No hair dryer. Only one set of key for the door. Very inconvenience and ridiculous. Stay for 5 night. The towels are Wear Out and Stain are every where and smell. ( you have to put them close to your skin to dry your body after shower, very disgusting). The cooking pot are Rusty and Stain all around. The pan are in bad condition. My bed sheet has a big stain too. How you can expect you will have a good health to stay there to enjoy your vacation. I shot the photo complain to Tatjana. And she said that's her mothers house. And no one send us some new towel to replace the bad one. Very disappointed. I won't recommend to anyone to stay there until they correct all the mistakes. I don't want to next person waste their money like me.
Response from the owner Unfortunately our home was not the right fit for this guest. We were sorry that she did not enjoy her stay and found the place unsuitable. She is correct to say there is no hair dryer (but we also do not advertise having on in the amenities). This home is located in the Galapagos, near the ocean where things are affected by sea air and very strong sun. Regardless we do all that is possible to keep the home and its contents maintained as best as possible. We also cannot always control how our guests treat house items. I checked the items mentioned and found some heat stains on some of the pots and a small bleach stain on the towel - not nothing that would be a health hazard. And the house and contents are in good condition - but perhaps not good enough for this particular guests needs. I would have gladly replaced the towel, but the guest never asked for a new towel, she only sent a blurry photo which I could not entirely decipher. She also asked me to not send the cleaner in at all during her stay. I spent months communicating with this guest trying to help her prepare for her trip to the islands and giving her suggestions for tours etc, I hope that the rest of her experience in the islands was a positive one. All in all, we are sorry this went badly. But we also know that pretty much all our other guests have really enjoyed this home. We have taken note of her comments to make sure that the experience is better for our next guests.
We stay 27 dec to 3 jan 2014, the house is clean and confortable, all that we need was there for cooking. Near the entrance to the Playa Tortugua and 5 min. to downtown. Ruban, the taxi conductor can take you for a daily tour he is very gentle. And Maria the housekeeper is gentle too. I recommand this place to stay.
Response from the owner Thank you Nathalie! I am glad you enjoyed your stay
“Clean, Modern, Roomy house in perfect location”
We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Tortuga... it is a perfect little garden oasis... and it is so close to the waterfront walk and food kiosks! The house is located in a very nice part of town and the evening walk to the food kiosks was always very pleasant. Maria, who looks after the house, was very friendly and had fresh fruit on the table when we arrived. The house is roomy and well-equipped and soon feels like home. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms could be challenging for folks with knee/hip problems. We would definitely stay here again. The cooler of fresh water was highly appreciated on hot sunny days!
Response from the owner Thank you for your review, I am glad you enjoyed the garden and the location. All the best to you :)
“Tricky start but great finish!”
My husband, two boys (3 and 5) and my parents booked the bigger house (villa opuntia) but there was an oversight in the reservation and the house was double booked. We arrived late at night and a family already there, bummer. We contacted the owner and she was very apologetic and assured us that never happens! She went above and beyond to work with us and quickly accommodated us in villa Tortuga. Fits 4 instead of 6, but was very big as well. They gave us an extra mattress and we were very comfortable. The house is gorgeous. Nice kitchen with everything you could ask for to cook!, pots, plates, utensils, microwave, mugs, coffee maker, etc. the full kitchen worked out great as we decided to cook most of the time (buying fresh fish close by at the pier) saving us money. The bedrooms were a great size, good beds too. The house also has a nice tV area with movies which was great for the kids to keep them entertained. They would've been crazy in a small hotel room! The house also had a outdoor patio which was very nice. Furniture is great, solid wood and accent pieces, very cozy. Balconies were nice too. There was hot water for showers (friends that stayed in close by hotels said they only had hot water for 2 minutes!). I was not able to connect to internet but i didnt mind. Weather was cool in nov, so i never turned on the aC, only ceiling fans. Bonus, full washer and dryer which i did use! Lastly, Maria the housekeeper was a sweetie. Very respectful and educated, made our stay very pleasant. She cleans the houses twice a week i believe. I only stayed 4 nights so it was once for me. House is walking distance from the pier where you get boat tours, nice restaurants, etc. there were small stores close by for water, milk, food etc. it is also very close to Tortuga Bay, a must see beach in galapagos. Overall great experience, my kids loved the house as well. Would definitely recommend it, just make sure to confirm your stay/reservation prior to arrival! (Which i didnt do)
Response from the owner Thank you again for being so understanding and patient on this matter, I really appreciate your flexibility. It was a huge mistake on my part. I am glad it all worked out in the end, I cannot thank you enough for being so flexible. All the best to your family!
“A great experience”
My sons and I stayed at Villa Tortuga for 10 days. It was a wonderful experience. The house was better than we expected, very comfortable and cozy. It had everything we needed to feel at home. The location was excellent, at walking distance to Puerto ayora and also to the beautiful Tortuga Bay, which I think is the most beautiful beach in the area. It was great to return to the Villa after the beautiful day tours we did. The house has a very peaceful atmosphere, hidden in an exotic garden which is carefully kept . We followed Tatjana's recommendations and everything worked out perfectly well. Maria the house keeper was sweet and helpful and Marco the taxi driver was always ready to help. Thank you Tatjana for a wonderful time!
Response from the owner Thank you for your kind comments Diana, glad you had such a nice time! And thanks for posting the beautiful photos!!
“Charming, private, characteristic & excellent location”
The property is detached and in a private garden offering seclusion and an interesting garden full of birds. Its location close to the walking trail to Tortuga beach, one of the most spectacular we came across, is within easy walking distance. In the opposite direction within a few minutes walk are shops, restaurants and the harbour. The facilities provided, including full kitchen and a BBQ, good shower and bathroom, were very good. The property is clean and well serviced by the very helpful Maria. The transfer arrangements to and from the house worked perfectly. Maybe a couple of the furnishings could do with a little renewal but not enough to detract from the overall lovely property and location. The price of the weeks rental seemed very fair and reasonable. We wish we had the time to stay longer.
“Spacious and quiet House near City Center”
Villa Tortuga was a lovely and affordable home for my boyfriend and I while we stayed on Santa Cruz. On a quiet, residential street and in a safe walled off complex I felt safe and welcomed. We had a very nice housekeeper greet us as we arrived and show us around the house. It was clean and spacious and a nice change from cramped hotels. It was about a 5-10 minute from the city center but still close to many places. The only cons I could think of were there were no clocks set (with the time difference we got confused and rarely knew what time it was- more out fault though) and that there were tile floor issues in the main bedroom which made walking over it a little odd but overall somewhere I would stay again. And Tajiana was extremely helpful and friendly via our email correspondence!
