“Great beach holiday” We stayed at the beach house for 6 nights and enjoyed it thorougly. The location is perfect and you can't beat the view. Being right on the beach it was great waking up to the sound of waves breaking. Although in a quiet part of town, it's only 10 - 15 minute walk to the restuarants and shops or a short tuk-tuk run. The house is clean, well maintained and have everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. A great place to stay in Hikkaduwa.

“Peaceful place to live indeed!” I stayed in ataman Luxury Villas for a week and it was an excellent experience! There were no other people who could disturb my peaceful rest. I have never experienced such a peaceful beach in my life! However, there are always people to help if necessary. The Internet connection was an important thing for me and I was glad to know that there is a free wi-fi available throughout the whole territory. I was also surprised to find that Koh Kho Khao is not a boring place to be. There are many places to visit, such as famous Similan islands, which I really enjoyed going to.

“Peaceful retreat in hectic Ubud” We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Villa Nyoman. We have stayed for a week after first staying in Sama' s cottages down the street. We loved the swimming pool and the different seating areas. There is a very nice gazebo that looks out over the pool, an outside bench with comfortable cushions and a daybed in the living room. Drinking water is provided and cleaning is done daily. It is very difficult to find without very precise directions or Made meeting you. A transfer arranged by Made might therefore be a good idea. All communications with Made were very straightforward and he was always easy to reach. The location was good, Jalan Bisma is a nice street with different eating options. We especially liked Cafe des artistes, Miro and Rouge for drinks. Jalan Bisma opens onto the main street of Ubud and that street is very hectic and difficult to walk during rush hour (which at times seemed to be all day). If you are walking and want to get to Monkey Forest Road it is much nicer to take the shortcut through Nick's pension (very close to the villa). You have to walk all the way to the river,, cross the river and then walk back up. You will end up near the football field.

“Best vacation rental we've ever had!---convenient and luxurious retreat” We've stayed in places all over the world and this was by far the nicest place we've ever rented. The pics, descriptions and other reviews say it well. And you're close enough to all the sights and attractions of Bali but removed from some of the craziness. And you get at least a little taste of life outside the tourist zone by roaming the residential streets where the villa is. For those who worry about such things, we weren't the least bit concerned about safety--even with our 2 beautiful teenage daughters along. And once you figure out how to book taxis etc., it's very easy to come and go. By all means, take up the chance to have Wati (the housekeeper etc.) cook some local food for you. The meals she prepared were definitely the best we had all week. Many of the restaurants in the tourist ghetto serve the same things with the spice levels pulled way back. The food Wati prepared was amazing! We can't recommend highly enough booking the Bali tropical house for a wonderful respite in this beautiful part of the world! Best of all are the many sitting areas where you're serenaded with the sounds of tropical birds, the crowing roosters, and sights of the ocean from the top floor studio. This is truly an oasis.

“Heaven on Earth!” I stayed at The Petals for 2 weeks and can't rate it highly enough with only 5stars! This place is a pure heaven on Earth. You wake up in the morning with the beautiful sounds of nature, cup of the best tea in the world, fresh papaya juice, breakfast like nowhere else from Upul the amazing chef and refreshed with freshly chopped king coconut. If you decide not to go to the beach you can easily spend a day here around the pool or with tons of books and board games, otherwise the most beautiful beaches are only walking distance away or about £1 with tuc-tuc. During the day you'll be looked after by Upul and Jagarth 2 amazing guys and now also friends for which no request is a problem. The best way to explore the area is by motorbike but you have to be a very good rider since on the road no rules apply, if that's not the case the taxi's and tuc tuc's are incredibly cheap but ask the price first. By the way a stunning tea farm and factory is only 30 mins ride. In Sri Lanka I haven't met one person who wouldn't smile back at me, truly beautiful people. And if you like surfing, this is the place! I'll be definitely back very soon. Thank you Linda, Upul and Jagarth

“Beauty, peace, service beyond” We stayed in Jepun Cottage for a week prior to our son's wedding in Australia. It was a perfect combination of serene setting, proximity to activities, food and spas, the exotic beauty of Bali and gracious hospitality. Ketut and Janny advised and arranged day trips including a challenging, whole day tramp through rice fields and forests, directed us to the best places for food and entertainment and chatted with us about the history and society of Bali. Their service was needed even more after we left. When I arrived in Australia I discovered I had lost some jewelry which had been my mom's. While not valuable in dollar terms, it is precious to me. Janny responded to my emails with negative results from her searches of our cottage and I returned home resigned to the loss of this family treasure. Lo and behold, as they say, some two months later I received another email from Janny celebrating the finding of my black jewel case. Janny, not satisfied that she had exhausted the search, had gotten a ladder and a flashlight and found it pressed up against the back of our in-cottage safe which was rather high up in an armoire. She went to some trouble with customs, etc. to have it couriered to me here in Canada. This personal interest in the well-being of guests will be yours to experience if you have the good fortune to stay at Devi's Place. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
