“Cabin is more wonderful than you can imagine” The cabin was absolutely beautiful and was better than we could have imagined. The pictures just don't do it justice. The 2 new bathrooms are amazing and the jacuzzi tub was a lifesaver after we returned battered and bruised from whitewater rafting. After being gone all day, it was such a joy "coming home" at night to the warmth and comfort of the cabin. There were 8 of us and we were looking for peace and quiet and seclusion and we found it. The cabin was only 15 miles from Estes Park, so it was close enough for all the activities that Estes provides. We can not say enough great things about the cabin and Jessie was so easy to deal with. To stay anywhere else on your Rocky Mountain visit would be denying yourself the best accomodations in the area.

“A total R & R experience for a single guest” The service I received made me feel safe but respectful of my privacy. The cabin was furnished with all the comforts of home. It was super clean, warm and quiet. Sleeping was great. Best of all I could walk to Estes Park with the large crafts show, river walk with many unique shops and so many places to eat, both inside and out by the river. It was the best vacation for a single person wanting to rest and relax but with multiple activities so close.

About Grand Lake

The resort of Grand Lake, Colorado, is best known as the gateway to the Rocky Mountains National Park.

As popular during the winter months as it is at the height of summer, you’re sure to find the perfect lakeside log cabin or cozy condo from the huge range available on FlipKey.

About Grand Lake, Colorado

Once a supply point for nearby mining settlements, today the town of Grand Lake has grown into a popular tourist spot, partly due to its proximity to the western entrance of the Rocky Mountains National Park.

Grand Lake enjoys a sub-alpine climate due to its elevation, which means although summer can get hot, it can still be pretty chilly at night, even in July and August – so pack extra layers for your trip!

The resort turns into a winter wonderland when the snow starts to fall, and has been called Colorado’s ‘snowmobiling capital’, with snowmobiling, snowshoeing and skiing popular with visitors.

Whilst you’re here, don’t miss out on some of the delicious breakfast and brunch buffets on offer at local restaurants, as well as some authentic BBQ and grill – and of course, toasting marshmallows around a campfire at the National Park.

What to do in Grand Lake, Colorado

Strolling along the historic boardwalk is a great way to start your vacation in Grand Lake. Here, you’ll find over 60 shops, restaurants and galleries. If you fancy catching a show, the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theater hosts an ever-changing program throughout the year. It’s also worth visiting Kauffman House Museum if you’re interested in finding out about local history.

The highlight of any trip here is Rocky Mountain National Park. This 265,000-acre park is home to moose, elk, black bears and bighorn sheep, with over 150 lakes for whitewater kayaking and boating, hiking trails and incredible photo opportunities. The landscape is one of the most breathtaking anywhere in the world.

There’s plenty of family fun to be had too, with horseback riding and the Junior Ranger Program – kids get a book packed with activities to complete and can earn their Junior Ranger badge!

Top travel tips for Grand Lake

Grand Lake lies 102 miles northwest of the city of Denver. It’s around a two-and-a-half-hour journey by shuttle bus to Denver International Airport. Be wary of driving a rental car over the Berthoud Pass in the winter months – it can be a hair-raising experience!

The first week in August is one of the resort’s busiest times, when the Grand Lake Regatta and Lipton Cup Races take place. This event attracts sailboats from around the world who come to compete for the historic Lipton Cup.

Lovers of the great outdoors, winter sports enthusiasts and families looking for an active vacation come to Grand Lake year after year.

Why not browse FlipKey’s vacation rentals to find your very own lakeside log cabin or condo? It’s the perfect way to see this beautiful destination.
