Captain Cook apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Kilino Farm” Stayed in upper level of house. Great view up there. Lower level was rented at the time. House very well equipped. Better than expected. Four of us stayed there quite comfortably. Really met our needs. Hosts/owners were great. Family dog was a great bonus. Very close to snorkelling areas which was what we wanted mostly.

Look No Further - HALE NAI`A Kealakekua Bay

Captain Cook cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Absolutely Awesome!!!” Words cannot describe how much we loved our stay! From the lovely ocean view, the sound of the waves, the well stocked supplies (everything you could think of),the friendly and helpful hosts, the gorgeous weather, to the relaxation and rejuvenation we enjoyed, this place is wonderful. The only negative thing we could think of was that there was no way to slow down the time so we could enjoy it longer! We explored most of the Big Island, but this was one of our favorite spots. We celebrated our 10th anniversary here and would love to come back and revisit some of the many beautiful places we discovered. We spent many hours watching and listening to the waves, watching for and seeing whales, and experiencing the ocean. Another highlight was kayaking across the bay with many, many dolphins swimming all around us! If you have a chance, I highly recommend booking this place!

“The best...” Thank you to the owners for supplying us with everything we could possibly require for a beach vacation. Your attention to detail is exceptional. The use of the beach towels to the usage of snorkel and surf gear made the difference. Just meant one less thing for us to worry about. Your home is the cleanest ... Hats off to your wonderful cleaners. This is certainly Kona Paradise.. In comparison to the other islands we found the local people the kindest right here, the culture and authenticity to be real, and the natural habitat fascinating. We will be back. Thank you again for the the phenomenal hospitality...

Charming Tropical Hideaway, Pool, Hot Tub, Snorkel

Captain Cook apartment

/ 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“We wanna go back!” The name, Tropical Hideway, is perfect. If you want fancy, go elsewhere. The cabin has all the basics plus Kathleen Carr's fabulous photos on the wall. The gardens complete with delicious fruit are wonderful. Quiet, peaceful. We would get up, get the morning's fruit, eat a fun breakfast (we would be joined by a little gecko that liked the honey in my tea apparently), then off to snorkel a few miles away - how much better does it get? then back to the cabin, shower in the great outdoor shower, then into the hot tub. Rest awhile, to go lunch at some of the wonderful nearby cafes, then maybe to the farmer's market. You get the drift - life is hard eh? This was absolutely a perfect place for us - back as soon as possible for us!

Romantic S Kona Cottage wth Incredible Oceanview

Captain Cook cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Breathtaking Oceanviews from Makalani Cottage!” "Breathtaking Oceanviews from Makalani Cottage!” Makalani Cottage in Captain Cook is a truly authentic Hawaii experience with breathtaking views of the ocean! Harry was such a wonderful host and was very thorough with the booking process, he definitely made everything very easy, fast & pleasant. Once we arrived in Kailua Kona, we hopped into our car rental and headed from Kona airport to Makalani Cottage with very detail directions provided to us by Harry. We pulled up into the driveway and down a hill into Harry's beautifully kept property. We right away noticed all the flora and fauna throughout and immediately had that WOW moment when we saw the two beach chairs overlooking the big, beautiful ocean! The cottage is very tastefully decorated, with beautiful furniture and all the amenities you need to make your stay the best you could ever ask for. Harry greeted us with a beautiful welcoming note and an Island bouquet which was such a nice gesture to walk into. The kitchen is fully equipped, and it had everything we needed to make tasty meals. It was so much fun exprimenting with The Big Islands amazing organic fruits and veggies locally grown by farmers on the Island. We created some culinary favorites, surrounded by nature and geckos all around. The cottage was my dream come true it almost felt like I was in a treehouse! We thoroughly felt renewed and refreshed with a good nights rest on the big beautiful bed that was insect proof! Please note don't forget your bug spray there are mosquitos in Hawaii and you will need some. My boyfriend and I also loved the outdoor shower overlooking the coffee trees growing on property, it was a pleasure taking a hot bath in nature. Last but not least Harry ace'd it with the meditation room which has a swing overlooking the ocean and an extra little bed! The whole experience was a truly unique experience that steers you away from the tourist areas where you can truly get a feel of the real Hawaii. Harry suggested we go to the Punalu'u bakery which had amazing Malasadas, he also gave us endless suggestions on beaches and sites that were truly amazing. The cottage is well appointed and the drive to the Volcanos National Park & Hilo was very pleasant since you really don't feel the time because your intaking picturesque views. Thank you Harry for such a wonderful experience and for being an amazing host! We will be back soon to enjoy your piece of heaven again! It was such a pleasure to meet somebody from AII :) !!!!

