“Unique and beautiful...heavy on the character...” I'm a frequent visitor of the 'ette. I love the location (right off the main drag) but enjoy its solitude (wooded median...long drive way). Its sort of like a studio apartment in the woods. its close to many of the wineries, The Red Newt and Stone Cat restaurants and a gas/quick mart. When Wine tasting its easy to swing by and change clothes/use the facilities/take a nap (comfy beds) and unload your recent purchases. The owners are friendly and helpful. The grounds are spacious with a nice walking trail. For what you get for the price its really a great secret. So why share a secret? I'm not there long enough or frequent enough to keep it to myself...like a cool song, I shouldn't be singing it alone (especially if you've heard my voice).

“Charming property inside and out with all the comforts of home” I recently stayed here with a group of friends looking for a short weekend getaway. The atmosphere was relaxed, everything functional, the beds comfortable, and the rooms clean and homey. Pat and Nadine were wonderful hosts and definitely put thought and effort in to creating an atmosphere that felt like home. Spacious rooms, bathroom, and a great meeting area downstairs with kitchen and dining area to hang out.

“Best house ever” The house is in a beautiful setting. So many things to do in the area from antique shopping, golf in the summer, winter skiing, hiking, really great restaurants. Once you've seen the house though, you won't want to leave. Great layout for families, group of friends, special occasions or just getting away to a special place. everything is provided for your stay. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, outdoor fire pit!!! Watch shooting stars at night. Jennifer has thought of everything. Even a playroom with toys and games! No preparation is needed on your part. Just show up for a fabulous stay.

“Immaculate and gorgeous "home away from home" cottage in Lake Pl” We had an amazing stay! Go-cottage, 2 bedroom was great and I felt like I was at home. The owner has a keen eye and excellent taste for design. Perfect location for Lake Placid horse show and other activities that we did such as hiking and biking. I would definitely stay here again and I recommend it to all of my friends.

“Great vacation” A very pleasant experience. The house is spacious with a full kitchen. The pool is very clean and nice. Place is great - most of popular attractions are located within 10-20 minutes. Owner was very hospitable and kind.

“Relaxing vacation” We vacationed here for the first two weeks of July. Bill and Sandy were fabulous hosts. They were attentive to our needs and generous with their time taking us out in their boat to view the fireworks. The space is decorated tastefully and was clean and welcoming. We spent almost all of our time outdoors enjoying the sun and water. We ate most of our meals outside on the patio. The only thing that could have made it any better would have been to have a screened in area so that we could have stayed out later at night after the mosquitos' came out. We are planning on returning next year.

“Beautiful house, conveniently located with easy access to major attractions” This beautiful house is conveniently located near the major attractions we were interested (the Wild center, Paul Smith’s VIC, the downtown Lake Placid, Whiteface mountain, and Ausable chasm). It is off rt. 30 in a secluded wooded area, so it is extremely easy to get around. The house was very clean and comfortable. The owners and care taker were very friendly and checked several times during our stay to see what else we need and whether we have any concern. We really enjoyed our stay there and would love to stay there again in future.

“This is a gorgeous and spacious lake home with plenty of amentities for adults and child. 5 Stars!!!!” This property is on a gorgeous location on top of a small hill. The view of the lake from the house is breathtaking. Our group enjoyed our stay thoroughly and we took full advantage of the amenities in the property like out door fire pit, hammock, boats/kayak allowed by the home-owner to be used by us. The house has enough space--we were a group of 9 people and the space was ample however there is only one shower so that might be a limitation. the kitchen was very spacious and had all the stuff needed for cooking. It would have been nice if there was a functional grill for using outdoors--the one that was there was kind of old and did not work very well. There was some strange odor in the dishwasher but that might be because of its limited usage. Overall, this place is highly recommended for vacation stay. The owners were really nice and friendly and the view and location is absolutely spectacular! My Response Thank you for your kind words. I do want to say that we have replaced the outdoor grill. I'm sorry you had trouble with it. I checked the dishwater also but could not smell or see anything in the trap. We disconnected the plumbing to examine and clean. Whatever the odor was, it's gone. “Great location. Wonderful plce for a family gathering.” Our family of 11 stayed through the New Year's holiday. What a wonderful place. There was plenty of room and the house is so big that there were little nooks to get away from the crowd if someone wanted quiet reading time. The location is perfect, just 1/2 block from the Main Street in Lake Placid. We walked down to the bottom of the hill to go on a dogsled ride and cross country ski on the lake. The home is 5 minutes from the Olympic Center and 15 from Whiteface Mountain. There is so much to do in Lake Placid. We ran out of time before running out of things to do. Grocery stores were conveniently located and on one of the frigid evenings we picked up the most wonderful Italian meals from a take out place just down the street. This location had it all!

“awesome beautiful place” I can't say enough about this. Place, perfect I guess Serene, peaceful,beautiful, quiet. Djuna the owner is Sweet and very efficient and provides every detail. The Whole are is perfect Oct a getaway, things to do places To shop,eat or just cuddle in with a fire. We will Definetly be returning as soon as we can.:)))

“Connecting with the land” My girlfriend (Katherine) and I stayed here this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary and we couldn't have been happier. Mary and Russel are incredibly nice people, and so are their miniature horses and donkeys! The cabin is absolutely beautiful with a fascinating history. I'm pretty sure Katie's life was changed by this weekend, as she now wants to own a farm with donkeys. I've already recommended this place to many of my friends and will continue to do so. Awesome rates for what you get! We are definitely coming back next year, if not in the next few months. I would love to see what its like to stay there with a blanket of snow on the ground. “Lovely Stay At Camp Hatteras” Our family of four from Connecticut thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at Camp Hatteras. It had all the comforts of home. It was neat, clean and well-stocked with everything we needed for our home-cooked meals and grilling. We ate out on the screened porch almost every night. The convenient location was perfect for our paddling adventures, trips to the Adirondack Museum, Whiteface Mountain, The Wild, and nearby hiking. It was a delight to relax either on the deck, curled up in the loft reading a good book, or while enjoying an evening campfire. Sheila was most accommodating, suggesting paddles and a hike, which suited us well. Glad we chose Camp Hatteras—highly recommended.
