East Wind Cabin on the edge of BWCAW

Ely log cabin

3 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 7

“great fishing and hospitality” I started out planning a fishing trip months prior to my arrival at Vosburghs Custom Cabins. I contact Betsy who was an angel in telling me about the area I was visiting, what I was to expect, what I needed to bring, and that she and her crew would take care of the rest. About a month prior to my visit I received a e-mail from the resort just checking in and wanted to see if I had any questions, which is a first on my many fishing experiences to Ely. Upon arrival Betsy greeted me with a cold drink and wanted to know how my trip was and took the time to get to know me and what my needs might be on my trip. Her cabin/office looks over Moose lake and is possibly one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. I met Willy Vosburgh on the way to my cabin, he helps run the operations as well, and he informed me about my boat that was waiting at the dock, asked if I needed bait, and help get me my permits to enter the park for the next day. My Cabins was absolutely fantastic, the custom wood work really made the cabin all that I was told it would be. The large ready to use kitchen had all the necessities; large fridge, stove, microwave, coffee pot, and all the utensils needed to cook our meals. The cabin had a nice living room area with couch and wood burning stove, large bedrooms, and an attached screened in front deck to sit and look at the scenery. The set up for fishing was very nice, we had a large V hull aluminum boat with a new 25 HP motor which made it easy to start and drive. The main dock had a helpful guy by the name of Greg who helped with all our gas, bait, seats, etc.. which made fishing everyday easy. I hired a guide the first day who's name was Paul, who showed us how to fish these lakes, what lures were working and how to use them, I highly recommend hiring him for your first day, we caught a ton of nice fish. I had a wonderful time on my trip and would recommend this resort to anyone who loves fishing, hiking, boating, or simply great scenery.

Forest Cabin "Eleanor"

Shevlin hotel apartment

“Deserves more than 5 stars!” This cabin was absolutely amazing. My husband and I went here for our 5 year wedding anniversary this past weekend for a little getaway and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place. It was quiet and tucked away in the woods. No close neighbors. Peaceful. Everything we needed! We took our snowmbobile out on the trails for over 6 hours. We snow-shoed the next day down a few trails and to the lake. The weather was perfect. We saw several deer while on the trails. The cabin was breath-taking. The fireplace and bathroom were gorgeous. We woke up both mornings to the sun on the tops of the trees. It has a amazing views of the forest. The quality and craftsmanship of the cabin were perfect. You can definitely feel the love that was put into this cabin by annie, the owner. Annie even stopped by one night to make sure everything was perfect. What a great host!! There are some places you go where you can't wait to pack up and get back to your home and reality. You will not want to leave this place. It was so hard to pack up and drive away. We will definitely come back again and would recommend Eleanor to anyone!

“Most comfortable farmhouse you will ever stay in.” I visited Mankato to see a friend who had just had a baby. I wanted a place that I could come to after our long days together and relax. This house provided exactly that!! I think I will bring my friend here for a long weekend when she can leave her baby. We can invite more ladies for a girls getaway! I really can't wait to go back.

“Photos do not due this location justice!” Beautiful, well-kept cabin on the perfect sized lake. I knew we'd found a wonderful location when my children were oooohhhh-ing and aaaahhhing as we pulled into the driveway. The view of the lake is breathtaking! My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. The owner was there when we checked in and give us some "local secrets" were to fish and other opportunities not far from the cabin. He was a wonderful resource and very cordial. Sharing photos of our trip afterwards, a coworker commented by saying "it looks like summer camp!" That about sums it up - truly the perfect Minnesotan experience! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

“It has it all!!!!!” Best place to stay, to experience all Minnesota has to offer. Beautiful cabin with all the amenities you could think of and even ones you didn't. Plenty of room. Gorgeous location. Great for romantic couples trip, or family get togethers. The owners are nearby on property, however you never see them unless you have a request. They were out of town for most of our stay, but did wait for us to arrive to give us a quick tour and answer any questions. Small towns nearby whether for groceries, dining or hitting up the movie theatre. We stayed in winter this time. Can't wait to go back in the summer and bring the kids!

