“The Perfect Relaxing Vacation!!!” This house was perfect for our family of 5. My husband and son fished off the beach and off the private dock. We also brought our own jet skis and were able to keep them at the dock. My girls and I loved being able to relax and sunbath on our private beach. The house had everything we could possibly need for our week long stay. All the amenities of home. The views were breathtaking, and we loved waking up to a beautiful sunrise right in front. This is the perfect place to get away from everyday life.

“Great View ... BUT” if you are traveling with kids ... I like my bedroom on a separate floor so they can stay up late, etc. There was no "kid space" in this house. Also, kitchen wasn't as well equipped as I was used to. But the VIEW was incredible. Just wish some of the other houses I stayed in where on this plot of land!!!

“Amazing Captiva Vacay! Can't wait to come back to our 2nd home!~” My family of six absolutely fell in love with Captiva! Our location was perfect as we were steps from the beach, activities and places to dine. The chill environment lends to a relaxing , yet indulgent week. The sunsets are breathtaking as well as all of the lush surroundings. Our home was clean, quaint and completely inviting for my 7 year old twins as well as teens. While it was nice to walk down the street to dine, it was preferable to stay on the beach as long as possible and dine in followed by a beautiful sunset/moonlit walk on the beach!

“Perfect resort for our family-- close to bay, beach, and downtow” Stayed in Unit 3a, perfect for our family of five. Clean, quiet resort on narrow part of the island so beach and bay are both very close. Great access to pool which is well maintained and much appreciated by my three kids. This unit is great value in this resort.. we will be staying here again.

Relaxing Near Beach Captiva Island Pool Home

Captiva Island house

“Awesome Rental Home on Captiva” Our party of eight had a marvelous week at Millertime Villa. We found the house to be very clean, well furnished, decorated attractively, and comfortable. The lovely beach was less than a five-minute walk away, and the owners provided us with beach chairs and a cart in which to haul them as well as beach towels. The large heated screened-in pool was delightful as well. Everything we needed was there -- well furnished kitchen, dishwasher, washer and dryer, two large tables for dining, TVs, DVD player, and books. Restaurants and the library were nearby. Before we arrived at the house we e-mailed the owner with a few questions. He answered us promptly with helpful answers. When we return to Captiva we will definitely want to stay at Millertime again.

“The best yet” We have been coming to the island for about 7 years, renting different houses each time. We are a 3 generation family of 12 with children, teenagers, parents and grandparents. Solitude was a great house, well maintained and comfortable. The location was surprisingly good. It is on the main pathway, but very secluded by landscaping. We had issue with the hot tub and pool, water was cold, but they came an fixed it. My only recommendations: Cook ware was small and inadequate if you cook for large groups.

“Highly Recommend” If you are looking for a quiet relaxing get away then this is the spot. The island is quaint and a great place for families with small children. The house was very well maintained and in excellent condition. We didn't count the steps but the claim that it is only 200 steps from the beach is probably accurate. The only complaint is that the mattresses were a bit hard. Wish they were softer. Take all your groceries as the small store on the island does not have much and is expensive. If you have a large group take your own dishwashing and dishwasher soap as they don't provide you with much. If you plan on doing laundry take extra detergent. We only ate out once. Had lunch at Mango's. Food was quite good. Overall we had a great time and will definitely return.

“Best New Years Ever!” We started out the new year in your home and what a great start it was. We have never had the priviledge of being so close to the beach for a vacation! We felt so safe and private. We have 7 littles and the two youngest would even run around naked sometimes. In the chaos of the season on this island, we felt like we were the only ones here when we stayed at your home, you provided everything we needed and the your gardener was very friendly. We saw dolphins daily if not multiple times a day! A special treat . . . dolphin pups with their mothers frequently visited. The beach was virtually private. The owners were very accomidating to our special circumstances. Thank you for that.

“Spectacular. That is all you need to know.” This is the perfect NCI family house to stay in. No other home offers such a child friendly environment. All the kids loved their room and bath, especially claiming a bunk of their favorite color. The out door kitchen next to pool was essential & well used. Our children said "awesome" to the hot tub and colored pool lights at night. Us mom's loved the layout & privacy so much we are already planning next years trip to BlueFin. Thank you for a brilliant vacation.

