Description

Experience the Mediterranean in Antigua. This house was built with a tri-level design. It has many nice features, including Spanish Colonial architecture throughout the house.

With 4 bedrooms, 3 and a half bathrooms (a bathroom was added a couple of months ago), a Studio/Family-room, with a sofa-be and a fireplace. Living-room area with fireplace, dining room, spacious kitchen, maid quarters, a terrace, front and back patios.

In a very secure area, close to restaurants and churches, It is very close to commercial area of Antigua. About 7 blocks from Central Park and just 3 blocks from Central Market.

I don't suggest renting a car as it is within walking distance from anything you may need in Antigua.

I will help you with anything you may need during your stay in Antigua or with anything you may need when you visit Guatemala.

Within walking distance to anything you may need in Antigua or you can use a 'tuk-tuk' to get anywhere in the city for about $1.25 one way.

There are NOT many places inside the town Antigua that are vacation rentals. Most of the places if you read carefully are only one room rentals, Hotels or Hostels (price per person, per room or per bed) You may find other rentals that match may match my rates, however they are far away from Antigua. I have experienced this with other renters that chose a different house and they wound up in a place very far from Antigua. This house has good lighting and ventilation throughout the whole house, with lots of windows. I have another vacation rental next door. See listing #3808848. Please see description and reviews.

Response from the owner These guests were kind of peculiar to say the least. I tried to accommodate different needs, from getting groceries to getting padlocks for the doors. Antigua is a very safe place to stay and particularly at my house, however, they were concerned with safety therefore I purchase locks to make them comfortable. Suggested places to go eat. There was a problem with the stove. The guest who stayed prior to them failed to tell me that there was a problem. The problem was fixed right away and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I gave them instructions on a number of things to be aware in Antigua. On trash day they took the trash cans out of the house, rather than only the trash bags or wait for the trash man to knock and get the trash, therefore, my trash cans went along with the trash. On the they they checked out, they left the kitchen full of trash, as well as food on plates all over the counter. It was a holiday therefore housekeeping was not done until a couple of days later and it was a mess. This created a problem with roaches which we had to treat afterwards. I took down the listing to take care of it. These guests were very inconsiderate and ungrateful for everything we did for them. Communication between guests and owners to fix any problem or avoid any inconvenience. I take pride in providing a safe and pleasant place for my guests to make their vacation a very good experience. Response from the owner This guest is writing this review because he failed to mention that he also booked my other house for these dates as well. The house was supposedly for his brother. A few days before their arrival date, his brother tried to cancel. He asked me if he could cancel and get his money back as I had received half of the stay to reserve the house. I explained to him that I had forfeited other business opportunities by reserving the house for him. That it was too late to cancel and return his money. I offered him to change the dates and use the credit towards another day in the future. A few days later, his sister in law called my office trying to get their money back. Apparently this turned into a family conflict. I tried to reason with them but is hard to reason with unreasonable individuals. Apparently they did have a couple of problems during their stay. One of them had to do with the hot water. Apparently the circuit overloaded and the circuit breaker triggered. They said they called us to report the issue but is not true either. We know traveling is fun, however, it can turn into a nightmare if you don't have a good experience, particularly when you don't know the culture or the language of the country you are visiting. Personally, I admire your courage to rent a car and travel by land through a country you don't know. Road conditions and directions are very different from the United States. I'm glad everything worked out for you. I was worried and concern because I feel responsible for my guests during their stay in Guatemala. As much as I want to have a great time, I know it depends on the hospitality of the citizens of Guatemala. For the most part, Guatemala's citizens are cordial and helpful but sometimes they can be very hard to work with. The laws and customs in Guatemala are very archaic and unpractical at times.
