Central to the Clare Valley wine district, one and a half hours drive north of Adelaide, the Devonshire House is truly a part of South Australia's colonial heritage.Devonshire House (built in 1856 as the Devonshire Hotel), now provides three luxury self-contained apartments. Spacious and private, each apartment is elegantly furnished and decorated to make your stay truly memorable.
The Clare Valley boasts over 30 wineries making it one of Australia's premium wine growing regions.
The area is also renowned for its fine old stone buildings. Mintaro is a heritage listed village and leisurely walks through the streets reward the visitor with an insight to our past. We provide a brochure that describes the places of interest in the Mintaro region.
Martindale Hall is a mansion of grand proportions, and is definitely worth a visit. The heritage township of Burra is half an hour's drive from Mintaro where once again mid 19th century architecture and the famous copper mines are definite attractions.
There is a vast array of dining options in the Clare Valley from alfresco lunches on vine clad verandas at many wineries to candlelit dinners in fine restaurants.
Art galleries, antique and craft shops also add to the wide variety of 'things to see and do' in the Clare Valley. The Clare Tourist Office is open 7 days and is a recommended starting-point to help plan your itinerary.
