BangkokAn absolutely amazing Villa, Staff, Location and Experience
Left on 04/19/2013 for a stay in April 2013
There are very little words to describe the beauty of Villa Madu, period, absolutely stunning. Everything from the staff, food, ammenities, location, check in/out service, was 5 stars and beyond.
The staff of 6 prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner everynight, and every meal we had was delicious.
The house is an open air setting and absolutely lovely.
Do yourself and your family a favor and book a vaction at this Villa, you will not be disappointed.
Thanks again to the Staff and Ms. O, we can't wait to come back and stay!!

Left on 04/17/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My family and I had high expectations for our recent Ubud holiday and adrienne and her delightful staff at Villa Madu helped fulfill our expectations and more.
Villa Madu is very well appointed and offers all the comforts of home in a tranquil and relaxed setting.
The Villa is a wonderful haven to return to at the end of a busy day exploring the sites in and around Ubud.
The lush gardens and pool are a great place to chill out and refresh or recharge.Having the two bungalows located at the bottom of the garden allowed our family of 8 plenty of personal space and privacy. Being located within walking distance to most of the Ubud attractions makes it easy to pop back to the Villa for short breaks if needed.
Nurdi and her staff at Villa Madu contributed greatly to the enjoyment of our stay. Nurdi's wonder breakfasts will be long remembered and her and the other staffs cheery attitude and willingness to help made our stay even more enjoyable.
Based on our experience we have decided to return to Villa Madu again in 2014. -

TorontoHidden gem in Ubud
Left on 02/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This hidden gem is just a 5 minutes walk into town. The entire property is a piece of paradise, and I was glad we decided to take an entire afternoon out of our hectic schedule, to enjoy the facilities. I rented the entire property for 4 nights, and it was worth every cent! The staff took great care of us, and the cook spoilt us with her meals! We ate all our breakfast and dinner at the villa, as the food was amazing! I love the openess of the architecture, and how the buildings flow and blend with the natural surroundings! Another tip - the staff will organise a very nice Balinese dinner party, complete with musicians and Balinese dancers, if you notify them ahead of time. Also, use the services of the driver and vehicle, as the locals know where the best places are!

Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We stayed at Villa Madu in January with 11 people aged 1 to 72 to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. It was fantastic in every way - the villa took our breath away with it beautiful, elegant rooms, lush garden, fish pond and pool. The staff took amazing care of us from entertaining a grumpy baby to offering plentiful cups of tea to our group's 'grandmas'. Adrienne was a joy to deal with and went out of her way to help us sort out travel details and threw in a fantastic birthday celebration complete with feasting, decorations, musicians and dancers. And the food! Nurdi is a truly gifted cook - from her parcels of fish steamed in banana leaves to her amazing ways with tofu and tempeh. We all gained kilos! We couldn't ask for more - thanks so much!

singaporegem of a place
Left on 12/19/2012 for a stay in October 2012
we were a family of 11 (age ranging from 2yrs to 65 yrs) and stayed at villa madu for 6 days. It proved to be an excellent place. Very open, wonderfully furnished, beautifully landscaped, in the heart of ubud ( 10 mins walk from the main shopping area) and yet completely tranquil.
what serves as the cherry on top is the excellent staff. Nurdi's cooking was first class. Do yourselves a favour and have your meals at the villa only. you will get the best food and you just have to pay for the ingredients.
The kitchen is very well equipped incase you feel the urge to indulge in any cooking yourself and nurdi would be there anyways to assist.
The pool, though small is perfect for fun and frolic, and there is a decent sound system too. The instruments all over the house were loved by young and old alike.
Only things to be careful about. The place has open ponds, staircases etc so we had to always keep an eye on the little ones. Also, given the property is very open, lizards abound. And the room upstairs doesnt have a ceiling fan or a/c hence one has to use table fans.
But these were small things, nothing compared to the joy and comfort the place provided us and i would sure to come here again.

Thank you so much for your kind review, and for staying with us. We appreciate your comments and suggestions, and while there is nothing we can do about the geckos, we will certainly install additional fans upstairs. We look forward to your next visit. Adrienne

I would like to thank you for a wonderful stay my family and I enjoyed at Villa Madu recently - a very private hideaway amidst nature. The stay was made even more special by the wonderful service by the staff at the Villa, especially chef Nurdi who is a real gem of a lady who cooked up wonderful dishes for us. They made us feel so at home !
We're already looking forward to our next visit !

We stayed for 13 days in this villa. The villa was in the center of Ubud but it felt like you were in a wonderful jungle. We loved it. The staff is very kind and attentive to your every need. The breakfast, which is included, always had a variety of fruits and fruit smoothie along with different kinds of eggs and side dishes. The beds were very comfortable. I wanted to have a cd of the sounds to sleep and wake up with. You will always hear the frogs, geckos, and rooster. The villa is well kept and cleaned daily. There was four women and we felt very safe as there is 24 hour security at the gate of the villa and the house is very open if you choose it to be. We did. The yard is full of flowers and tropical fruits. It has a great pool. The staff will cook all meals for you if you give them the money to buy the food. The food is much better then most of the restaurants. Pack lightly because laundry is very cheap. The hostess adrienne is very nice and will tell you were the best massages etc. She has a driver available for you. You do really see nature so prepare to see little creatures such as geckos and one day a monkey came into the yard. Would I stay at Villa Madu again. Yes

