Koa Hale-Oceanfront Home 3 BR/3 BA Sleeps 8

Kailua-Kona house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 8

“Dramatic ocean views and close snorkel beach in a beautiful home” We recently stayed at this property with our daughter and her family which included my 2 grandkids, ages 6 and 9. We've been to Hawaii several times as a two generation family, but found this house with its location to be our favorite to date. Kids snorkeled at nearby snorkel beach almost every day. House is well maintained and equipped. We watched lots of fish, turtles and even say whales just sitting on the deck. The house is quiet at night. Having bedrooms on either side of the main living area gave everyone plenty of privacy. House is air conditioned, but they don't automatically leave you the controls. It was warm during our visit, so the air was needed at times. Property manager charges extra $25 per day for a/c. If we hadn't asked the people cleaning before we arrived, we might have spent some uncomfortable times. Anyway, be sure to ask about a/c. Otherwise, a super location and very nice home right on alii Drive.

Ocean Front Kona Makai Perfect Sunset Views Furnished 1 bedroom Condo

Kailua-Kona condo

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Execellent and affordable place to stay in Kona.” We have stayed here five times in past seven years. It is definitely our favorite place to stay in Kona. We have visited every Hawaiian island except Lanai. The Big Island is our favorite and the Kona Makai is a wonderful, beautiful, quite and relaxing place to stay. Grills are located on the ocean front. Excellent sunsets with the occasional "green flash." Walk to town, restaurants, church, numerous beaches and stores. We highly recommend it to family and friends.

Private apartment at Killino Kona Coffee Farm SPECIAL RATE check us out

Captain Cook apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“True Hawaiian relaxation. We got away from it all Hawaiian style” After several visits to Hawaii and staying in the commercial resorts, we wanted to experience true aloha and see what life was like vacationing in coffee country. My wife and I discovered the Killino farm. It is tucked away in a secluded area, so peaceful and serene. The coffee and fresh fruits were excellent and the room was relaxing. The host family were like long lost friends, making us feel at home right away. We we able to get in the ocean everyday while also making day trips to discover other parts of the island. The small town feel really was a great break from life back home on the east coast. We enjoyed our stay so much that we intend to return again and will send our friends here. The only thing we'd want to change, was the length of our stay. We could easily stay for a month. This is just a wonderful place.

“Beautiful Paradise” This immaculate well maintained condo came equipped with everything needed to snorkel, body board, picnic or just rest by the ocean. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The condo grounds, pool area, hot tub and barbecue were very well maintained. The office staff, Kitty , welcomed us when we checked in and represented the condo owners with courtesy and kindness. The owners provided us with locations of stores to purchase groceries or whatever needed. Their personal touches on their condo made us feel like we were at home.

Keauhou house

“Kona townhouse” Great location...just need a little more of supply esp dish soap...otherwise the place is great...well supplied...Enjoyed the visit and the stay. It needs to have a big recycle bin next the trash bin...the only recycle bin we found is next to the pool/office. Also the property needs some upgrade...the window blinds at the other room is broken... bathtub upstairs needs more cleaning...sort of dirty... but downstairs shower is accessible and clean.

“Absolutely Awesome!!!” Words cannot describe how much we loved our stay! From the lovely ocean view, the sound of the waves, the well stocked supplies (everything you could think of),the friendly and helpful hosts, the gorgeous weather, to the relaxation and rejuvenation we enjoyed, this place is wonderful. The only negative thing we could think of was that there was no way to slow down the time so we could enjoy it longer! We explored most of the Big Island, but this was one of our favorite spots. We celebrated our 10th anniversary here and would love to come back and revisit some of the many beautiful places we discovered. We spent many hours watching and listening to the waves, watching for and seeing whales, and experiencing the ocean. Another highlight was kayaking across the bay with many, many dolphins swimming all around us! If you have a chance, I highly recommend booking this place!

“Family Vacation of a life time!” I'm in love with this beach house! This is our second out of many more stays here. Ours is a family of 5 with 3 children (6, 8, and 13) and we need room! This house is great as it has lots of room for our family. Loved the wrap around porch and we spent almost every evening grilling. We like this house because of the location as it is not your typical tourist trap setting. It has everything we needed plus more for our stay. We can't wait to come back!! Thank you for other amazing stay.

Ocean front condo next to Reeds Bay in Hilo, HI

Hilo apartment

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“A totally excellent surprise!!!” Well, the reviews were not very inspiring -- but I had spoken with the owner and been assured there had been a bit of "sprucing up", new coffee maker, etc. . What an understatement!! It was clean,, comfortable, appealing decor, very well stocked and perfectly safe. It is a corner unit with fabulous views of a private little lagoon, the cruise ship landing and the open ocean. Saw whales!! Yes, it's an old building in the tropics, but with all you get for the $, it is a 5 star deal! It is also one of the best locations in Hilo. Really nice staff--helpful and friendly, oceanfront pool, too! Book now because this is a secret that won't stay secret long!

