Talkeetna Cottages Moonflower Cabin

Talkeetna log cabin

“A lovely experience!” It's hard to say what I liked best about our two nights in the Moonflower Cabin; we found it to be so comfortable and homey, yet charming and "special occasion" as well. The peaceful, not quite in town location was perfect and we enjoyed feeling surrounded by wilderness but only a few miles from down town Talkeetna, and being able to walk to Talkeetna Lake and enjoy the recreation there was a big plus. The service and hospitality were first class and I can honestly recommend this little oasis to anyone who's looking for a clean, comfortable and private setting that's also a great value!

A Cabin by the Pond

Soldotna studio

  • Studio
  • 1 bathroom

“A Great Place To Stay” Having stayed in a lot of lodging in alaska Soldotna area in the past 15 years I would have to say that a cabin by the pond was the most comfortable.Alaska is a great place to visit fish and explore. To enjoy the true alaska experience you need to pace yourself. You will need a week minimum. If you are a keen fisherman by all means do a one day king, halibut and a fly out silver and that's it.Take a break between days because it will exhaust you.Check the tides for clamming great fun day out.Fish from the beach on Whiskey Gulch and anchor point only one hour south from Soldotna.Use herring and salmon belly for bait you would be surprised what you can catch. Best public fishing areas I would have to say head back over the bridge and up towards Murphys lane.(Go a little above that to the public area)Nice quite spot up there great silver red and monster rainbow(on salmon eges)Great Silver fishing down at Cunningham Park(need a good 5-6oz weight to hold you in the current)If you want to catch fish in alaska in the public areas. Be on the water at 6.30am and you will be done by 9.00am or 9.00 pm to 12.00 midnight and have a sleep in the morning.Hey its your vacation but from 9am to 9pm things can get a little too busy on the river for me.Thats why I will head south for beach fishing or north on the Russian River or a day trip to Seward or Homer. Flight discounts probably the best deal is with alaska airlines.Get the visa signature card and a partner can fly for $100.Split the cost hey for under $500 your in business.Car rental.I use aBC motor homes 3 mins from anchorage airport. They pick you up and a lot cheaper than airport prices. Before you go check out the "Alaska Outdoor Journal" website for real time up dates on fishing updates regulations..But above all if you stay at "A Cabin By the Pond" you are right in the middle of it all.Great place to stay highly recommend it. Have fun all the best Murph

“Beautiful Cabin” I have stayed at the Bunkhouse Cabin many times and I really enjoy the peace and quiet the place offers. The Cabin has excellent views of the Tongass Narrows plus a beautiful setting. The Bunkhouse Cabin is a great place for a romantic night with someone special and the Cabin offers a warm and clean place to rest and relax. I'm very fussy where I stay and this is the place for me many times I come to Ketchikan. Nicloe and Jim Church go out of their way to make sure you recieve the best stay.

“In the woods, but close enough to town” The cabin was very nice, we stayed in one for almost 3 weeks when we first moved to alaska. Bill was amazing. Anything that you needed he was willing to help you. My husband and I took a paddle boat out 1 afternoon and that was awesome. The place itself is very peaceful and you can't see any of the neighbors. The cabins were clean and very nice. The shower/ toilets at the main house was clean and not to far of a walk, we stayed in the farthest cabin. There was a toilet for the ladies in the cabin. Overall it was a very nice stay and prices were very reasonable. Will definitely recommend to family when they come to visit.

About Alaska

With vast expanses of wilderness draping the land, plenty of bears and moose, and mountain peaks that soar into the clouds, Alaska is undeniably one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. and a playground for outdoors enthusiasts. Winters here are long and cold, but the Northern Lights color the sky in emerald and violet hues and help make up for the surplus darkness. Conversely, the summer sun seldom sets, and a 2 AM hike is a common activity. With so much vast wilderness to explore, it's hard to know where to start, but no matter when you come or where you go, America's last great frontier promises to leave you in awe of its grandeur.

Some of the state's most popular attractions and activities include:

  • Prince William Sound: A perfect place to launch your northern adventures, Prince William Sound offers spectacular panoramas of the glacier-frosted mountains that lead into a picturesque harbor.
  • Anchorage: The state's largest city offers many excellent caf‚s and the friendliest group of people you'll meet.
  • Go for a cruise: Alaska cruises are extremely popular and offer casual visitors an excellent way to take in a broad sampling of the state's endless natural attractions and scenery.
  • Commune with nature: The state is filled with Alaska National Parks, offering sights and sounds you simply can't see anywhere else. You can visit Alaska fishing lodges to go ice fishing, take an Alaska dog sledding trip across the snow-covered ground or simply explore and enjoy the awesome scenery.
  • Journey the Dalton Highway: The only trace of civilization through 414 miles of spectacular wilderness, the Dalton Highway runs from just north of Fairbanks to Deadhorse near the Arctic Ocean, and is one of only two roads in North America that cross the Arctic Circle.

Temperatures in Alaska are at their mildest in July, but summers are relatively short given the state's northern location. Spring and fall are excellent times to visit if you want to rough it in the outdoors, as you'll still get some daylight along with plenty of fresh snow.

Instead of staying in a hotel, why not experience the uniqueness of Alaska by staying in a cabin? These rustic vacation rentals offer more space and privacy with all the amenities of home. If you're staying in a major city like Anchorage or Juneau, you can also get a condo that will comfortably house couples, families and groups.

Expand your exploration of North America's majestic north by trekking into neighboring Canada. The Yukon Territory borders Alaska and offers a similar wealth of spectacular scenery, gold rush-era boom towns and friendly hospitality.

Best Breakfast Ever!

What a blessing to awake each morning to breakfast at Scores Bed and Breakfast! Brian and Mary certainly have perfected breakfast with egg omelets, poached eggs, maple sugared bacon, home made biscuits and sausage gravy, pancakes with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, blueberries and orange slices. Each morning a perfectly delicious breakfast and caring, friendly conversation greeted us. Hope someday we can return to beautiful Alaska and Scores B&B! I felt right at home

Valdez is so beautiful and quaint. My husband and I had a wonderful stay. The house is adjacent to a park strip and and is surrounded by the most amazing mountains. We stayed two nights in the Northern Lights room with a northern view of the mountains. This room is on the second floor towards the back of the house. The shower in the bathroom is large and shampoo and conditioner were provided. The first night we were the only guests. The second night there were other guests but the living room is so spacious we all had plenty of room. Speaking of which the views of the mountains both from the front of the house and the back of the house, are awesome. This is our fourth trip to Valdez. Things we have done in the past are stay for a couple nights on the Denali ( Dan's boat) and fished. The highlight though were the whales. It is also a great place to hike. Dan is friendly and knowledgeable about the area, he keeps to himself but is available if needed. We will definitely visit again.see more
The Aurora Yurt-A Cozy Stay With Mountain, City and Aurora Views
Amazing Yurt Vacation

Having never stayed in a yurt before we were unsure what to expect, especially being in Fairbanks , Alaska in December. Upon arrival, it was soon discovered that any preconceived fears were unwarranted. The yurt was beautiful, well insulated and construction was solid. The outside temps were warm by Fairbanks standards, teens and twenties, but the yurt stayed comfortable the entire time. The views from the yurt were beautiful, but don't forget to look skyward during the night! I was able to capture some amazing pics of the Northern Lights with my camera and tripod set up on the front deck of the yurt.Colleen was a pleasure to work with and we would not hesitate to return to this beautiful place again to enjoy the natural beauty right out your front door.see more
