Stranraer, United KingdomFantastic apartment in Valletta
Left on 05/04/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We recently stayed for 2 weeks in apartment 3. The apartment was just great, with real attention to detail...it's often the small things that make your stay more pleasant. The apartment was comfortable and exceptionally well equipped, it's hard to find fault with it really.
The owner, Michael was so helpful and friendly despite going through a stressfull house purchase at the time we stayed. His ridiculously handsome sidekick, George, was more than happy to check on us regularly..
Michael had thoughtfully provided bread and other staples, along with a bunch of freesias on our arrival and this level of service was maintained throughout our stay. We were made to feel very welcome and more of a friend than a mere tenant.
The apartment could not have been in a better location. Central, but quiet.
Altogether, a very good holiday flat which I will recommend to everyone.Response from Michael Mercieca - 05/08/2013

From the start all correspondence with Michael was easy and friendly. The apartment looked great from the photos and when we arrived we were pleased to see it lived up to those images. We were met by Trudy the caretaker and Michael came a short while later to make sure we were ok and give us some pointers for places to eat and get groceries in Vallettta. Not only in a great location but the apartment was clean and stylish and I would definitely come back here or recommend it to a friend.

We enjoyed our stay in apartment 2 for four nights. Michael is a great friendly host and the apartment has everything you need. The location is excellent - right by the Lascaris War Rooms and Upper Barracca Gardens. It's just a few blocks off the main shopping street and a quick walk to outside the city walls and the bus stops. We really enjoyed a dinner at Palazzo Preca - deservedly very popular and we'd recommend to make reservations.

Left on 10/06/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We really enjoyed our stay in Valletta and would not have wanted to be in the busier St Julien's area... Although we were almost right "downtown" in this apartment, at night it's quiet. Michael had us picked up at the airport and was a super friendly host. When we mentioned the only change he could make was to put up a curtain to keep out the street light, he agreed! Thank you again Michael!

Carmel, CaliforniaA Dream apartment on the Grand Harbour
Left on 06/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Steps beneath the glorious Upper Barrakka Gardens and overlooking the sweeping Grand Harbour, is Valletta's best kept secret: two charming apartments in a historic house. Centrally located in a quiet, residential section of city, you feel like a local, rather than a visitor. And they make a perfect base for settling in to explore this beautiful baroque Unesco World Heritage city.
The apartments are fully furnished with everything needed to feel comfortably at home. The kitchens have all the required conveniences: toaster, coffee pots, iron, dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc. as well as dish soap, sponges and towels. The apartments are also equipped with an excellent, reliable wi-fi connection.
We chose 61 a and were delighted by the charm and whimsy of the apartment. It was filled with light and very comfortable for two people. We spent 12 glorious days exploring the city but also spending time settled in reading, cooking and mostly ensconced in the "galleria", the traditional enclosed balcony, where a small table with two benches provide a cozy place to eat, write, paint, watch the world go by or just dream.
The sunrises are spectacular and the evening light reflecting off the Three Cities across the harbor enchanting. But most of all, the kindness and service provided by Michael, the owner, was the special touch. He is warm and friendly, extremely knowledgeable and helpful and became a close friend.
For a small fee, Michael will pick you up from the airport and transport you to the apartment, When we arrived, we found he had stocked the kitchen with orange juice, butter, jam, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, local cheese and the delicious, addictive Maltese bread, as well as a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the bedroom/sitting room. He also gave us a map, marking all the destinations we were interested in, as well as food shops, fruit and vegetable markets and restaurants.
It was all so magical we are already planning a return visit! -

Accommodation is very clean and comfortable, an ideal size for two on a self catering break. We were greeted by Michael on arrival who was very helpful with information on Valletta, where to buy shopping and recommended restaurants.
This apartment is a perfect location for sightseeing Malta and has a great view of the Grand Harbour from its balcony.
Strongly recommend this accommodation.Response from Michael Mercieca - 05/20/2012

Left on 04/09/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We have just stayed in this convenient location, a short walk from the Upper Barracca Gardens and with views of the harbour. We were withing walking distance of everything inside the old city of Valletta.
The apartment is simply furnished, but with everything you could require from tourist guides, books to read, TV and music as well as a stove and fridge if you wish to self cater.
The host, Michael is very helpful - he spent over an hour with us on our first day, giving us information about the apartment and Valletta itself. He recommended some great cafes and restaurants, well patronised by the locals.
We were very happy with the location and the clean liittle apartment we called home for a few days. -

