“Bilss on the Hill”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2015

We just finished a great stay at Casa Hortencias. We loved the property. The location was great, just above Old Town so we could walk to everything. Took a cab a few times later in the evening to get back home. It was easy and inexpensive The home is beautifully appointed and the service was great. Leti, our maid, was charming and took care of everything we needed. We could not believe how ´´at home´´ we felt at Casa Hortencias. So relaxing and comfortable! They really have thought of everything. Plush beach towels, comfortable sheets, dimmers on all the lights to create ambiance, stocked kitchen, wifi, you name it. Although we spent many evenings exploring the great restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, we did have a few meals at home and hired Maria one night to cook for us. It was a great experience. She served us our authentic Mexican dinner up on the terrace where we could take in the magnificent view of Vallarta and watch the sun go down. Pure Bliss. We also loved the rooftop pool area during the day and spent lots of time up there enjoying the sunshine. We had a great time and will definitely be back!

“Always perfect”

I've stayed at Jeffrey's rentals many times and his team always delivers the best service. Casa Hortencias is a great house with plenty of space to spread out. We really love the pool/deck area, it has a beautiful view of the bay and is the perfect place to relax with your friends.

“There is magic in this home”

Jeffery, the only thing missing is you. We just had an afternoon shower and a cool, soft breeze is coming up the hillside caressing the hummingbirds as they flit between feeders. As you know, I have always loved your home, and spending some time here makes celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary very special. There is " magic" in this home and we appreciate you sharing it with us. Sandy Miller Denver, Colorado

“Casa Hortencias - Amazing !!”

We travelled from australia to visit Puerto Vallarta for the first time 29 June to 5 July From booking to check in everything was easy. Pickup at the airport by Pedro, groceries and wine waiting for us when we got there. The Casa is very comfortable, great view, awesome rooftop pool and lounging area. Easy to get a cab down the hill for $4. We had the best stay. thanks to Sarah for organising a birthday cake for our daughter's birthday. Recommend eating at Blue shrimp and No Way Jose. Day trip to Sayulita and Islas Mariatas were great. People of PV made us feel so welcome. We felt very safe in the streets of PV and in the neighborhood of the Casa. Love this holida home. Thanks Jeffrey for sharing your lovely home, we will be back to PV for more shopping, mexican food and tequila!! Cheers

Response from the manager Adrienne, I am so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Hortencias. You were a long way from home so I´m happy that we could make you feel welcome and comfortable. Sounds like you made the most of what Vallarta and area had to offer in terms of restaurants and excursions! My staff works hard to make sure you have a wonderful vacation so I´m pleased to hear that was the case for you and your family. Cheers to you!

“Awesome view from our own private rooftop pool and garden.”

Family of 6,4 grown children, perfect accommodation and setting for all of us to be comfortable. The heated pool every night looking down on P.V., the ocean and the night sky was fantastic. We couldn't imagine being anywhere else in P.V. & will definitely return to Casa Hortencias. Grocery shopping for us pre arrival was extremely help-ful, Marie cooking dinner(+ drinks/appetizers/dessert) was great. Wonderful restaurants in town, tried a few that were recommended by Jeffery Hill (owner)as well as finding some on our own. Easy walk to town, we found the hidden path which was faster. Too much to do in only one week, two went diving and saw manta rays, all went to botanic gardens via local bus, rented jeep for an afternoon, walked all over P.V. and bargained on all the "stuff" we brought back with us, one of the best vacations we have ever had. Staff employed by Mr. Hill very helpful and friendly. Everyone we met in P.V. seemed to be happy, helpful, proud of their city, hard working and appreciated that we attempted to use our high school Spanish! Already looking forward to returning and staying at Casa Hortencias.

We wanted to get away to Puerto Vallarta. Our "wish list" was a pool, we wanted a view, we wanted it to be "easy", we wanted to bring our baby, Wolfie, a mini schnauzer...we got over the top! Way beyond our expectations. Casa Hortensia is stunning. The whole bay and downtown are at your feet on both terraces; the living room/bedroom floor and the top terrace with lounge, grill, bathroom, palapa, and private, heated pool. The staff is so gracious and accommodating. We adore Lettie, our housekeeper, who came 6 days a week and even washed and folded our laundry. We wish we could have lured here back to the us with us. Ricardo, one of Jeffrey's property managers, was always available to us. We really appreciated that. The gardener/pool guy kept the pool and terraces immaculate. This property has everything you need and more, 3 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 terraces and a private, heated pool. I don't think there is a "5 star" hotel in the area that could have provided what we got at Casa Hortensia. Thank you for the most relaxing vacation of our lives!

This was my second visit to PV and thought of staying no where else but with one of jeffrey hills houses. Last year I stayed at Casa allegre . This year I stayed a week at Casa allegre and a week at this house. The service again was outstanding! Super helpful and as I was traveling solo a comfort to have. The house is designed beautifully, the view is wonderful but not what the photos depict . New buildings are now surrounding the pool so your privacy feels somewhat invaded. If u prepare for that it is not a problem. Location is great but do prepare yourself for it. The Internet worked very well but doesn't work at pool level which did disappoint me. Finally the noise, wow! Because you are overlooking a valley the sound travels . If you are a group and create your own party their then the other noise will only enhance your stay. If you are wanting a quiet swim at night wear ear plugs. The music from neighboring hotels is outrageous.( it does stop at midnight ) and the dogs . I own one myself but these barked non stop. Oops and finally , again. I wanted to spend the day at the beach and then cool off in the pool in the late afternoon sun. The pool gets morning sun only, after 3pm the pool area is in the shade and gets quite cold. And the all important would I stay their again... No. I would stay at Casa allegre , another Jeffrey Hill. A smaller pool but in a locals neighborhood that is wonderful. It is alot quieter bar the roosters , which i like. I am a huge fan of Jeffrey hill. Never met him but from start to finsh the service was impeccable . I just wish he had properties elsewhere, I won't go back to PV , sorta done that but would like to explore more of Mexico. I just reread my review, it sounds sorta negative and it wasn't a bad experience . The points I made were things that surprised me and ultimately Impacted on my stay.

“Beautful house in a beautiful city”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2012

My family thouroughly enjoyed our stay at this fabulous house. The service was amazing. Lety the housekeeper was out of this world. We had Maria make us dinner one night and she and her son made the most magnificent Mexican dinner for us. My family included some older people who found the walk down the hill a little challenging, so for older folks or those with physical limitations, you might find yourself using a taxi more. But all in all, the rooftop pool was our favorite place to lounge in the afternoons with a cold cerveza or margarita. And we loved Bbqing our dinners up there and dining al fresco. This house is gorgeous on the inside... highly recommended!

I have been staying at Jefferey's properties for about 10 years and Casa Hortencias is my all time favorite. From the rental experience with Jeffery to the staff to the property itself, the experience is top notch and an incredible value for all you get. I have many family memories built there and am looking forward to renting again in 2013. The home is spectacular with top notch finishes and furnishings. It truly feels like your home away from home from the minute you walk in the door.
