts beautiful colors of pink and coral in the sky, that reflect onto the infinity pool. It's incredibly magical, incredibly relaxing, and amazingly luxurious. The staff adds to the warmth. I can't wait to go again. -

Darwin, AustraliaA Very Special Place
Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We stayed for 3 nights at Villa Santai and would recommend to anyone that is looking for a truly enjoyable and special Villa. The villa itself it very well maintained and exceptionally decked out, it is very private although on 5 or 10 minutes to town and has the best view over the valley, all you hear is the river, birds and monkeys.
The outdoor living and pool is all open with views all around, the bedrooms have amazing views too, all looking over the valley and with small private balcony's in case you want to get away from the rest of you party.
One of the highlights is the staff, they are very caring and we decided not to order from the menu but as the chef to cook traditional food and what he wanted to, one of the best decisions as the food was the best of the whole holiday, and after the first night we decided to stay in every night for dinner.
This is not your commercial villa, it is more like a home and would recommend it to anyone that wants that experience and I am unable to come up with any negatives other than I wish I booked it for longer.

We were looking for a relaxing get away that would also provide a totally new experience. Villa Santi gave us a feeling of being in an exotic place with complete relaxation and great service. The staff anticipated our needs and met them almost without us noticing they were there. It was completely relaxing and peaceful. The villa is surrounded by jungle and we could often see monkeys. It was also close enough to the city to enjoy the arts and culture of the county. Staff was available to take us to the city - and they were even more helpful there. The staff knew where to go and how to help us communicate. This was the perfect vacation and met every expectation I had.

What a great experience! Nestled deep in the rice fields of Ubud. A fantastic location and a great staff. From the pick up at the airport, to the daily meals, nothing was less than perfect. The food was fantastic, the rooms, and living area were beatifully decorated and comfortable. I would highly recommend this villa. What a wonderful time, I can't wait to return.