“Kona Hawaii Stay” The bad: no air conditioning or elevator. Billed as a three bedroom was actually only two with fold out. A toilet was leaking a little as well as bath room faucet- no big deal really. The good- absolute priceless ocean view with great privacy and superb lanai. Very nice furnishings, art work and flat screen. Private gated condos with excellent landscaping. The unit was also very large for the money. Would we stay here again? - absolutely!

“First Timer to Big Island” Excellent property with everything that one would need including beach gear! Great response from management staff Very clean modern unit. Only minor problem was previous renter had broken master bedroom door handle so we couldn't close door properly but staff had it on order. Also needed to get more laundry detergent and a new battery for a fan remote but Alesia was great about it and got it by the next day for us. Great location next to shopping. Will be looking for this unit next time we visit Hawaii

The unit has central air conditioning. It was very hot 93 degrees and humid out. Easy to throw the trash as we left the garage which is under the building. Lots of guest parking. “Some patina but well maintained and great location” The property is old (as we knew from the description) but in very good condition. We would suggest to add a water boiler since the antique stove is slow and inconvenient. But this is a minor issue, altogether the property is very nice, spacious, in good condition, we would definitely use it again and recommend it to others. Particularly the pool is just great - large and deep, made for diving.

About Island of Hawaii

Hawaii's name sake island, also the largest of the chain, has some of the most unique sights for visitors. The island is made up of five separate volcanoes, of which three are active and one has been continually erupting since the late 1980s. The red hot lava that pours from the Kilauea volcano is a fascinating natural occurrence and a rarity to witness. As a result of the lava that is constantly being added to the area, the beaches on the Big Island are a Hawaiian dream! Visit the pure white ribbons of coastal Kailua-Kona, the emerald sands of the Puna region, or the black beaches of Punalu'u, each a drop of paradise.

The Big Island is more than just sandy perfection. For nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers, Hawaii offers an unparalleled mixture of elements. There is endless opportunity to explore, from the deep thickets of the rainforest to the blustery summit of the volcano peaks. The Big Island also houses the second largest waterfall in the world: Akaka Falls, a graceful giant that is simply spectacular.

Here are a few additional suggestions for your trip:

  • Go scuba diving: The reef ecosystems around the big island are fantastic places to encounter colorful fish, sea turtles, and a bewildering variety of marine life.
  • Take a surfing lesson: The glassy waves of Hawaii make this one of the most beautiful surfing destinations in the world. There are plenty of surf schools here with patient, knowledgeable instructors who can help you get started.
  • Visit Volcanoes National Park: Hike with an experienced guide and explore lava tube trails through a tropical jungle paradise of gigantic ferns and tropical flowers.
  • Stroll historic Kailua Village: Go shopping, experience the nightlife and see some of the Big Island's important historic sites in this charming seaside village.
  • Take a whale watching tour: The Big Island is a great place to charter a boat trip and have close encounters with grey whales or humpbacks depending on the season.

-Play a round of golf: Big Island Hawaii golf courses are truly champion caliber. Professional golfers come from around the world to tee off on these emerald green fairways.

For unforgettable family reunions, honeymoons, and weddings, Big Island Hawaii makes an ideal tropical destination. Make the most of your vacation in paradise by staying in your own private vacation rental. Find a trendy condo in the heart of downtown Hilo, close to the shopping and nightlife, or stay in a luxury rental home with beautiful views of the ocean. While you're planning your getaway to Big Island Hawaii, consider scheduling some time on the other beautiful islands in the chain like Oahu and Maui.

Private apartment at Killino Kona Coffee Farm SPECIAL RATE check us out
It felt like home

This is a very well appointed apartment, which made it feel like home. Met with flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit from the farm. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai with views out to the distant water. The evenings brought the farm alive with sounds of the coqui frogs and geckos. Todd gave us a farm tour, we learned much from him and his daughter! We made good use of the boogie boards, beach chairs and snorkel gear, much appreciated! The only downside is it is difficult to find after dark, if arriving then. Also be aware that Captain Cook area is a bit far removed from everything. We did a lot of driving, but felt it was worth it to come back to this sweet place every night.see more
Honu Kai Hale - Oceanfront home on Kahalu'u Bay
Amazing location!