Sugar Shacks Hawaii

Captain Cook cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“feel right at home!” this wonderful little house does really not deserve being called just a "shack"! it is a completely modernized accommodation, very clean, very cosy and beautifully and tastefully furnished. all household ware is of high quality and no cheapo stuff. big flatscreen in the living room and a beautiful bathroom. there is even a dishwasher! we also loved the dining porch and sitting outside in front of the house. delicious papayas, mac nuts and avocados are just nearby in the garden. and once you tried kelly and kim's self-grown coffee, you will never want to drink any other coffee anymore! conveniently located just next to the highway (not noisy at all!), all sights, snorkel spots and nearby places can be reached fast and easily. kona is just 25 mins away. kelly and kim have been wonderful hosts and very responsive in person or via email with everything we needed. don't waste your time looking for any other place - go for the shack and you will definitely enjoy your stay in this wonderful little paradise!

Carson's Mountain Cabin with hot tub and fireplace!

Kailua-Kona cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“A Trip of a Lifetime!!!” Our first time to the Big Island and this Cabin defintely helped to make it a trip of a life time! The cabin was wonderfully decorated. It was very clean, plenty of room and defintely put a nice warm feel in place of a bland typical hotel room. The property is very secluded and surrounded by beautiful plants and trees. The pictures that are shown here are exactly what you will find and more. The location is perfect and only a short drive from beaches and airport. Caroline and Scott are wonderful people who put their love and personality into into cabin. This isnt just a "rental" property for them. They are very warm and friendly. The beach chairs were fantastic! We got engaged our last night in Kona. We know exactly where to come for an anniversary trip!!! This place is an incredible value and an absolute must stay!! Thanks again,

“Perfect little hide away” Janet was super accommodating during our stay. The access to bikes, snorkel gear and an outdoor hose off was great! We rented scooters and found the location to be perfect for both the White Sands Beach and the snorkeling beach. Would definitely stay here again! Thanks for letting us have a late check out too! Saved us the hassle of sweating in the heat waiting for our shuttle!

Kona Beach Rental 4* Bdrm, 4 Bath, Private Pool

Kailua-Kona house

6 bedrooms / 5 bathrooms / sleeps 12

“great first impression” Had a wonderful Hawaiian stay. This great tropical vacation home is spacious and clean. It was so nice to have a kitchen supplied with all you need to cook; pots, pans, utensils and basic seasonings were all stocked in the kitchen. We just stopped at the local market for food, snacks, and drinks and we were all set for a fun filled week! The home is located in a great area that made it fast and easy to get to the local beaches for our snorkel trips. (all snorkel gear and beach towels are available at the home). We seen so many beautiful fish and turtles no matter where we chose to snorkel. Highly recommend snorkeling to anyone visiting Kona! We used the refreshing waterfall pool at the home almost each evening before dinner and watched several amazing Kona sunsets from the cozy upstairs Lanai. Our week stay in Kona was an amazing experience. From our time we spent relaxing at the house, beach or poolside. To our adventures of exploring the beautiful waterfalls in and around Hilo, walking the lava tubes at the Kilauea Volcano, shopping and tasting local foods and fruits and we will never forget our deep sea fishing adventure with Kenny from Makana Lani Charters. We look forward to our next stay and making many more new memories here! A huge Thanks to Mike and Laura for being wonderful homeowners of this great vacation rental and being quick and helpful in answering any of our questions before and during our stay! We highly recommend this vacation home to anyone looking for a beautiful home to rent during their Big Island stay!

“Beautiful Paradise” This immaculate well maintained condo came equipped with everything needed to snorkel, body board, picnic or just rest by the ocean. The view from the balcony was breathtaking. The condo grounds, pool area, hot tub and barbecue were very well maintained. The office staff, Kitty , welcomed us when we checked in and represented the condo owners with courtesy and kindness. The owners provided us with locations of stores to purchase groceries or whatever needed. Their personal touches on their condo made us feel like we were at home.

“Love the No Smoking, No Pets Rules” Condo is very relaxing and convenient. Since Keauhou Gardens is a No Smoking Resort, we did not have to put up with smoke drifting in from other condos or lanais and if we did Security would put a stop to it. Also, not having to listen to barking dogs is another huge plus. Combine this with a Quiet Pool just across the street, and you have complete bliss!

“sitting on the huge lanai on the ocean listening to the waves crash was wonderful” Kim of Keauhou Property Management impressed me the most. He answered my calls and questions promptly. When we left as did not need 2 bedroom and moved to another rental it was awful, Called Kim and he managed to find me a couple of rentals that covered our stay. He is my hero and highly recommend him and his company for their GREAT customer service. The property was great too, nice amenities and prefer this area now verses up the road closer to the hustle bustle but close enough to go.

“Relaxing!” This is a great location, close to town and the grocery store. The complex is very well maintained and has heated pools which make a big difference. We enjoyed the golf course view and it was extremely quiet at night. The unit is clean, spacious, tastefully decorated, comfortable, and has all the extras including a blender for margaritas! Plenty of beach gear to borrow and some sand toys too. Owners are responsive and helpful. We've stayed in Kona before at a different condo, but when we return we'll come back to Kanaloa.

