Ye Olde Manor House Bed and Breakfast

Elkhorn house

8 bedrooms / 9 bathrooms / sleeps 20

“It's Delightful, It's Delicious, It's De-lovely!” One would think that Cole Porter wrote those lyrics after visiting Ye Olde Manor House! The owners, Karen Fulbright-Anderson and John anderson, are a delightful, warm, welcoming couple. They are so friendly and engaging that you feel at home almost as soon as you arrive. And their home reminds me of an English Country Cottage with the many comfortable seating areas and nooks and crannies expected. There is also a beautiful green lawn with several flowering beds and many lovely spots for sitting. But the piece de resistance of the public areas is the year-round indoor/outdoor pool, with a depth of no more than 5 feet, which makes it perfect for swimmers and non-swimmers (me) alike. First, and most importantly, each guest room has it's own private bath stocked with lovely smelling potions and lotions, big, soft, fluffy bath towels and anything else that you might need. Second, the rooms are lovely. I stayed in the 'Oak Room', which is filled with antique oak furniture and is perfect for one person. There is a chair for reading, a beautiful antique trunk that you can sit on use for your luggage and antique lamps, doilies and trinkets. There were two other guest rooms nearby, but I slept like a baby and never heard anyone else! The breakfast that John and Karen offer negates the need for lunch! You have a choice of Vegan, Vegetarian or the Meat and Dairy eaters breakfast, and everything they prepare is delicious! Finally, there are plenty of other things to do nearby-walking around the Lake, hiking, visiting the quaint Town of Elkhorn, attending concerts and, my favorite, antique fairs!! My long weekend at Ye Olde Manor House was so enjoyable and relaxing that it left me feeling as though I'd spent a week at a spa. Writing about it is making me feel the same way all over again. I can't wait to visit again!!!

“Unique, loft apartment is ideally located to the explore the won” My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful week stay at this unique loft rental. We walked the beach daily! Lake Michigan and the boardwalk are just steps away. The large, open, living & dining room space provided plenty of room for family and friends to gather. I loved the decor. It is very cosmopolitan with furnishing and original artwork from around the world. The bedrooms are very comfortable with spacious bathrooms, and private sun decks. We did much of our own cooking in the (fully-equipped) kitchen. This was a delight for us, helping to reduce dining expense during our vacation. When we did go out on the town, we had excellent dining options, including Cafe Tlazo, Skaliwags, Hotel Stebbins and many other restaurants in the area. This is an beautiful central location to explore the Door County peninsula, the ahnapee trail, art galleries, and winerys. Enjoy!

Lake Shore House on Lake Michigan! Dog Friendly!

Sheboygan house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“The Lakeshore House is just as nice as the pictures make it look!” My husband and I loved the Lakeshore House. It was cute, clean, and had beautiful views. There were many thoughtful surprises, like binoculars to view the birds and boats on the lake, and baby-gates to keep our dog out of areas of the house we didn't want him to go. Our only suggestions would be that Mark should add some paintings of the Lakeshore House to his notecards and art prints for sale -- We think people would love to purchase them as souvenirs. Also, I wish there had been a Keurig coffee maker. Finally, the backyard cliff kind of freaked me out, although it was beautiful. Some kind of fence might be nice. We couldn't let our dog out there without him being on a leash. Despite these details, we really loved it. Over all, it was a very lovely place that we would definitely recommend to others.

"Shorewood" - enjoy Lake Winnebago's west side experience!

Oshkosh house

“Serene Getaway along the Lake” What a quiet & serene place to find on the lake despite being in a neighborhood. Other houses sit far enough back on one side with a big open lot on the other side makes you feel quite alone most of the time. Beautiful view and everything you need except food and personal necessities. Enough room to enjoy each other's company and still have your own private quiet time. Nice little loft above sunken living room that I used for reading nook. Great place to enjoy outdoor & indoor activities and view at the same time. We brought our own family favorites & chairs even though some are provided. So relaxing just sitting inside watching the view too! Family time with adult children reconnecting around the firepit and lake view was amazing. Just make sure to bring bug spray even though candles were provided. Blessed to find such reasonable rates at peak season with last minute plans. Wish we could have stayed longer. Such a sweet couple to check in with us upon arrival if we had any questions. Booking was easy. Gladly to stay again and share with friends this little gem. Great place for a family or few friends to get together!

About Wisconsin

Wisconsin has a lot more to offer than just cheese and friendly folk, although you won't go very far without encountering one or the other. With coasts on two of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, and a healthy sprinkling of smaller lakes and ponds throughout the remainder of the state, there is a surprising amount of water activities to be had in this northerly state. Head to the central region of the state to experience how the Amish community lives or go to your favorite brewery for a tour. In the Dairy State, there is something for everyone.