The location is the best! Literally "on" the water. Not swimming sand beach - that's 1 mile down at Magic Sand Beach. But the best for snorkling and surfing. The only reason for the less than 5 stars is that the interiors (furniture, appliances, counters, floors, etc.) are a bit dated and old. We don't want to give false impression to future renters (sorry Julie). We are not the kind to care about the interior furnishing but wanted to be honest. Julie (owner) was very responsive with home info after payment. Jeff (caretaker) was amazing. We love this place so much that we would definitely return.see more
Private bungalow with spectacular ocean view and hot tub
A Beautiful Space and Beautiful Hosts

We spent 15 days on the Big Island with Sandy and Fred, and we appreciated each and every one of those days and nights we were there. We drove from Hilo to this home late at night, when we arrived Fred was there to guide us to our parking spot and to give us a quick tour of the space and to introduce us to the hot tub (which we totally used that night). He was so friendly and such a welcome sight after our drive. The space itself was out of a magazine. Gorgeous details, an incredibly comfy king-size bed, a lovely cross breeze that made the use of fans unnecessary at night, the tiling in the bathroom was gorgeous (thanks to Fred's handiwork), and the space itself was cozy and perfect - we had everything we needed in one spot. When we woke up the next morning the landscape took our breath away - it was otherworldly! Staying on a lava field was wild and beautiful! The view of the ocean greeted us each morning and I never got tired of seeing it. Sandy and Fred --- they are the best hosts we've EVER stayed with. So kind, friendly, helpful, generous, and thoughtful. I never ran out of lilikoi (passion fruit)! I felt like we were well taken care of as guests and I appreciated their hospitality. Honestly, we've never felt so welcomed or at home as we did with Sandy and Fred. I appreciated how centralized we were on the island, and it gave us an incredible sense of how diverse the climate zones are on Hawaii Island - we didn't mind driving so this location was perfect for our stay. Sandy and Fred are a wealth of information about the island, so if you're not sure about where to go or what to do, ask! We will definitely visit again, very soon. It took me a while to post this review because I don't fully feel like I've left that beautiful oasis. Mahalo Sandy and Fred!see more

Great condo with awesome amenities

This is our second time at the Kanaloa at Kona complex. We thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities including the 3 pools, tennis courts, and ping pong. The complex is right on the ocean and we could hear the waves from our lanai. The condo was stocked with needed essentials and met our family's needs. Grocery store nearby. We would definitely stay here again.see more
'Palaoa House' w/Lanai+Ocean Views-By South Point
Lovely comfortable home with great views

My husband and I stayed in the lovely Palaoa House for 5 nights the end of Jan. It was one of the most comfortable places we have stayed during our many years of travel. It felt like home. And it was spotless! The home is well stocked and thoughtfully laid out. Great lanai and spectacular uninterrupted views of the ocean. Julie has some fruit trees and openly shares whatever is ripe. What a treat! She also provides some beach gear and a coffee grinder. Much appreciated. It’s beautifully dark at night (even with one uphill neighbor brightening their entry throughout the night). On a waning or moonless night the stars and galaxies look to be so close. Great spot for night photography. Nights are quiet, and dawn does bring the crow of neighboring roosters signaling the coming of a beautiful sunrise and coffee time. It does rain in this area but the sun does shine a lot too. Nice to have the carport and full sized washer and dryer. We had a great time exploring South Point Road and Ka’u district stops at fruit, coffee, macadamias & chocolate and orchid farms, this time without the long drive from the west coast! Great food truck in Na’alehu! We hiked to Green Sand beach this trip - previous visits we had driven a Jeep, and paid for the exciting ride in with the locals. The hike was an easy and beautiful one! Highly recommended as long as you get there early and leave before the heat of the afternoon (if it’s a hot day). Plus you can have the beach to yourselves if you get there early enough. The olivine sand and weathered caldera, short hikes around the area and the hike to get there and back are worthy of many visits! We followed Julie’s recommended sites to see and have new favorite places to visit again. Wood Valley and the drive between Na’alehu and Pāhala are history filled gorgeous routes. It was so nice to have the shorter drive to Volcanoes NP, and to Punalu’u - aka Black Sand/Turtle Beach. In addition to the beach, the coast line and tide pools behind and south of the rest rooms are beautiful! We highly recommend the comfortable and well located Palaoa House as a base for south and east side island explorations. Or for a peaceful place to just hang out.see more

Wonderful oceanfront condo

Our stay was so wonderful in this 2 bedroom condo. It’s decorated beautifully, has a well stocked kitchen, and roomy for 4 adults. The ice maker was broken, which put a damper on our Mai-Tais, but we made do. The location is ideal, with groceries and restaurants nearby. The ocean was just off our patio, which offered lots of privacy from other units. It’s a condo I would definitely rent again!see more
