Penestanan Kelod Sayan is a lovely, little rural village on the outskirts of Ubud. The original young artists developed in this area and numerous galleries, shops, restaurants and hotels have been established here. Penestanan is a short five minute drive or approximately 20-25 minutes walk to the center of Ubud. This is a lovely place to be based in order to enjoy the quiet, natural surroundings of the Ubud perimeter, but close enough to conveniently visit the many wonderful dining, shopping and entertainment venues Ubud is so famous for.

I had the pleasure of staying at Sayang Estate in September and it truly was exceptional. The grounds are immaculate spacious and private. The interior simple, airy and elegant.
Many villas in Bali can be a bit "dated" or overdone in decor. Villa Sayang strikes the right cord of authentic Bali feel meets chic modern boutique.
All of our needs were attended to most graciously from delivering wine and motorbikes to Babi guling but we were always given just the right amount of privacy.
Fantastic location. Easy to get to town, restaurants and grocery store.
My very favorite part of the day... breakfast in the open living room bale. Fresh fruits, local honey, yogurt, omelets and the best coffee!

I stayed in Sayang Estate last year during Christmas. Most places were booked and evidently this villa had not been rented out to the public (or at least not much), so it was free. Wow, what a treat.
When I first saw it I felt like I would want to buy this house. It is super private and very new looking. the beds are big and comfortable. the bathrooms are so clean and bright.
the place was built by japanese so the attention to detail is great.
the house is a short walk down a path so it is quiet. you can walk to ubud easily. there are many things to see in this area. i would definitely come again
