About Asbury Park

Asbury Park is located on New Jersey's central coast and was first discovered as a residential resort in 1871 by James A. Bradley. Bradley developed the majority of the infrastructure within the area which led to the huge tourist industry. Such structures included the orchestra pavilion and the pier. In 1888, Ernest Schnitzler built the merry-go-round, which led to several other amusements.

The 1920s saw the construction of the Paramount Theater, the casino and the Carousel House. These days, the destination has been undergoing major developments for modernization.

Music and entertainment has always been a large cultural aspect of Asbury Park, with emphasis on rhythm and blues, rock and roll and doo-wop. Many concerts take place around the venues and clubs in the region with famous performers and musicians taking the stage.
