“Amazing villa and fantastic owner/staff”

Reviewed 25 Feb 2015

We have just returned back from Sandul Villa and I have to say it was one of the most amazing experiences we have ever had!! The villa is very luxurious with a large pool and patio area. There are 5 bedrooms that are all air conditioned and spacious. One of the rooms has ensuite and there are another two bathrooms that are next door to the other bedrooms. There is also a lovely lounge area that we chilled out in after our lovely dinner at night. The villa is owned by Senaka and his family who live at the back of the villa in a separate house, so he was always to hand when you needed him, but we had our own privacy in the villa (best of both worlds). Senaka could not do enough for you and was always happy to help, even down to personally fetching us a curry from the local Indian restaurant (nothing is too much trouble for him). We had two fabulous chefs that made our amazing breakfast of eggs (any which way), toast, fruit platter and AMAZING Sri Lankan specialties that they made every morning for us to try. These were brought out by the lovely waiter who was so efficient and friendly. I just wished we could take all the staff back to England with us!! There was a pool man who attended twice a day to clean the pool and put our towels out on the comfortable sun beds around the garden and a lovely cleaner that we enjoyed talking to very much. In the morning after breakfast, the chef would ask if we wanted to have dinner in the villa and if we did, the staff would personally go out and buy the food and come back later that evening to cook it, presenting us with a fabulous meal of our choice (nothing too much trouble at all)!! It was my sister and brother in law's 35th wedding anniversary and we asked Senaka if he could arrange something special for them, which he did. The staff set up the table beautifully, surrounding it with decorations, candles and fireworks, along with two musicians/singers! He also arranged for them to have a beautiful cake. All this was a surprise for my sister and I can honestly say it was the best night we have had on holiday! I cannot recommend this villa enough and in a way, would love to have not shared this with anyone as I just know it will be booked up well in advance, it is so lovely. We will most definitely be back in the next few years. If you are looking for a tranquil, tropical environment to stay with a beautiful beach a kilometre away, then this is the place for you. Also, there are free tuk tuks to the beach that Senaka arranged for us.

“Wonderful days”

We spent two lovely weeks at Sandul Villa over Christmas and New Year. We were 10 people sharing the Villa and woke up every sunny morning to fantastic breakfast presented in a beautiful setting outside with excellent food incl several interesting local specialties. All services were better than we could haved hope for and we got support to arrange nice excursion over the island, such as safari, fishing and whale watching. We all recommend the Villa with the excellent Senaka who did his outmost to help us 24/7. Looking forward to come back!

“Great place and very friendly people - best place with young chi”

Reviewed 6 Jun 2013

We traveled as a family with two children (5 an 1,5 years) and stayed in Sandul Villa for one week end of march 2013. For us it is a perfect place, lots of space, great garden, very friendly and helpful people - all you need to make it easy traveling with little children. We always felt safe and sort of pampered and spoiled by Tarange and Sarat who came every morning to the villa to prepare breakfast for us, drive us around by tuk tuk (on demand) and cook fantastic dinners in the evenings. The villa is as great as it looks on the pictures. There´s even a baby seat for cars, baby chair and a baby bed available - all very clean and happy to be used. Senaka, his family and staff are very friendly and very helpful. The turtle farm, the boat trip on the river and the temple were great, most of the time we spent on the beach in the lagoon (which is ideal for little children) or "at home" on the terrace and in the garden. Senakas children came around and played with ours happily in the house and in the garden. When we continued our journey further south Senaka organized us a good driver and even borrowed the baby seat - the change to "normal" accommodations was huge and we told everyone we met on the journey to go to Sandul villa in Beruwela - a great place to stay. We hope very much to come back one day!

“Paradise on earth”

Having experienced the hospitality of Senaka and his lovely staff you will never want to stay anywhere else. Lovely house, excellent food, impeccable service etc. We stayed three adults and two boys (4 and 6). All modern amenities are available at the house and the beach nearby is perfect. You will not need to do anything but arrive and be pampered. Please, do not let the absence of a swimming pool keep you away (and Senaka is planning to make one later this year). Our boys had a great time with Sandul (Senakas boy), and we were as relaxed as ever not even having to think about what to choose for dinner. If you want to make any tours, Senaka has some excellent connections, who can help you to continue the great experience of Sri Lanka hospitality - even when you depart from "The Villa". We tell everyone we meet about our experience. This is a "must".

