Look No Further - HALE NAI`A Kealakekua Bay

Captain Cook cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Whaaa!!!” That's because we had to leave. Yes the day came that we had to depart. But while we were there it was one of the most relaxing, invigorating and peaceful vacations that we've had in years. The property was impeccably kept and although Janice and Rusty(hosts) were virtually invisible they were always nearby if we needed help finding something or just for a friendly chat(they are a lovely couple). I would recommend Hale Nai'a to anyone wanting a relaxing secluded vacation yet not too far from reality...ie golf,snorkel/diving(amazing) the night life, entertainment, sightseeing or what ever it may be that you would be interested in doing...my personal favorite relaxation exercise was sitting on the lanai watching for(and seeing many) dolphins and humpbacks going by. One last thing, the climate was amazing at this location, often we would look up to the top of the hill and see weather happening, yet we were always spared down at the cove. In closing, if The Big Island is your destination in Hawaii, this spot should be on the top of your list of choices.

Private apartment at Killino Kona Coffee Farm SPECIAL RATE $500/week for couple

Captain Cook apartment

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“True Hawaiian relaxation. We got away from it all Hawaiian style” After several visits to Hawaii and staying in the commercial resorts, we wanted to experience true aloha and see what life was like vacationing in coffee country. My wife and I discovered the Killino farm. It is tucked away in a secluded area, so peaceful and serene. The coffee and fresh fruits were excellent and the room was relaxing. The host family were like long lost friends, making us feel at home right away. We we able to get in the ocean everyday while also making day trips to discover other parts of the island. The small town feel really was a great break from life back home on the east coast. We enjoyed our stay so much that we intend to return again and will send our friends here. The only thing we'd want to change, was the length of our stay. We could easily stay for a month. This is just a wonderful place.

Secluded Tropical Honemoon Hideaway at South Kona Coffee..

Captain Cook log cabin

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Nice Hideaway south of Captain Cook” This was our 1st stay at the SKC plantation in one of the short-term rental cabins near the highway. Cabin (or upscale cabana structure) was clean and comfortable. Our king-sized bed felt great at the end of the day. The room had large screened windows on one side with rattan shades that you could lower at night. Entry door is a sliding door which we kept closed so mosquitoes didn't wander in. On the wall to the left of the door was a small refrigerator, and shelving above with a microwave, coffee maker & French press. *Excellent* fruit (mangoes, apple bananas, papaya) was provided on a plate when we arrived in the room, plus a welcome sign! The bathroom next door was very roomy, clean and had fancy ceramic tiling all over walls/floor. Macadamia nuts (excellent) and a nutcracker was on the railing outside. The outdoor kitchen was clean, easy to use, and well-stocked with everything we needed, and we used it almost every night, grilling swordfish that we picked up at a local market. Brad was careful to place long-burn mosquito coils around the buildings and walkways day and night, so we had very little problems with the insects. He was also friendly and generous with information and advice about the area, especially local beaches and markets. He brought additional fruit to us when asked. We never met Linda, but then we were out and about most of the time. We'd return again, but probably for the long-term rentals since those buildings have much more of a view of the horizon and sky (the short-term rentals were down in the surrounding foliage with little view; I'm an amateur astronomer, so prefer the open-sky). We enjoyed watching all of the geckoes on the railing and near the kitchen. Property is very steep down from the short-term rentals, so we only explored the grounds one time. The only issue we had with the rental was the lack of hot water for showers or cleaning up in the kitchen (boiled water on the stove to help with cleanup). We sometimes had hot water for a few seconds, and then it turned cold again. Left Brad a note to check on that. On the nearby beaches, especially for snorkling at Ho'okena and Two Step (near the Place of Refuge): get there early in the morning (best before 8:00am) before it gets crowded and limited parking space disappears. Ho'okena has very warm outdoor showers on one side of the parking lot for rinse-off.

