“Clean and comfortable” The cabin was clean, comfortable and very close to Powderhorn. We walked one day. Check-in was easy and the staff was very friendly. Nice TV and kitchen.

Houby Dom

Ironwood house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Houby Dom Stay” I enjoyed staying at Houby Dom. The house was the perfect size and less than a two minute car ride from Big Powderhorn skiing. The house was clean, and had all of the little household things anyone would need for a weekend stay. The check-in and check-out process was quick and easy. I would definitely stay at Houby Dom again!

Sno Use

Ironwood house

4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“Great Visit!” We stayed at Sno Use over the 4th July of Weekend. We would definitely rent there again. the chalet had all the amenities you would ever need and the central air conditioner came in handy at times. Everything was clean and in working order. The kids enjoyed the air hockey table in the basement. The beds were comfortable and everyone had plenty of room to stretch out.

Stormwatch

Ironwood house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“A comfortable, well-maintained chalet that was perfect for a wee” This was our 3rd summer stay at a chalet near Big Powderhorn and our first at Stormwatch. It was by far the best experience we have had! The chalet was a perfect size for our family with two young children. Our 15-month-old definitely appreciated the soft carpeted floors to crawl and play on. The kitchen was large and well stocked, with a large table big enough for us and the grandparents. The living room was comfortable, with newer furniture and TV. The 3 bedrooms upstairs were large and comfortable. Added plus was the aC units in the living room and 2 bedrooms, which nicely cooled off the chalet in the evening. We did not use the small sauna or downstairs shower, but the upstairs bathroom (with bathtub/shower) was perfect for the family and kids. All of the chalets are not used often in the summer, so we were not surprised to see some cobwebs and dust in the corners. We will definitely be coming back to Stormwatch next year!

Crossbow

Ironwood house

4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 13

“very nice, plenty of room” We really enjoy Crossbow. This waa our 2nd year renting the house and had more people than last year with plenty of room for everyone. The stove in the kitchen was updated in the past year and was a great improvement. The hot tub was warm and wonderful. The only upgrade that would be nice is the electronics, the tvs were old and the stero doesnt have an auxillary input for ipods etc. But the beds are comfortable and the house was warm even with -26 degree temps 2 nights!

Celtic house

Ironwood house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“spacious, comfortable, clean cabin” The celtic Haus was ideal for our family. We loved the cabin. It was clean, spacious, and had an excellent stocked kitchen which included dishwasher soap, cleaners, and your basics like salt and pepper. We would definately request this cabin again. It was also nice it was pet friendly and we could bring our little dog. He felt right at home! We came up to ski, snowboard and snowmobile. Everything was great, except powderhorn mountain lacks a good terrain park for serious snowboarders. This would be the only thing that would deter us from coming back to Powderhorn. They need more jumps, rail and box features, etc. (like Granite Peak). They must change this in order to keep up with the times. Most kids snowboard these days, and ours were disappointed. Also, night skiing/snowboarding should be included if you buy a 2 or 3 day lift ticket. The alpen Inn and Caribou Lodge both had great dinners.

Edelwiess

Ironwood house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Cozy Edelwiess” We arrived on Thursday night later than we planned. At check in they had cookies waiting (and a rose for Valentine's Day) for us and keys to the Edelwiess. The Edelwiess welcomed us and our dogs from the start. Clean, comfortable and well stocked. We stoked the wood burning stove when we arrived and fixed a Manhattan, and were so comfortable we stayed right there for the night. The staff was friendly and helpful from start to finish. We had one problem with ice build up on the roof that they took care of immediately. We could walk to the hill from the Edelwiess which was very convenient. Snow was also great, lots of powder and very pretty. We will come back again.

Top Notch

Ironwood house

4 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“20th anniversary with the family” My wife and I spent our honeymoon 20 yrs. ago at Big Powderhorn, in a quiet little a frame called the Tamarack 1 and this started a family ski trip that we repeated about 10 times over the past 20 years. We have spent most of our family vacations with our children and my parents always and various friends or nieces and nephews at the Top Notch location. Once again this year Top Notch was a cozy inviting location that offers a lot of room and nice warm family atmosphere. We brought our grandchildren ages 8,6, and almost 4 this year along with other family members. We had a absolute wonderful time as it was the 1st time skiing for all the grandchildren and to see them take to the sport so easily is unbelievable. The staff at Big Powderhorn, Caribou, and the Cheese Haus were friendly outgoing and helpful as always. This and the great ski hill are the reasons we have returned so often. The trip was great, although the unexpected sub zero weather in late Feb made it a little challenging. We cannot wait to do this again in the future. Thanks for a Great Family vacation and to 20 more years of the same!