“Terrific stay at lovely villa in Beruwala, close to everything”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2013

We stayed for 4 days in Feb, 2013. We are 2 families: 2 couples and four kids. The villa is clean, spacious, well-maintained, and comfortable. Great value- affordable stay in a nice villa close to the beach with breakfast included. There are 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, and two dining areas so the villa can easily accomodate 2-4 families. Every morning the friendly staff arrived on time and prepared a great breakfast of omlettes, toast, sausage, fresh fruit, fresh juice, coffee, tea, and some tasty Sri Lankan breakfast items like lentils with noodles. We had dinner prepared twice which we ordered from a very reasonably priced menu (300-700 rupees per entree) that offerred the same items as local area restaurants and everything was freshly prepared in the kitchen right before our very eyes. You will get good service and home cooking. We had lots of fresh fish, seafood platters of calamari, prawns, and crab. The kids were happy with grilled chicken and fish with macaroni and cheese. Senaka was a helpful guide. He arranged rickshaws to and from the local beaches in Beruwala (only 900 meters away) and Bentota (10 min autorickshaw ride) and he arranged a car to take us to Unawatuna beach near Galle for the day (we paid separately for the car service). He also suggested that we go to the near by turtle hatchery (don't miss this!) and waterfalls (one hour away by car). Our family had a wonderful trip and we would definately come back to the villa. Senaka is working on building a pool which would definately entice me back to the villa. Even without the pool, the villa is a good bargain. You can easily spend everyday at the beach nearby so you don't really miss the pool. There is a lovely garden and outdoor dining table where we spend most our time.

“Sandul Villa”

We were a large group of 3 different generations visiting Sri Lanka for the first time. The villa exceeded our expectations. It was as pictured in the website. (high ceilings, spacious, tastefully decorated & clean). It was wonderful to eat our meals in the outdoor patio. The owner Senaka went out of his way to see to our needs & comfort. We learnt a lot about the ways of the Sri Lankan people thru Senaka. His wife & kids were very warm & welcoming as well. The location of the villa was ideal in the fact that it was close to the beach & turtle hatchery. It was one of the best places to relax. Senaka provided local transportation to and from the beach which was very inexpensive. The chef Taranga provided tasty Vegetarian Sri Lankan breakfast with Saranth doing a wonderful job setting up & serving us. Senaka made arrangements for our onward travels & our bus driver & guide Chandan were amazingly patient with us. Chandan showed us the rest of Sri Lanka thru a local's eyes & he had a wonderful sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed Kandy, Nuera Eliya, Yala, Galle, & Colombo with him. Finally,Senaka was an amazing host right from picking all of us at the airport and up until dropping my mom and dad back to the airport while we continued our travels...he is a very caring host who thought through everything. We highly recommend Sandul Villa to anyone wanting a wonderful Sri Lankan experience.

“Great vacation in Sri Lanka”

Sandul Villa is a perfect place to spend vacation with family or friends. This is a great villa with a beautiful garden located in a quiet area. The rooms in the Sandul villa are spacious, beautiful and always cleaned. Service at a high level. I was served by a very pleasant and friendly staff. Villa owner Senaka is very pleasant, sociable and interesting person with whom you can talk about different topics. The villa offers a wide selection of european cuisine and seafood. And you can ask to cook Sri Lankan dishes. In short, I spent awesome vacation.

“Best highlight of our entire holiday trip in Sri Lanka”

(1) Service we received The service levels in this hotel was fantastic. Owner Senaka as well as his staff were available at any moment to cater for your small and large needs. You would always feel as if you were been pampered and spoiled. (2) How we liked the home The home was very private, exclusive and peaceful. It felt like staying in a very comfortable place like your own home, yet without having to do the cleaning, washing up etc. So it was a great experience of simply enjoying the moment without having to worry about anything else. (3) Location and amenities assuming you have decided to stay Down South, this hotel is located very close the city center. There is at least one supermarket which is open till late evening and most needed amenities are nearby. Staff are available to even do the shopping for you or bring something you need. (4) What was liked best We really liked the fact that we could have ample space both internally and externally. There were lots of opportunities to have a larger group, a business meeting, business workshop at your own style. Overall this was the best highlight of our entire holiday trip in Sri Lanka.