Beth's Hawaiian Hideaway Paniolo ste

Captain Cook apartment

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Don't look anywhere else - you've found paradise” This has to be one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed on vacation and the location is perfect for day trips to the volcanoes, kona and I even went up north for a day for the 5 hr horse trek in Waipi'o valley. The best snorkelling on the Island is just down the road at two step and captain cook monument not to mention all the Dolphins you get to swim with every day. With all the water toys on hand kayak or SUP over to captain cook monument - it's an experience you'll not forget. The accomodation is like an Eco resort with all the mod cons and did I mention beautifully presented. The pictures do not do the rooms justice at all. Arrive to locally grown fruit and the kitchens have the basic oils and spices for cooking meals and sitting on the lanai or by the pool. Can't wait to return again. Thank you David and Beth for being such stunning hosts - the best holiday ever!!

“The best...” Thank you to the owners for supplying us with everything we could possibly require for a beach vacation. Your attention to detail is exceptional. The use of the beach towels to the usage of snorkel and surf gear made the difference. Just meant one less thing for us to worry about. Your home is the cleanest ... Hats off to your wonderful cleaners. This is certainly Kona Paradise.. In comparison to the other islands we found the local people the kindest right here, the culture and authenticity to be real, and the natural habitat fascinating. We will be back. Thank you again for the the phenomenal hospitality...

Captain Cook house

“Exceptional Experience” I enjoyed our stay at Rhonda's home. Everything was perfect. Our room was extremely comfortable and the view from the living room and lanai's are amazing. We started our day with a yummy breakfast(really enjoyed the french toast rollups with homemade pineapple jam) and ended our day having a cocktail by the pool. Rhonda also provided detailed instructions on how to get to the best snorkeling locations. We could not have planned a better trip. Thanks for everything

Sugar Shacks Hawaii

Captain Cook cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“feel right at home!” this wonderful little house does really not deserve being called just a "shack"! it is a completely modernized accommodation, very clean, very cosy and beautifully and tastefully furnished. all household ware is of high quality and no cheapo stuff. big flatscreen in the living room and a beautiful bathroom. there is even a dishwasher! we also loved the dining porch and sitting outside in front of the house. delicious papayas, mac nuts and avocados are just nearby in the garden. and once you tried kelly and kim's self-grown coffee, you will never want to drink any other coffee anymore! conveniently located just next to the highway (not noisy at all!), all sights, snorkel spots and nearby places can be reached fast and easily. kona is just 25 mins away. kelly and kim have been wonderful hosts and very responsive in person or via email with everything we needed. don't waste your time looking for any other place - go for the shack and you will definitely enjoy your stay in this wonderful little paradise!

Captain Cook house

“Our Honeymoon!” My husband and I are stationed in Oahu and as a wedding gift our family gave us a four day/three night stay at the aloha Bed and Breakfast on the Big Island. We were thrilled to take a little adventure and get some much needed R&R; (especially for the hubby!) and we received that and more! We had such a great time! The house was perfect! It was so refreshing to be somewhere that was all open with glorious breezes, views, but at the same time had the comfort and cleanliness of a nice hotel. Angela was such a fabulous hostess and we felt completely comfortable in her hands. Her breakfasts were delicious and a great start to the day! Her advice was spot-on and we don't know what we would have done without it! My one wish is that we could have stayed longer! Altogether beautiful place, breathtaking views and awesome people. We definitely give it two thumbs up!

Charming Tropical Hideaway, Pool, Hot Tub, Snorkel

Captain Cook apartment

/ 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“We wanna go back!” The name, Tropical Hideway, is perfect. If you want fancy, go elsewhere. The cabin has all the basics plus Kathleen Carr's fabulous photos on the wall. The gardens complete with delicious fruit are wonderful. Quiet, peaceful. We would get up, get the morning's fruit, eat a fun breakfast (we would be joined by a little gecko that liked the honey in my tea apparently), then off to snorkel a few miles away - how much better does it get? then back to the cabin, shower in the great outdoor shower, then into the hot tub. Rest awhile, to go lunch at some of the wonderful nearby cafes, then maybe to the farmer's market. You get the drift - life is hard eh? This was absolutely a perfect place for us - back as soon as possible for us!
