“Brilliant. The pictures do not do it justice. The kitchen/bar is a gem.”
I can only start by saying that when I booked this I had said to the family that I was looking for somewhere quiet and private to spend in the sun with family and good food and plenty of drink. The villa itself was secondary. However the villa was unbelievable and the pictures on the site do not do it justice. The star of the show by far was the outside kitchen and bar. As the one who tends to cook I usually get segregated from the family while I cook and they sunbathe. Not this holiday. The inside kitchen was only used to cook oven cooked pizzas twice in the entire holiday, otherwise was redundant. As a bit of a foody (and a lot of a drinker) the kitchen/bar was an absolute gem of a find. The pool was lovely. No heating required as the Andalucían sun heated the pool to a lovely warm temp and to be honest the terrace was a bit of a sun trap and the pool was lovely to cool off in for all the family. The terrace had a gorgeous view and was adorned with plants (It even had this amazing plant - we think called morning glory - which flowers only for a night to a flurry of bee activity) and statues as well as having ample furniture with 6 loungers, 4 bar stools, a three piece suite under the outdoor, sheltered area, a further patio table with 6 chairs with more tables and chairs in a couple of areas around the terrace. The villa inside did have a kitchen and living room but to be honest, apart from noticing the Spanish scrabble game I didn’t take much notice or use of. (It does have English TV although we never watched it) The other rooms DO have aircon. Good aircon too. I noticed some of the other reviews mention no aircon in the bedrooms. This is now installed and a godsend. The couple that manage the villa, Christine and Malcolm were stars. They met us late on as our flight arrived in late, they toured the house and the amenities so we knew what we were doing. They gave us info about the local area. We even met them in a bar on our last night and caught up with them. Lovely people. Those were the pros. The cons of this villa are not really specific to the villa, more the location and little the owner or management can do. But worth noting when making decisions. The driveway is narrow and steep. It’s the same for all the villas in the area. So do not be put off this villa by this. Just worth noting. We were in a 7 seater and found it a bit daunting to start with. We got the hang off it after a couple of attempts. The villa isn’t really safe walking to Competa itself. I wouldn’t recommend it for elderly or young children as the road you walk along is narrow and winding with no path. It is however just 5 mins drive to Competa and everything you need is there. And the mozzy bites and ants are something you should prepare for. A bit of mozzy repellent made a world of difference but prior to that I was eaten alive. This is just the area, it’s the same across the entire region. Do not be put off this villa by them. Just be prepared. I would score the villa a 9/10. Only losing the 10th point for walking distance to the town itself. Not the distance as such as only 30 mins, but more the walking route. But do not be put off by this. If visiting this area again I would absolutely book here again. It was peaceful, hot, private, tranquil and again the kitchen/bar should be enough to sell it to anyone.

I thought you might appreciate the outdoor kitchen! The mosquitoes unfortunately are plentiful in Spain in the hotest month of August, the only thing that helps is to make sure all the mosquito nets are down in the villa and when retiring for the night a quick spray around and make sure you spray yourself with mosquito repellent, that’s all you can do. “High quality villa with great outdoor space and views”
Very lovely house with a well equipped outdoor kitchen. Beautiful and large garden & terrace with good views, even to the sea on clear days. Air conditioning was a relief as it was quite hot. Just a short drive from Competa village that has small markets (Eroski has a parking space). One of the nicests villas we have ever stayed at!

A stunning home, the outdoor kitchen is just amazing, there are so many place to sit and enjoy the stunning famous competa views! Hated leaving, just fabulous. My only negative was the lack of air con. Us irish can't handle the heat!