The washer and dryer means not having to bring home dirty clothes (yea!). The condo is close to everything. There are great places to eat, some within walking distances. “Execellent and affordable place to stay in Kona.” We have stayed here five times in past seven years. It is definitely our favorite place to stay in Kona. We have visited every Hawaiian island except Lanai. The Big Island is our favorite and the Kona Makai is a wonderful, beautiful, quite and relaxing place to stay. Grills are located on the ocean front. Excellent sunsets with the occasional "green flash." Walk to town, restaurants, church, numerous beaches and stores. We highly recommend it to family and friends.

Seaside Zen Cottage on the Beach in Kailua Kona

Kailua-Kona house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Great for family vacation. Awesome setting.” I was worried about this Beach House before renting but we would up loving it. The reviews seemed to range. There are some comments that the beach in front of house is small, yes the beach is small but it is also quite perfect for snorkeling, looking at or a quick dip. It was great sleeping to the sound of the ocean, the view is so nice you don't want to stop looking at it. One important note which it is hard to discover unless you stay here. The beach in front of the house is NOT your personal private beach, Visitors mostly locals and other renters visit the beach pretty much every day via a public walkway. There is a short wall separating you from the beach which is nice. It was never crowded it just has probably at most I have seen 10 people. The only issue with this is that it feels like your beach, but people keep coming to it. I got over this after the first day. The mornings and evenings the beach was usually empty and all to ourselves. The turtles come near you non stop at this beach which is really cool. The House upstairs is basically one giant room with 2 bathrooms, the rooms separate via closable walls which was convenient for us and well designed. The downstairs has a living area, kitchen and another bathroom. For our family this house was perfect. Something to note: There were lizards and occasional insects which appeared to be some kind of roach, however this did not bother us as a tropical hawaiian roach is not nearly as bad as a NYC roach. The furnishings of the house are in good shape, there are no frills in this house it is basically an older beach cottage. The house had beach gear and snorkeling gear available which was great. If you rent it, we left one of our little girls life jackets so you may see that there LOL. The place was clean with clean linens and towels. There is a property manager who lives on the grounds. She was very helpful. I would stay here again and would also recommend this house. I attached 3 pics. One is of the beach, There is sand you just can't see from the shot, two is from one of the rocks outside - house is on right, and 3 is of the sunset. Side note if you don't know anything about big island: Kona is where you want to be on the Big Island if you like nice weather. I did not realize there are basically two sides to stay. Kona side and Hilo Side. Luckily this is on Kona side. Hilo has a bunch of stuff to do and hikes, waterfalls, museums etc, also closer to volcanos but its the "rainy" side. I would rather be on the sunny side and travel to the other side.

Plantation Manager's Beach House - Kailua Kona

Kailua-Kona house

“Kinda Beach House” The house was well supplied for our group of eight. Everyone enjoyed the yard and access to the ocean. The turtles were a special hit. We appreciated the spacious lanai. Great sunset views. Neighborhood and road were busy, but not intrusively so. The downstairs bathroom off the kitchen could use a better privacy curtain.

My wife and I stayed here with our 2 children (18 and 10) and had a wonderful time. The accommodation was excellent and we all loved the outdoor shower. The outdoor kitchen is great; we never actually used the inside kitchen. The 2 hosts: Janice and Rusty, are lovely people and cannot do enough to help out with anything. The water temp and clarity is amazing with 30m visibility most days. We snorkelled and kayaked with dolphins and got pretty close to humpback whales, which we saw everyday. If you go to the Big Island and want to spend your time with 3000 people beside you (did that in Waikiki), by all means go to the Hilton Waikoloa, a couple of hours nth of here. If you want to spend your time with a lot less people and enjoy a beautiful part of the world, stay here, you won't be sorry. Thanks Janice and Rusty.see more

It felt like home

This is a very well appointed apartment, which made it feel like home. Met with flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit from the farm. We enjoyed breakfast on the lanai with views out to the distant water. The evenings brought the farm alive with sounds of the coqui frogs and geckos. Todd gave us a farm tour, we learned much from him and his daughter! We made good use of the boogie boards, beach chairs and snorkel gear, much appreciated! The only downside is it is difficult to find after dark, if arriving then. Also be aware that Captain Cook area is a bit far removed from everything. We did a lot of driving, but felt it was worth it to come back to this sweet place every night.see more

Paradise Found

This was a perfect space for a relaxing vacation. I stayed for six nights, and could have stayed longer. Five to ten minute drive to three of the best beaches south of Kona. The space is charming, cozy and comfortable. The bedroom/living room has screens for walls, so it's like sleeping outside and camping, but in a comfy bed and a view of the ocean. The outdoor shower has a great view of sunsets, and the hot tub makes for a relaxing nightcap. Full kitchen facilities and snorkel and beach equipment available too. Kathy took me on a swim with the dolphins, which was wonderful, and she and groundskeeper Ivy were very responsive to questions.see more