Left on 11/05/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Our appartment couldn't have been more comfortable or in a better location. It comprised a small but very functional kitchen which lacked for nothing in the way of utensils etc and included basics for cooking (e.g. oil, salt & pepper, fresh bread and milk etc. supplied by the owner). Down one step but separated by a breakfast bar was the area containing the bed, TV, sitting area etc. Then alongside the bed were the French Doors onto the little balcony, just perfect for happy hour! Sadly the view of the Grand Harbour from our balcony was partially obscured by a building, however our sideview was wonderful. We loved this place; It is small but functional, spotlessly clean and best of all, is in a fabulous location. The bed is very comfortable (by australian standards). The bathroom is tiny but perfectly adequate for two and is in perfect working order. This appartment is walking distance to most of the attractions of Valetta (although some of the streets of Valetta are quite steep). It is also an easy walk (although hilly) to the bus terminal to catch public transport for sites further away (all very easy!). The appartment owner is extremely hospitable and made us feel very welcome and very much at home. He has a wealth of information about great restaurants and worthwhile sites to see. We really enjoyed his company (along with his cat George) when he was out and about working around his properties. I have no hesitation in recommending this appartment and would certainly go back given the opportunity.

From prelimary enquiry to arrival, the owner, Michael, was helpful and friendly.
He provided us with suggestions of where to eat and buy groceries and the welcoming coffee was most appreciated. He gave us a contact number in case we had any queries and even booked our return taxi to the airport. We stayed in apartment 2 and would gladley stay again. -

We stayed in apartment 1 and spent many happy hours enjoying the great view from the verandah, don't miss the "golden hour" for photos as the sun is setting. Michael was very helpful, providing milk, bread etc. on our arrival and giving us the breakdown on restaurants and shops. We used La Mere which was great however we were disappointed on Saturday evening as we had not booked. Wembley stores was good for bread, Micallef in Triq St. Paul was fine for milk, water and wine, M&S; was a disappointment for food. Michael helped ou out splendidly with our late evening departure.

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in May 2011
Large bedroom/sitting room/kitchen, with ensuite shower. Nicely furnished, and one the ground floor of an old building. Quiet area - very central for attractions in town . There is a balcony for breakfast and having tea/coffee on which includes a view of the Grand Harbour (but note - the window looks directly out to a house - the view is one the left hand side of the balcony).
Our stay here was very comfortable. Michael the owner was extremely helpful, and helped us to find the right places to visit in town, and also took us to and from the airport for a small charge.
If you want to do any self catering, then make sure you know where the stores and market are - there are only a few places in town that sell food items. The Empire Stores is good, but fairly expensive. There are many restaurants and cafes in town. -

My daughter ( Vicky) and I stayed in this apartment for a week ( 04.06.11 to 11.06.11). I had booked it with my partner who died suddenly and my daughter decide to come and keep me company. Michael arranged for an extra bed in the apartment, he also provided the basics for us, bread, water, milk, tea, coffee and fruit juice as we arrived late on Saturday evening. The apartment was clean and well equpped. It is everything it says on the website. You could not find a better landlord, Michael was so helpful and friendly. The view over the Grand Harbour is to die for. Five minutes walk away from shopping, restaurants and buses. Oh the Maltese bus experience, not to be missed, unfortunately they are disappearing on 3 July to be taken over by arriva. Cleaner, more comfortable, I know but not so much fun. I do hope arriva will be as cheap...54 cents for an hours busride to Golden Bay.,47 cents to Marsaxlokk. We also took a tour of the island by Hop on, Hop off sightseeing bus, also very good. We had no problems at all with any transport, if you treat people properly and are polite and use timetables , no issues. You would not believe the number of people we saw who did not know which number bus to get on , what times they were and then complained to the driver and never said please or thank you. Of course buses are late sometimes, traffic happens in this country too!! A fantastic holiday all in all and I will be back , I have seen most of the sights but just for a relaxing holiday I would go again.

The apartment was a little gem in Valletta. The view of the Grand Harbour is an amazing way to start and end one's day -- sitting on the little balcony and taking it in with a cup of coffee or glass of wine. I hope to return to Malta soon and would stay here again.
