“Great Location and Value”
Really enjoyed staying at this apartment. Great location, great hosts, and very spacious and comfortable. Included bikes, which is a HUGE plus. Great experience overall!
Response from the owner Thanks for THE compliments
“Lovely central, yet quiet base for a trip to amsterdam.”
This apartment was exactly what we wanted for our stay in amsterdam. Comfortable, clean and stocked with, 'the basics' as well enough food to make a very pleasant breakfasts. Before arriving I had been corresponding with Simon by email, he'd advised us on the best way to get to the apartment, via taxi and three different routes we could have taken by public transport. He'd sent me information on what was going on in the city and things that we might like to do. This meant that when we got to amsterdam we were well prepared for our time there. Simon was a very welcoming and charming host. He talked us through everything in the apartment and finally through a map giving clear and concise directions as to where everything was in relation to the apartment. I travelled with my parents who occupied the main part of the apartment, but I had my own separate area up a flight of stairs. This gave me my own space if I needed it and my own bathroom which was great. The only warning I would give to anyone is about the steps, they are several, small and steep! The apartment was exactly what we wanted, the sheets and towels could do with a bit of a refresh and the kitchen drawers could do with a bit of a clear out (there were some items in there we could simply not decipher) but other than that everything was great! We were also very pleased to find two episodes of Midsomer Murders on the DVD shelf :) brilliant.
“Superb location with everything we needed.”
Sunny apartment suited us very well. Simon was very welcoming and helpful on our arrival and the flat provide all we needed for a comfortable stay in amsterdam. We especially appreciated the well stocked kitchen and food in the fridge. No need to dash to the supermarket, which is just across the canal. The location was superb for albert Cyup market, shops, pubs and restaurants on Utrechsest, museums, and transport. We loved the area which was interesting without being too touristy ! Sunny apartment was quirky and homely and we got used to the very steep stairs! All in all we would recommend this apartment for a genuine amsterdam experience.
“Authentic amsterdam experience”
There is nothing like living as a local to experience the rich culture and vibrancy of a new city. Our hosts were very helpful in providing tips on activities that were tailored to our likes and interests. The apartment is in an excellent location, in a wonderful neighbourhood - central to the city. It made for a most enjoyable holiday. Terry and Terri
“Very holland holiday”
We stay very well in this tipical and central holland house. The owens leave the the breakfast and the bicycles to go in amsterdam and we can go everywhere in a few minutes. We come back! Thanks Simon and Gisele.
“Great stay in amsterdam”
My family of three stayed in the apartment for three days. The apartment location is very convenient, and we were very comfortable there. The neighborhood felt very safe. Simon was a very gracious host. He provided advice and information on getting around amsterdam, as well coffee and some breakfast food for the beginning of our stay. The bikes that came with the apartment were a big plus - we enjoyed biking around amsterdam. A steep flight of stairs leads up to the apartment. This was no problem for us, but is something that travelers who are elderly or who have limited mobility should be aware of.
“A great apartment owned by a gracious couple (Gisele and Simon)”
We had a wonderful time in amsterdam, thanks to Simon's patient assistance when we arrived. He introduced us to the city, he helped us get a Simm card for our phone and he diligently helped us with our delayed luggage. His personal attention and kindness were invaluable to us as we got settled for a 4 night stay in their apartment. It's a very nice apartment. It has a great kitchen with everything you'd ever need to use, a very comfortable king size bed, a nice bathroom with a washing machine, a wonderful stereo system and an ideal location that is very close to the Rijksmuseum, the concert hall, canal tours and trams to anywhere you'd want to go in the city. Best of all, the apartment comes with two bikes you can use during your stay. They were invaluable to us as we explored the city. They are older bikes, but Simon has done a good job of keeping them maintained. When taking a canal tour, we would strongly recommend that you take the canal tour on the Blue Boat Company. The tours start from a dock near the Rijksmuseum, that Simon suggested to us. The company has many boats. One in particular in their fleet is a smaller boat that does not have a glass top. It is ideal for taking a tour when it doesn't rain. Since it's a smaller boat, it goes where the larger tour boats can't go and because it does not have a glass top, the experience is much more enjoyable. The tour guide we had was a lifetime resident of the city, which made the ride even more enjoyable. The rest of our trip in Europe included visits to austria, Germany and Switzerland. We will always have fond memories of our stay in amsterdam - a remarkably beautiful, accessible and friendly city. Rest assured, when we return, we will stay in Gisele and Simon's apartment again.
“Perfect apartment for a city break.”
Stayed at this apartment for a weeks holiday in amsterdam. The location is great, and within easy walking distance of all major attractions. Also very easy to get to from the airport/train station. Well stocked supermarket just across the canal. The bikes are very useful too and make getting around muck quicker, though getting used to cadance breaking and no hand brakes took a while, and several near misses! The apartment (kitchen in particular) is well kitted out with everything you would need. Simon met us there and had also kindly supplied milk, yoghurt, butter, cheese, oranges, teabags, jam etc, which was very thoughtful/helpful. He also has great local knowledge for things to do. There is an ipod hook up, internet radio, tv and wifi should you need them. The only thing I would point out is the bathroom is across a communal, though little used, stairwell. Not a problem for us, but may not be to some preferences. Overall, we had a great stay and would come back again.
“Fabulous location enhanced by the charming owner”
Met by Simon, the owner, who gave a guided tour of the apartment and a welcome food pack which was happily received allowing us to relax after our long journey. Centrally located with just a 10 minute stroll down the canals to the museum district, or hop on the tram stop at the end of the road into central amsterdam. With a good selection of local bars and restaurants catering for all tastes within walking distance, means that we will be coming back.
“a charming place run by charming people”
The place is a nice typical amsterdam flat, well furnished(washing machine dishwasher cable tv) and with a decor filled with charming antiques that make you feel really like a place a friend just left for you. Located in a very quiet district but easily reached by many tram lines, specially two that take you there in 15 minutes directly from central station. It is also just one block from the busy albert cuyp market, and other everiday shopping places. It is owned by a friendly couple that will really help you around, and they even can provide a bike!!! the only "bad" point is that you will have to climb up two flights of stairs...but this is also part of a real amsterdam experience .I was there with my parents bothin their 80's and they did it with no trouble...
