Lexington house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Christmas 2013 - Wonderful Family Gathering” We stayed at Fisher House for our family Christmas gathering and had a wonderful time! Your home was more than roomy enough for eight adults (3 bathrooms = yay!) and the fireplace was a huge bonus, given how cold it was outside! We especially appreciated the well-equipped kitchen, which allowed for multiple cooks at the same time! The location was also superb, as we were able to walk to the pier for some family pics next to the lake and then enjoy a burger at Wimpy's in town! We will definitely stay again - thank you for sharing your home!

Oscoda cottage

“Great location, clean and comfortable.” I spent a weekend with friends and we all enjoyed the cottage. It was very clean and quiet. It accommodated four adults comfortably and has all the amenities in the kitchen and bathroom, complete with good tasting city water you can drink from the tap and strong water pressure. The Smart TV in the living room with wifi provided entertainment for music and movies. And there's a nice kitchen table for games and meals. In addition to the comforts, the location is really great. The cottage is beachfront and has large windows giving you a view of Lake Huron from both the living room and Kitchen. Depending on your plans for the weekend, it really is the perfect spot for a girls' weekend such as I did, or I could see bringing my family here, or booking it with another small family. I stayed during Winter, but I noticed there are some nice swings, a fire pit, and the beach for long walks to make a summer stay fun. There's also a party store across the street and a full grocery store a quick drive away. We ordered pizza one night and that was convenient too. I definitely plan to stay again and would recommend it to others.

“Enjoying the marsh and beyond” We always enjoy our visits here, overlooking the marsh with its cranes, swans and other various birds and animals and beautiful sunrises. Place is as described and would definitely recommend to a friend or relative. Owner responsive to questions or concerns. Relaxing and romantic. Close to many great restaurants in Douglas, Saugatuck and Fennville and not far from Holland. Also wineries, breweries, meat and farmers markets, creameries and bakeries.

This home was perfect to show them what the great up north looks like. Close to the snowmobile trails. Had a good time snowshoeing at the falls near Paradise.

About Michigan

Extending away from two peninsulas and touching four of the five Great Lakes, Michigan is a diverse and beautiful state that is quintessentially Midwestern. Vast expanses of wilderness, spectacular beaches and welcoming cities make up the fabric of the state, and Michigan's outdoor appeal is complimented by its metropolis, Detroit.

If you're visiting Michigan, some of the things you'll want to check out include:

  • Detroit: This town is home to the Henry Ford Museum, a rich artistic and musical culture, three major casinos, and a wealth of excellent restaurants and entertainment venues.
  • Mackinac Island: Vehicles are not permitted on this beautiful island, which blooms with fields of wildflowers and berries that grow fresh and ripe in the summertime. Once you get your car back, a drive across the Mackinac Bridge is truly awe-inspiring. This graceful suspension bridge is the largest of its kind in the western hemisphere.
  • Isle Royale National Park: One of the most famous National Parks in Michigan, Isle Royale National Park is located on the state's northwestern shores, abutting Lake Superior. It also offers some of the best camping in Michigan.
  • Harbor Country: Filled with quaint towns and rural farms, Harbor Country is one of the best venues for Michigan romantic getaways. Summer and fall are the perfect times of year to experience the area's slow-paced, welcoming vibe and historic appeal.
  • Muskegon: One of the state's most widely visited cities, Muskegon is home to Michigan's Adventure, one of the best amusement parks in Michigan. It's a perfect place to bring your family for an unforgettable day.

Summer is widely considered the best time to get outdoors and enjoy Michigan's scenic beauty, but winter visits are equally satisfying. The state offers world-class winter sports, and the famous Detroit Auto Show is held annually in January and is a must for automotive enthusiasts.

A cabin rental is the perfect way to enjoy the idyllic beauty of the Michigan countryside, and if you're staying in the city, consider a condo as your vacation rental instead of a hotel. You'll enjoy all the comforts of home, and you'll have more space and privacy.

If you want to explore beyond Michigan, you can head north into southern Ontario, Canada, which is just across the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit. The beautiful lakes of Minnesota and the relaxing Midwestern vibe of Wisconsin are also just a short drive away.

Easter Weekend

We wanted someplace that would entertain our 16 and 11 year old and still be relaxing for us. The amenities on site were just what we needed and every detail was though of. A quick 10 minute drive to visit Otsego Lake one day and to the Elk Park the other was just enough to break up the days. We had some scheduling issues on our end and the owner was very accommodating and helpful with a question or 2 while we were there. We would definitely come back and have already suggested it to a friend!see more

Home away from home

Hectors cabin is lovely and he is generous beyond expectation with everything you need provided! The lake is super clean. This place is an excellent choice for peace and solitude as well as full family fun! Tip; the best fishing is off the dock at dusk or very early morning on the right end of the lake. We'll be back again for sure!see more

Such an amazing and relaxing vacation:)!

We had such a great vacation! My husband and three children went on this vacation and I have two daughters age 10 and 6 and one son age 2. What a beautiful property. Where to start lol..... First off the home is at the very end of kind of a hidden private drive making it even more private and it’s super close to so many things to do. While we were there we went to several brewery’s, hiking trails, fishing spots and a few stores. The home had all we needed to cook all meals at the home including a crockpot which I really appreciated because we used it to make our homemade Italian sauce:) The home was very clean and the beds were very comfortable as well. The hot tub was so nice and relaxing and kept a great temp of 104 with jets and omg what a view:)! There were two kayaks available with life jackets and we used those as well. The water is so clear it’s amazing! There is even a little sand area that my kids just loved playing in and they had a blast! The view there omg the view! No matter what time of day it’s just gorgeous. It’s so quiet, beautiful, relaxing and very homey. We were super comfortable there and we even said it was our best vacation yet because of the relaxation it brought to us. We lost our little baby back in March and this vacation was much needed for some close bonding and family time since her passing and we really wanted something quiet and remote and beautiful and that’s exactly what we got. Also I was able to have a later check out for a very small fee and that was super appreciated. There is a little fire pit outside although we didn’t use this and a fireplace inside but we didnt use this either since it was very warm. There is good reception there as well which I was surprised and there’s cable with many many channels to choose from and it also had a dvr so you can pause the tv which was nice. I think I got it all to help anyone else with there decision to stay at this home. We also plan to stay at another one of this owners rental property’s on our next trip which hopefully we can take soon. Thank you Dorene for sharing your home with us:)see more
