This home provides the perfect private space for a family or group of friends to experience the lush and historic valley. Hike or drive (4X4) into the valley to see its 1200ft Hiilawe Waterfall, swim or picnic at the black sand beach, view Maui and whale watch from the lanai or just fall asleep in the hammock to the sounds of the ocean waves below.

Getting around

The house has a paved road and no 4WD is needed to get to the property. The road to the valley is steep and you may want to rent a 4WD, but it can be walked in 30 min to the beach and get good exercise.

Interaction with guest

We have a property manager who is a Native Hawaiian, Danelle, that has lots of experience and is full of the Aloha spirit. Our grounds people include Rhavi and Noah who also are natives and grew up around the area, and have spent a significant portion of their life in the valley.

Our second stay was as wonderful as the first. Comfortable home and excellent access to the Valley. The outdoor shower is the best. Noah and his family are warm and accommodating.

Response from the owner I spoke with our manager, and a lot of the statements weren't true. We did have a lot of rain during there stay which will keep everything damp. The studio is really only for two and the upstairs has four bedrooms plus a sleep sofa. The manager told me that the problems with roaches, and I'm sure they were big ones, were because they had pilled up a lot of trash in the garage, and it was a large party. Our manager is very meticulous about keeping the place clean. They did not follow house rules about where to smoke and they left residual traces of what they were smoking in the bed. The house however did not smell of smoke after their stay. The doors are in working order and the shower head had been replaced. The master has a Jacuzzi tub that has a hand held shower head that we have had people spraying the wood and trim with, so we have left instructions not to use. There is and outdoor shower to use. The road is narrow and we are remote and are on a rain catchment system, but our view is better than the Waipio Look Out which is the 2nd most visited place on the island.One can easily walk from there to our house, though not visible, and thus remote feeling: the easiest remote place to get to on the island!