SydneyA hidden gem with a chef that should be working in a Michelin st
Left on 07/23/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We found Villa Muda on a whim and we were not disappointed. The property is stunning combining two traditional Balinese houses with a lovely contemporary house with fabulous staff. There is a genuine relaxed vibe that comes with the property given it's minutes off the main street, very quiet and overlooks lush rainforest which is mesmerising.
One of the main highlights was the chef. Do yourself a favour and order everything on the menu! We thought the cinnamon banana pancakes were delicious!
The only thing I would say about this property is that for the lovers of fine things, the Balinese houses feel more rustic than modern. But if you have a group of people that enjoy authentic experiences this is the perfect place to combine a number of accommodation preferences.

The location and service at this villa was superb! The staff was friendly and most effficient. We even had security; the breakfast every morning was outstanding and unique. The presentation of the meal was beautiful. Certainly not the continental breakfast roll you get in the states! What I liked the least was having to leave. thank you adrienne and staff for providing wonderful memories.

Eight of us had the absolute pleasure of being adrienne's guests in her gorgeous villa in the jungle. This is such a uniquely beautiful and tranquil property. Setting: It is in the jungle, open air...you hear all the animal sounds and hear the rain and feel the breeze. Yet, a short walk up the street and you are in the center of Ubud. And, if you don't feel like walking, complimentary van rides anywhere into town. Property: Architecturally exquisite. Beautiful bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas, pool, ponds, grounds and the 2 most friendly and loveable dogs. Dining: Nurdi, the head cook, is amazing, as is all the staff. Sumptuous breakfasts and snacks are complimentary and dinner can be easily arranged (for just the price of groceries). We even followed along with Nurdi to the market so she could teach us how she shops and then she showed us how to prepare an Indonesian meal with all the trimmings (our own version of a cooking class). She was infinitely patient with all our questions and was a delight. She is a role model on how to be a better, more relaxed, more adventurous cook and even more on how to be a better person! All the staff was wonderful. Adrienne: the owner/host --It must have been our best fortune to be at Villa Madu at the same time that adrienne was also in Bali (she is not always there). To have had the opportunity to meet her and spend some time with her and have her answer so many of our questions about Bali and the Balinese was priceless. A better host would be impossible to find. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for 5 days in your paradise. Terima Kasih

We have stayed at Villa Madu on two occasions. Imagine yourself living (for two days, a week, two weeks, forever) in a tropical garden where you can relax completely, surrounded by an environment painted by Rousseau, in a beautiful, clean, traditional yet modern bungalow with all the charm and artistic touches of old world Bali. Sleep in a beautiful room with a romantic setting, swim or relax at the pool which overlooks a river ravine, or take an afternoon nap in the Pondok in the upper garden. The buildings on the property display the arts and culture of Bali, and yet are designed with contemporary conveniences. You will be surrounded by gardens, art and beauty. And this relaxing oasis is located in Ubud, the center of Balinese art and dance. Your every need will be taken care of by the house staff, who are wonderful. Nurdi, the cook is phenomenal, a great cook! She prepared a birthday dinner while we were there, assisted by Dewa and Jero. We fell in love with all of staff, and felt that we were leaving friends at the end of our week. During the day you can walk in a few minutes to Monkey Forest Road, and streets lined with small shops full of wonderful arts and crafts, contemporary clothing, and amazing restaurants. Also there is an internet café minutes away. If you travel with a computer there is reliable wifi through the property. At night you can walk to the Ubud Palace, the Water Palace, or local temples to see Legong, Kecak, and other traditional Balinese dances. We went first to Villa Madu for a romantic getaway, and returned two years later to spend the December holidays with our complete family, (six people)- magic, and a memory we won't forget. We hired a driver to take us to some of the wonderful sites of Bali away from Ubud, returning to the Villa in the evening, but some days, we just stayed "at home”. It just could not get any better.

I had the amazing fortune of falling into a secluded piece of Heaven for an entire month. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful and the solitude made for an amazing experience. I was within walking distance of all the amazing things to see and experience in Ubud...The Monkey Forest, shadow puppet shows, great food and amazingly beautiful temples. The Villa is exquisit and very modern, with a wonderful traditional infusion of Balinese art and furniture...I really never wanted to leave. If you have the opportunity to stay in this oasis it wil be something you will always carry with you. -

One of the things I most value in a villa stay is the feeling of privacy and quiet luxury that is also friendly to the environment. This is especially important in Bali where there are water and electrical issues on this island. That said, I congratulate the owner for building her villa in a quiet and friendly neighborhood and not in middle of what would otherwise be productive rice fields. The villa itself is very peaceful, with a large lush garden, small pool, fish ponds, and a great view overlooking the river. You literally feel like you are in the middle of the jungle, but you are only a few minutes walk from the main road. The rooms are large with very comfortable beds and appointments. The staff are extremely friendly and can't do enough to make your stay relaxing. In fact, if you want to throw a party the kitchen is large enough for a restaurant and the staff will do all the shopping and cooking for you!
All in all, it was a wonderful stay and I would definitely book in again!
