“Don't rent this house”

Reviewed 21 Dec 2022

Even before we arrived, the owners asked so much money for different items, no refund during corona as well. We should arrive with Christmas. The extra payment they asked for extra persons, who will not sleep there, only for Christmas lunch they charched 240 euro. As I was inventarisating the family what to do, they cancelled our booking, 5 days before xmas. They only refunded 180 euro, while we payed about 1600 for the accomodation., Terrible for the whole familie with small kids, who were looking forward to this chrismas with us.

Response from the owner We very much regret that for the first time in our 18-year history of our accommodation, we have had to cancel a booking due to non-payment of the full rental amount. Indeed, we were forced to cancel your booking several times due to the COVID-19 rules in force at the time and we rebooked you on each occasion. Your booking was originally for 4 adults and 3 children. Because of the group size, we gave a 20% discount. A few weeks before your arrival for Christmas 2022, we were informed that 2 adults and 2 children were joining your group and we were informed that they would actually be staying overnight. That too was no problem. However, the discount for staying with a small group would thereby lapse. During correspondence, it was then indicated that you did not agree to this. We made several payment requests for the extra amount, stating the payment deadline. After this date had passed, we waited another 2 days and then, 4 days before arrival, unfortunately had no other choice than to cancel the booking as you refused to complete the required payment.

“Even the weather was perfect!”

Reviewed 28 Sep 2014

Owners David and Monique couldn't have been more helpful. Not only did we receive clear instructions on how to find the property, they also greeted us with a welcome pack of food and drink to see us through our first day and night. This is spacious and well maintained accommodation in a beautiful part of Holland. The property is perfectly positioned for exploring the fantastic local countryside or as a base for discoveries further afield. The owners really made our stay perfect; they even proved some great late September weather! This is certainly a place we'll want to visit again.

“Ideal Base for North Holland”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

Thank you for a lovely, relaxing break. We’ve had a wonderful time discovering this part of the Netherlands and love this little village. There was still so much more to discover. Many thanks to our hosts for all their help and advice. The children have loved the freedom of cycling safely (the routes are there, now we need to work on their ‘road awareness’!). The village has lots of little restaurants and shops- with a supermarket not 100 metres down the road. A trip to the ice cream shop is a must- fabulous with late opening times too! Many thanks to David and Monique for also requesting decent weather for us!

“Picturesque Diever....Hidden Treasure in the Netherlands”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2014

Traveled to Diever with my father and four teenage daughters. From the moment we arrived, the owners went above and beyond to cater to our jet lag, as well as help with determining an itinerary for our stay. We rented bikes in Diever and enjoyed a day in the forest exploring, not to mention the ice cream shop we encountered. Home is very well maintained, allowing for plenty of room for our large group. Kitchen was much appreciated to help curb spending and eating out so frequently. After spending a day in the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, it was a welcome reprieve to return to the calmness of Diever. Plenty of restaurants around most within walking distance, which provide a large variety of fare....hoping to visit again soon.!