Captiva Mermaid House - Beach Side of Village Center

Captiva Island house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Captiva is paradise” Just back from a week at the Mermaid House. This was the 2nd time we rented from Larry. The first being April 2013, we rented the Sun & Moon House. The Mermaid House was great for four people. Plenty of room and comfortable. A great beach bungalow!! Weather was great with sun & low 80's high 70's most days. We went from house to beach back to house to use pool and then out to dinner. You can walk to everything. Again, Larry was a great host. The house has everything you need. Larry supplies the beach gear needed and it is a three minute walk to the beach. We used the pool (85 degrees) every day and night. Pool area is large and good place to have breakfast & lunch. The covered area near the kitchen & master bedroom has two sitting areas and we did use this area the day it rained. WE WILL BE BACK! The Burkes Cape Cod

About Captiva Island

Nestled on the southern end of Florida's central Gulf Coast and surrounded by endless natural beauty and coral reefs teeming with marine life, Captiva Island offers the perfect vacation paradise. Join the thousands of visitors who escape here every year for honeymoons, family vacation getaways, or unforgettable Captiva Island weddings. There's no better place to relax, have fun, and experience breathtaking scenery on land or beneath the blue waves. The best way to enjoy everything Captiva Island has to offer is with a stay in a private vacation rental of your own. Find a luxury Florida condo or summer home just a few steps away from the beach where you can watch the sun rise from your private balcony and then begin a day of exploration and exciting activities.

Wander the quaint downtown area of Captiva Island and browse the shops and art galleries featuring the work of talented local artists and artisans. Shop at the high end boutiques and have lunch at a charming beachside cafe. Go sailing, swimming, fishing, or diving all afternoon. Then come home to your vacation rental and grill the day's catch on your deck. After the sun goes down, host a campfire on the beach for your family and friends.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Hike or bike the inland trails: Lace up your hiking boots or rent a bike in town and explore the scenic beauty of Redfish Pass and Captiva Pass.
  • Tour a historic site or plantation: Captiva Island is home to some charming preserved gardens and historic Florida homes. Take a tour and learn more about local history.
  • Take a sailing lesson: Offshore Sailing offers lessons for beginners. Enlist the help of a patient instructor who can have you cruising the waves in no time.
  • Go deep sea fishing: Captiva Island fishing trips usually leave shore in the morning and head into the deeper waters in pursuit of tuna, grouper, and marlin.
  • Rent a sea kayak: Rent a sea kayak and let an experienced guide take you to the best places to spot marine life like dolphins, sea turtles, and manatees.
  • Go parasailing: If you've never experienced the exhilaration of parasailing above a long stretch of beautiful beach, Captiva Island is a perfect place to start.

Captiva Island is a sunny picturesque escape during all four seasons of the year. You'll never run out of fun things to do here and you'll have no trouble finding the perfect vacation rental that offers all the amenities you and your family need. Stow your beach gear in your own private condo or summer home and start making lasting vacation memories. While you're here, visit some of the other popular destinations on Florida's Gulf Coast like Indialantic or Punta Gorda.

Pelican Brief right on the beach
Quality family time

My family had a wonderful time at this beach front house. We had our own section of beach to sit and relax on or play in the water. Our family dog loved it as well. It was a pleasure to wake up every morning to the beautiful view and drink our morning cup of coffee looking for Dolphins, which we often saw. The house came with a golf cart which we used to explore the island looking for Gopher Tortoise that live on the southern side of the island. We also enjoyed eating dinner out, choosing from one of the four restaurants; our favorite was Barnacle Phil's. Overall, it was the most relaxing vacation we have ever had and we will definitely be back to The Pelican Brief. Thanks James!see more

Captiva Beach Villas - Ark- Luxury Townhome
A very relaxing stay!

The home was ideally located in a quiet part of town across from the beautiful gulf beach! It had a beautiful pool, was beautifully and freshly decorated, comfortable and spacious! It had access to a private dock in the back and was close to many restaurants and water sports. We enjoyed our stay, swimming, shelling, trying different water sports in the calm waters, relaxing, taking in the vistas including the magnificent Captiva sunsets, eating out and in, and exploring nearby attractions, including a wonderful Captiva sunset cruise out of the South Seas Resort and the quite amazingly preserved historic Sanibel town. It was just the house we were looking for with just the right location as well! My only advice would be to update the games that are in the house for the guests to enjoy. Otherwise, the house is fully appointed and perfect! (Note, check in was easy but check out was not as we did not want to leave....and we would've appreciated a noon checkout vs. a 10 am checkout.)see more

Perfect! Couldn't get closer to the water!

Our Month long island getaway....just the pups and my hubby and me!

This spacious island home was the perfect getaway location. A few steps from the beach, a golf cart ride away from the pool and chikee hut bar. Right next to the island airstrip so we got to watch the coming and goings of the local pilots. Afternoons spent relaxing on the beach with the beach chairs provided by the homeowner. The most laid back vacation I have ever had. We enjoyed the atmosphere at Barnacles (and the ice cream). Kayaking was also a new experience. Dolphins were plentiful and I even saw a manatee. Though the island is small, i managed to walk 4-5 miles most days. I did ask Captiva to consider upgrading the linens and cookware / bakeware in the unit. I did not feel they met the standard of the rental program.see more