Bear Hug

Ironwood house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“Bear Hug” Bear Hug was very nice, clean and well kept. The only problem I had was the steps. This is a bi-level and when you walk in the door you need to go up to get to the living room/kitchen area and down to get to the bedrooms. I would not recommend this unit for anyone over 65. It would not be a problem for anyone under the age of 60. Also the downstairs shower was impossible to use for me because you need to climb into the whirpool in order to use it. I just used the upstairs bathroom, which was no big deal. This unit would be ideal for a younger family.

Matterhorn

Ironwood house

6 bedrooms / 6 bathrooms / sleeps 16

“4 family reunion” Our group of 4 families have been skiing Powderhorn for many years, but took 7 years off as all our kids attended college. This past weekend, we got the group back together and stayed at Matterhorn. Our stay these was fabulous! The 6 bedrooms, all with their own bathroom, is a great layout. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed and the large living room handled our group well as we watched college basketball when we were not on the slopes. The snow conditions were incredible for mid March! The new Lodge is beautiful. A great weekend and we will be back. Already booked for March 2015!

Christie Downs

Ironwood house

4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Beautiful skiing and nice accomodations!” We rented Christie Downs for 3 nights. The house looked like the living area had some upgrades. The floor, couches and TV area was very nice. We were unable to get the gas fireplace to work. Bedrooms were decent and the kitchen had everything we needed. The kids really enjoyed the game room. The entrance to the house was a little dangerous with ice leading to the entry door. We also noticed that the cleaning missed a few things - there were pretzels on the floor and a few things left behind. Overall, we had a very good experience. The staff at the Bpla office were very friendly & helpful as always. We left an item behind and they were very quick to locate it and ship it back to us. Thank you!

“Snow Storm !” Best year ever with 18" of snow that weekend! Second year we've stayed at Northern Lights, large enough for our group. The shuttle bus drivers make your day. Best Bloody Mary's at the alpen Inn but the Brie appetizer is even better! Love Big Powderhorn

“wonderful get away!” We have stayed here at the Quiver Inn 1 in the past. We love Powderhorn lodging! The Quiver has everything we needed. We love that we can ride our sleds right to the trail an back at the end of the day. The shuttle bus is a great bonus to staying there as well... They are so nice. We stayed for 4 nights and never had to start the truck once! Great times at the Quiver with friends!

The Palms 2

Ironwood house

“Palms 2” A very comfortable, pleasant unit. Clean, well equipted (except appliances could be updated), and a first class unit except for 2 things. 1.air conditioning of some sort needed in the hot days of summer, 2. a pillowtop king sized bed in the master bedroom. We enjoyed our stay , which happened to the the third time we rented the Palms 2, and could easily recommend it for most anyone.

Sugar Pine

Ironwood house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“We love Sugar Pine!” We recently stayed at Sugar Pine, and truly enjoyed this cabin. We've been at other cabins on Powderhorn, and this one has become our new favorite. Bathrooms are roomy, love that it has 3 bathrooms. The main dining/kitchen/living room area is very spacious, we were never cramped. The cabin had an extra card table and 4 chairs, so the kids could sit and play their own games. Only slight downfall was the spiral staircase which my mother in law had a tough time getting up and down, and we had to gate it off for the infant with us, but we knew about the stairs beforehand and still rented it. We plan to stay here again next year! Thanks for the great vacation!

Quiver Inn 2

Ironwood house

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Loved it here!!!” We absolutely loved staying here - we didn't even go skiing :) Perfect place to "get away from it all" for my husband and me. Everything was very clean, yet it had that perfect rustic feel to it. There's a scenic route nearby (I think Route 513?) that takes you to Lake Superior - pretty drive, and we saw lots of deer. Hot tub outside on the deck was amazing - we were worried at first about sharing it with those in the other part, but there's a schedule that reserves it for each side every other hour so you can have it all to yourself. We got lucky though, and nobody stayed in the other half when we were there. We will definitely be coming back again next winter... hopefully for more than just 2 nights! We already had to give the info to this place to some of our friends already as they'd like to try this place out as well.
