“Kilino Farm” Stayed in upper level of house. Great view up there. Lower level was rented at the time. House very well equipped. Better than expected. Four of us stayed there quite comfortably. Really met our needs. Hosts/owners were great. Family dog was a great bonus. Very close to snorkelling areas which was what we wanted mostly.

“Absolutely Awesome!!!” Words cannot describe how much we loved our stay! From the lovely ocean view, the sound of the waves, the well stocked supplies (everything you could think of),the friendly and helpful hosts, the gorgeous weather, to the relaxation and rejuvenation we enjoyed, this place is wonderful. The only negative thing we could think of was that there was no way to slow down the time so we could enjoy it longer! We explored most of the Big Island, but this was one of our favorite spots. We celebrated our 10th anniversary here and would love to come back and revisit some of the many beautiful places we discovered. We spent many hours watching and listening to the waves, watching for and seeing whales, and experiencing the ocean. Another highlight was kayaking across the bay with many, many dolphins swimming all around us! If you have a chance, I highly recommend booking this place!

Charming Tropical Hideaway, Pool, Hot Tub, Snorkel

Captain Cook apartment

“We wanna go back!” The name, Tropical Hideway, is perfect. If you want fancy, go elsewhere. The cabin has all the basics plus Kathleen Carr's fabulous photos on the wall. The gardens complete with delicious fruit are wonderful. Quiet, peaceful. We would get up, get the morning's fruit, eat a fun breakfast (we would be joined by a little gecko that liked the honey in my tea apparently), then off to snorkel a few miles away - how much better does it get? then back to the cabin, shower in the great outdoor shower, then into the hot tub. Rest awhile, to go lunch at some of the wonderful nearby cafes, then maybe to the farmer's market. You get the drift - life is hard eh? This was absolutely a perfect place for us - back as soon as possible for us!

“Over the moon” My husband and I stayed at this enchanting cottage for 10 days. I have to say I can not remember a time that we enjoyed ourselves more. Harry was awsome and very informative. The cottage had everything we needed and more. Harry had thought of everything from an Ice chest to snorkeling gear and more which was at our disposal. There were books about the island and maps and even suggestions on restaurants and grocery stores. I honestly can not think of one thing he has forgotten. The location is centrally located which made it easy for us to take a day trip and still be able to make it home before dark. We would definately stay here again and hope to very soon. Thank you Harry and we hope to see you again soon. Samih and Anita from Oklahoma

Romantic S Kona Cottage wth Incredible Oceanview
Breathtaking Oceanviews from Makalani Cottage!

"Breathtaking Oceanviews from Makalani Cottage!” Makalani Cottage in Captain Cook is a truly authentic Hawaii experience with breathtaking views of the ocean! Harry was such a wonderful host and was very thorough with the booking process, he definitely made everything very easy, fast & pleasant. Once we arrived in Kailua Kona, we hopped into our car rental and headed from Kona airport to Makalani Cottage with very detail directions provided to us by Harry. We pulled up into the driveway and down a hill into Harry's beautifully kept property. We right away noticed all the flora and fauna throughout and immediately had that WOW moment when we saw the two beach chairs overlooking the big, beautiful ocean! The cottage is very tastefully decorated, with beautiful furniture and all the amenities you need to make your stay the best you could ever ask for. Harry greeted us with a beautiful welcoming note and an Island bouquet which was such a nice gesture to walk into. The kitchen is fully equipped, and it had everything we needed to make tasty meals. It was so much fun exprimenting with The Big Islands amazing organic fruits and veggies locally grown by farmers on the Island. We created some culinary favorites, surrounded by nature and geckos all around. The cottage was my dream come true it almost felt like I was in a treehouse! We thoroughly felt renewed and refreshed with a good nights rest on the big beautiful bed that was insect proof! Please note don't forget your bug spray there are mosquitos in Hawaii and you will need some. My boyfriend and I also loved the outdoor shower overlooking the coffee trees growing on property, it was a pleasure taking a hot bath in nature. Last but not least Harry ace'd it with the meditation room which has a swing overlooking the ocean and an extra little bed! The whole experience was a truly unique experience that steers you away from the tourist areas where you can truly get a feel of the real Hawaii. Harry suggested we go to the Punalu'u bakery which had amazing Malasadas, he also gave us endless suggestions on beaches and sites that were truly amazing. The cottage is well appointed and the drive to the Volcanos National Park & Hilo was very pleasant since you really don't feel the time because your intaking picturesque views. Thank you Harry for such a wonderful experience and for being an amazing host! We will be back soon to enjoy your piece of heaven again! It was such a pleasure to meet somebody from AII :) !!!!see more

Beautiful

My wife and I stayed here with our 2 children (18 and 10) and had a wonderful time. The accommodation was excellent and we all loved the outdoor shower. The outdoor kitchen is great; we never actually used the inside kitchen. The 2 hosts: Janice and Rusty, are lovely people and cannot do enough to help out with anything. The water temp and clarity is amazing with 30m visibility most days. We snorkelled and kayaked with dolphins and got pretty close to humpback whales, which we saw everyday. If you go to the Big Island and want to spend your time with 3000 people beside you (did that in Waikiki), by all means go to the Hilton Waikoloa, a couple of hours nth of here. If you want to spend your time with a lot less people and enjoy a beautiful part of the world, stay here, you won't be sorry. Thanks Janice and Rusty.see more

It felt like home

This is a very well appointed apartment, which made it feel like home. Met with flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit from the farm. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai with views out to the distant water. The evenings brought the farm alive with sounds of the coqui frogs and geckos. Todd gave us a farm tour, we learned much from him and his daughter! We made good use of the boogie boards, beach chairs and snorkel gear, much appreciated! The only downside is it is difficult to find after dark, if arriving then. Also be aware that Captain Cook area is a bit far removed from everything. We did a lot of driving, but felt it was worth it to come back to this sweet place every night.see more

Paradise Found

This was a perfect space for a relaxing vacation. I stayed for six nights, and could have stayed longer. Five to ten minute drive to three of the best beaches south of Kona. The space is charming, cozy and comfortable. The bedroom/living room has screens for walls, so it's like sleeping outside and camping, but in a comfy bed and a view of the ocean. The outdoor shower has a great view of sunsets, and the hot tub makes for a relaxing nightcap. Full kitchen facilities and snorkel and beach equipment available too. Kathy took me on a swim with the dolphins, which was wonderful, and she and groundskeeper Ivy were very responsive to questions.see more