Some of the sights you will not want to miss include:

  • Wisconsin Dells: Synonymous with a Wisconsin family vacation, this town offers a plethora of activities to keep the young ones happy, such as waterparks, roller coasters and even more waterparks. It is no surprise this town has been deemed the "Waterpark Capital of the World." With wineries, zip lines and some seriously good restaurants, adults can have just as much fun as the kids.
  • Door County: For a visitor that prefers a bit of seclusion, head here. With a coast offering quiet caves and dramatic cliffs, this area is best explored by kayak. In the dry land areas, however, there are a number of cultural activities that will float your boat as well. Theatrical performances, art galleries and maritime museums are just a handful of attractions travelers will enjoy.
  • Milwaukee: Known affectionately as the U.S.'s Brew City, Milwaukee is home to Miller beer and the only Harley-Davidson Museum in the country. The area is rich in cultural history and historic neighborhoods. It also features modern restaurants, a buzzing nightlife and several shopping districts.
  • Green Bay: As the state's oldest community, Green Bay is now best known for its namesake football team, the Green Bay Packers. Sports fans will go wild for the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame and Lambeau Field.
  • Cambridge: This Victorian village resides on the shores of Lake Ripley. It is known for playing host to Rowe Pottery Works, which is the focus of downtown. There is plenty of shopping, restaurants and galleries for travelers to check out as well.
  • Madison: As the state's capital, this city combines the charm of a small town with big city offerings. Capitol Square features an excellent open-air market from spring to fall and is the place to see and be seen. Madison also features the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and the University of Wisconsin.
  • Baraboo: As the hometown of the Ringling Brothers, travelers flock to this town for one very big top attraction, the Circus World Museum. Other attractions include the International Crane Foundation, Devil's Lake State Park and the nearby Mid-Continent Railway Museum.

Wisconsin offers travelers a lot to choose from in terms of activities. Making a big splash with the families is of course Wisconsin water parks. Outdoor lovers will enjoy pitching their tents for Wisconsin camping since there are so many picturesque surroundings to choose from. Wisconsin national parks do not disappoint either for visitors wanting to take in the greenery. For couples, inspiring amor is easily achieved with Wisconsin romantic getaways.

After a long day of sightseeing, travelers can take comfort in all the fixings from home with a vacation rental of their choice. A cabin in the countryside makes for a secluded excursion designed to provide tranquility while a condo in downtown Madison will put you in the heart of all the action. No matter what gets your pulse pounding, Wisconsin is one state that will constantly surprise you in the best ways possible!

Awesome Week

My family and I stay for a week and we had such a great time. The house had everything we needed. We enjoy the peace and quiet that we had and just looking out the windows at the lake and all that if offered. We had a minor issue but Paul and Kristie took care of it right away. We certainly would like to come back again soon.see more

Single Cabin on 120 Acres with Pond near Dells
120 acres

The property was beautiful. The trails were amazing, muddy from all the flooding but nature can’t be helped. The fireflies provided magical sparkle every night. The mosquitoes are the size of small hungry children, but again....with all the rain this spring not much can be done about that. The “swimming pond” was not something I was willing to even float in but the dogs loved it. I was thrilled to have a place that accepted pets without an issue! Great location in regards to distance to beaches. Great that it had air conditioning. Would have been stifling without it. Honestly there were few drawbacks. It’s not fancy at all but has everything one would need for “glamping.” It was tough with 8 people and only one bathroom. I think that’s my only complaint, but that was our choice. I think this would be a great location for a fall getaway.see more
Beautiful River Retreat in Northern Wisconsin
Peaceful Getaway

We recently stayed at this lovely little cabin with our 2 great grandsons. The house was wonderful and clean, the beds super comfortable, the yard was beautiful. The boys ( ages 10 & 8 ) spent almost day jumping from the swinging rope into the river using all their imagination. ( They were Indiana Jones, Spiderman & Tarzan! ) They loved the canoe rides too. We brought our dog and she jumped in the river too! Loved our stay and the hosts were wonderful. Thank you Katelyn and Dan!!!!!see more
Beautiful Full Log Lodge on 44 Acres
Wonderful place to enjoy a family gathering

We filled the house with three generations and enjoyed being able to be together and have room to roam. We gathered around the fire pit every night, played games during the day both indoors and out, and visited the scenic prairie for kites and playing baseball. Steve, our host, was so helpful and accomodating to all our needs.see more
Spacious Retreat with Private Swimming/Fishing Pond and Sand Volleyball Court
Perfect place to stay in the Dells!!

This cabin was located on a private lot with enough space away from neighbors but just a 10 minute walk to the lake nearby. Noahs Ark waterpark was a 30 minute drive away. The house had everything you would need for a stay plus extras such floaties and paddleboards. The pond was fairly warm and clean. Everyone loved it at the cabin, there was enough to do to just enjoy the whole day there - volleyball, bonfire, horseshoes and boardgames. The property owner was very responsive to messages yet gave me plenty of privacy. There was a contract to sign plus deposit but I had no issues getting that refunded.see more