Casabella on Caribou Lake

Lutsen log cabin

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“A little slice of heaven!” We have stayed at Casabella for the past five years. We always come up in the Fall hoping to catch the foliage. We've been here when it's 40 degrees, and when it's 75 degrees. The temperature never seems to matter when all is said and done. This place is fabulous. We love Caribou Lake and the privacy we have at Casabella. The accommodations are great. We usually cook in while we're here, and the kitchen has whatever we need. Great fireplace indoors, and great fire pit outdoors! I really can't say enough about it. We love it!

“Excellent relaxing place to be with family and friends any time” This is a great place to spend time at durning the summer. It is quiet, relaxing, affordable, newly updated, and surrounded by beautiful trees. There are many things to do there with an awesome sandy beach and access right to the lake. We enjoy laying on the beach, swimming, playing beach volleyball, and having access to the pantoon, paddle boats, and lake raft. There are even docks where you can keep your own boat while staying there. With all the trees and wildlife we enjoy going for walks. It is located close to Mapplewood State Park, various resturants, grocery stores, and gas stations in the nearby towns. They also have a store located right on the property with a variety of foods and items just incase you forgot anything. We also enjoy going there year round to spend time with our family during our family reunion, and on the holidays! It's a spacious place to have larger gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas! We go there several times a year and have encourged our family and friends to stay there too! Steve and Holly are excellent hosts!!

Minnesota is often known as the land of lakes, since the state offers thousands of square miles of untouched northern wilderness, much of it covered by tranquil, glassy rivers, lakes, and waterways. Find a beautiful secluded vacation rental or a quiet cabin in the Minnesota woods and experience this landscape for yourself. Wake up in the morning in your private cabin and enjoy a cup of coffee, then head out onto the water in a canoe or kayak and watch the sun rise over the pines. Listen to the sound of the loons and the gentle waves lapping the pebbled shores of your own private Minnesota paradise. This is a perfect place to spend your days hiking, exploring, and fishing. In the evening, come home and grill the day's catch for your friends and guests. If you prefer downtown adventures, spend your day on the golf course or relaxing in a world-class spa. Wonderful week

We had a wonderful week on Gull Lake. A beautiful home on a point on Gull Lake. We had our extended family with sons/daughter in law, my brother, 90 year old mother and our two dogs. It could not have been a better week nor home. Will definitely come again. Thanks to Mike and Joy. What a beautiful home!see more

The Trailhouse - The perfect place to explore Duluth
The trail house was a good choice for us since we had three couples in our party.

We arrived on motorcycles and there was plenty of parking, and great roads near the house. We travelled with two other couples, and this review comes from all three of us. The overall property was a little shabby on the outside- the lawn needed weed-eating and although there was a nice deck, the view was tainted by junk piled up behind the fence in the back. Inside, however, the house was clean, the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was fully stocked, including spices, which made it easier to cook without buying a lot that would be wasted. There was plenty of room for all of us to gather around the table and visit each evening. The host, Matthew, checked on us frequently by phone. The neighborhood was quiet, but the house is close enough to town. This house worked well for us because there were 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Two bedrooms had two twin beds. One thing to note is that there is no air conditioning upstairs. This was not a problem in mid-August in the evenings. During the day it was pretty warm upstairs. There is air conditioning downstairs. Overall it was a good experience and just needs a little tweaking to get a 5-star review.see more

I don't want to leave a GREAT review, because I want this place all to myself!

From the moment we drove into the resort, until the moment we left we were in awe of how truly spectacular this place is! It is definitely a quiet little gem! The lake is crystal clear, the retreat home was spotless, the beach area was very very kid friendly with lots and lots of toys, bikes and a playground. Holly, Pat and their dog Benny were very friendly and accomodating! We have found a place for our large blended family to go to for years to come!see more
