“Warm and Inviting” My husband and I stayed here this past august. We had invited our friends to join us for our week's vacation. We spent a wonderful week enjoying one another's company in this very warm and cozy home. The owners provided many amenities, many that you would not normally find at a rental resort or vacation home. We spent many meal times in their very spacious kitchen. The family room was so cozy and inviting ,one of our favorite rooms where we spent much time together making memories. We hope many other people will enjoy there visit up in Lexington as much as we did.We do recommend staying here. It was close to everything. The owners even provided a map for us to find our way to shopping or places of interest. That was extremely helpful. We do hope to visit and stay here again sometime in the future. Thankyou, for making our vacation so enjoyable. Ed and Carm Svejda,Plainfield, IL.

2 Bedroom, Beach Front Cottage on Lake Huron (#7)

Oscoda cottage

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 5

“Great location, clean and comfortable.” I spent a weekend with friends and we all enjoyed the cottage. It was very clean and quiet. It accommodated four adults comfortably and has all the amenities in the kitchen and bathroom, complete with good tasting city water you can drink from the tap and strong water pressure. The Smart TV in the living room with wifi provided entertainment for music and movies. And there's a nice kitchen table for games and meals. In addition to the comforts, the location is really great. The cottage is beachfront and has large windows giving you a view of Lake Huron from both the living room and Kitchen. Depending on your plans for the weekend, it really is the perfect spot for a girls' weekend such as I did, or I could see bringing my family here, or booking it with another small family. I stayed during Winter, but I noticed there are some nice swings, a fire pit, and the beach for long walks to make a summer stay fun. There's also a party store across the street and a full grocery store a quick drive away. We ordered pizza one night and that was convenient too. I definitely plan to stay again and would recommend it to others.

About Michigan

Extending away from two peninsulas and touching four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan is a diverse and beautiful state that is quintessentially Midwestern. Vast expanses of wilderness, spectacular beaches and welcoming cities make up the fabric of the state, and Michigan's outdoor appeal is complimented by its metropolis, Detroit.

If you're visiting Michigan, some of the things you'll want to check out include:

  • Detroit: This town is home to the Henry Ford Museum, a rich artistic and musical culture, three major casinos, and a wealth of excellent restaurants and entertainment venues.
  • Mackinac Island: Vehicles are not permitted on this beautiful island, which blooms with fields of wildflowers and berries that grow fresh and ripe in the summertime. Once you get your car back, a drive across the Mackinac Bridge is truly awe-inspiring. This graceful suspension bridge is the largest of its kind in the western hemisphere.
  • Isle Royale National Park: One of the most famous National Parks in Michigan, Isle Royale National Park is located on the state's northwestern shores, abutting Lake Superior. It also offers some of the best camping in Michigan.
  • Harbor Country: Filled with quaint towns and rural farms, Harbor Country is one of the best venues for Michigan romantic getaways. Summer and fall are the perfect times of year to experience the area's slow-paced, welcoming vibe and historic appeal.
  • Muskegon: One of the state's most widely visited cities, Muskegon is home to Michigan's Adventure, one of the best amusement parks in Michigan. It's a perfect place to bring your family for an unforgettable day.

Summer is widely considered the best time to get outdoors and enjoy Michigan's scenic beauty, but winter visits are equally satisfying. The state offers world-class winter sports, and the famous Detroit Auto Show is held annually in January and is a must for automotive enthusiasts.

A cabin rental is the perfect way to enjoy the idyllic beauty of the Michigan countryside, and if you're staying in the city, consider a condo as your vacation rental instead of a hotel. You'll enjoy all the comforts of home, and you'll have more space and privacy.

If you want to explore beyond Michigan, you can head north into southern Ontario, Canada, which is just across the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit. The beautiful lakes of Minnesota and the relaxing Midwestern vibe of Wisconsin are also just a short drive away.

The house was even cuter than the pictures. We had plenty of space room with the additional 4 season room. The camp fire was conviently located out the front door, including everyone inside and out. The neighborhood was perfect for a jog, walk, or bike ride; and made getting to the beach a simple trip. Thank you for accomodating us for a long weekend in your great cottage!!see more

New Year’s Eve trip to the cabin

I wish I could rate a 4.5/5. The cabin was beautiful!! 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen and a beautiful screened in porch. It was very easy to get to the house and use the passcode to get in. We had a really great time playing board games by the fireside. It was very clean too!! Definitely looks like they have professional cleaners come out. Now for the couple reasons I would rate it a 4.5 instead of a 5... There were drops of blood on the comforter in the master bedroom. Dried but still gross and not ideal. The garbage disposal wasn’t working and every time we would use the dishwasher, the sink would fill with a disgusting water/food mixture. We weren’t told the disposal wasn’t working either. We were having a hard time lighting the fireplace and I texted the owner for instructions on how to do so. (He told me to text I needed anything or had questions) This was like an hour into our stay. He never replied. It took us a long time to figure it out but finally got it. The fireplace was the main reason we wanted to stay here. Just wish the communication was a little better. Here are a couple tips to people who plan on staying here and getting the most out of it. 1.plan on bringing your own toilet paper and paper towels. We assumed they would be provided like most rental properties. There was only one roll of each. Not a huge problem, but we didn’t know about it before we got there and could have picked it up on the way if we did. 2.If you plan on cooking, bring your own knives. None of theirs were sharp enough to dice any vegetables and it took forever! Again, something small, but would have made our stay better. Despite some minor issues, I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. Our stay was extremely fun at the cabin, but could improve in those areas.see more
