Description

A spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment overlooking the sea, situated in the idyllic complex, El Faro. Just a 30 minute (30km) drive from Malaga airport. The location is suitable for all ages, as it is situated in a peaceful community but is also a 10 minute walk away from a sandy beach, bars, restaurants and a small supermarket.

The apartment accommodates up to 6 people. It has 2 bedrooms, the first, with a double bed and en-suite bathroom, opens out to the balcony. The second has 2 single beds. Both rooms have ample cupboard and under bed storage space. The open plan living area has a DVD player, stereo, dining table and a double bed settee. The living area opens to the balcony, equipped with sun loungers and overlooking the sea. The front of the apartment overlooks the communal pool (unheated) and attractive surroundings.

We usually can arrange to take you to and from the airport (there is a charge). Otherwise you can be met at the apartment . Any requests for groceries can be arranged for your arrival. Details of local services and recommended attractions to visit are provided.

The local beach has an adjoining restaurant and bar with alluring views over the sea, making it an ideal place to dine while the sun goes down. There is a good selection of restaurants within an easy walking distance (Spanish, international, seafood, Indian, Thai, Mexican, Italian, Chinese and fish and chips for the adventurous). Takeaways are available from all the local restaurants. The sports bar shows live football.

It is situated in an ideal location between Fuengirola and La Cala, both approximately 5km away. Local buses from El Faro can take you to both towns. Fuengirola features many restaurants, bars, shops and a beautiful stretch of beach. There is a water park and a zoo in the area as well as a newly built shopping mall and an extensive weekly market on a Tuesday. You can also climb up to the remains of the Moorish castle of Sohail or arrange a trip to spot dolphins in glass bottom boats. Fuengirola and Marbella (approximately 25km away) both have an exciting and lively night life.

La Cala is an appealing Spanish town, with an inviting beach, restaurants, bars, shops, internet café, banks and a supermarket. Outside the supermarket there is a bus stop and taxi rank, where you can reach any of the neighbouring towns from and bring back supplies with ease. The local transport means hiring a car is not essential. The area can be explored via local buses, car hire or coach tours that visit all the popular destinations. There is also a market worth visiting on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The area is known for its golf courses. El Chaparral Golf Club is an attractive club and easy to reach in the direction of Marbella. There are activities available for all the ages, such as go-karting, golf, tennis, horse riding, quad biking and water sports. El Chapparal an excellent course which features 6 par 3's, 6 par 4's and 6 par 5's. The prices are reasonable as well, such as the early riser price which provides you with a discount if you tee off before 9am.

If tennis is your sport, there are numerous clubs that you can go to. Many have a 'Pay and Play' session, where you can without membership. The Lew Hoad Tennis and Paddle club is in a beautiful area of tropical gardens. It is a friendly atmosphere, with players from all over the world competing in tournament. It is situated between Fuengirola and Mijas so a short journey from the apartment.

“Lovely Stay”

My family and I have just returned from 2 weeks holiday in El Faro. The apartment is as expected, very clean and tidy. Well equipped with everything you need, including free Wi-Fi. Easy reach of the beach, shops and various restaurants. Steep walk back up to the apartment if you do go out, but there is a slightly longer, less steep road taking you to the apartment as well. Contact with owner was very easy, they replied very promptly to any questions. Lilli on site was very helpful as well. Only negative would maybe be sunshine doesn’t reach the pool area till early afternoon but it’s still great for swimming at anytime. Thanks for a great stay.

“Excellent apartment with sea views, near to the beach and amenities”

We have stayed here a few times over the years. The owner Helene is very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. You have everything you need, lovely apartment, sea views, pictures don't do it justice, it is very nice and homely, very clean, quiet residential area. A short walk (5 minutes) to a Hotel down the hill which has a taxi rank outside to take you to La Cala or Fuengirola. There are one or two nice restaurants locally, Colinas, walking distance, Dona Maria, walking distance both serve excellent food and the prices are reasonable. The Beach is walking distance, less than 15 minutes. Local shop near the taxi rank has everything you need for provisions, food, drinks, milk, bread etc and it also has sun lotion, hats, glasses etc. Playa Marina shops, chemist, bar, restaurants, 15 minute walk, good Indian restaurant, Punjab Palace again reasonable prices. This apartment is very nice and well worth the money, thanks Helene we are looking forward to coming back !

Response from the owner Hello, first thank you for your lovely review. Also extremely useful information!These are restaurants that I haven't tried yet. Lilly also who looks after the apartment is always available if you have any problems.Lilly just lives a few minutes away. Lilly if available can provide transport to and from the airport, so door to door service. Also the local beach serves snacks and there is a restaurant on the beach which has lovely sea views and the food a bit more expensive but quality is worth it. Lovely sea view from the balcony and near to a couple of restaurants in 10-15 minute walk. Bus stop to Fuengirola and Cala de Mijas about 15 minute walk or 40 minute to each location if energetic along busy main road. One small basic shop within 5 minute walk and taxi site next to it. The apartment is spacious and has most facilities required in a budget rental including access to small clean pool area, this was not busy during our stay but very limited seating unless you have your own. The apartment offers reasonable value and has good WiFi with two bathrooms and large living area and lovely balcony. There is also a washing machine which can be good if carrying a small amount of luggage. The site manager (Lilly) is very helpful and shared the best local places with us. The owner corresponds quickly and allowed us an early entry after ensuring the property was ready. There is a beach about 20 minute walk but we did not use it as it is near the busy road, we went into Cala and Fuengirola instead.

Place is fantastic , so well equipped with all you would need . The views are spectacular a hidden gem . The owner Helene is so prompt with emails and queries to this establishment and Lilly the housekeeper is so good with anything we need . El faro is beautiful and nice eateries nearby .Have now booked for next year as the apartment is superb and Helene is superb with anything at all . A must book !!!
