Waikoloa apartment

“First Timer to Big Island” Excellent property with everything that one would need including beach gear! Great response from management staff Very clean modern unit. Only minor problem was previous renter had broken master bedroom door handle so we couldn't close door properly but staff had it on order. Also needed to get more laundry detergent and a new battery for a fan remote but Alesia was great about it and got it by the next day for us. Great location next to shopping. Will be looking for this unit next time we visit Hawaii

“Mauna Lani perfection!” We've stayed in a number of units at the Golf Villas and G2 is now our absolute favorite. There are so many great extras for a family with children (paddle boards, bikes, beach toys, pack 'n' play, high chair, etc ...), plus a spectacular sunset view. We will be back!

Waikoloa apartment

“A real home away from home” The condo has been equipped with anything one needs for a pleasant stay. I would unequivocally stay there again. August is hot but the trade winds and the fans were great. The owners are ready to help if you have any questions. Steps from the pool. Lots of birds, big and small, big turkeys to itsy bitsy birds. The Plumeria tree offers a delightful smell on the lanai. It was just as advertised...Thank you for all the great details, Nancy

Kolea "ALWAYS-ON-MY-MIIIND" DIRECT BEACH ACCESS - Beach gear Best value

Waikoloa apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“Amazing!!!” We just returned to California after a week at Kolea 16f. The condo is beautiful and is just like the pictures. There was plenty of everything - towels, beach towels, beach chairs, etc. Being on the 3rd floor, the elevator was really handy. The location is amazing - a short walk to a-Bay, the Kings Shops, Marriott and Hilton. The owner Paulette and her parents were super nice and so accommodating(a big plus is that her parents live on the island - only a short distance away from the condo). Originally there were 3 of us and at the last minute it turned into 4. The big beds were super comfortable. Having a washer and dryer was super convenient. We used the Viking bar-b-que twice - very nice. My only recommendation would be a new mattress on the pull-out sleeper sofa. I would highly recommend this place! We had a great time!

“Best Vacation Condo Ever!” This was the most well-equipped, clean, bright & shiny vacation condo we've stayed in. Excellent location near pool, beach, and activities. Condo had new snorkel gear, boogie boards, sand toys, tennis equipment - all fresh and new. Kitchen was fully stocked with all the tools we needed to make Thanksgiving dinner. Comfy beds, fresh clean linens. We enjoyed the Ocean Club daily. Plenty of nearby activities - beach, volcano, kayaking/snorkeling, fishing. Our family of four (including 5 and 7 year old boys) had a blast!

Work & Play *Kohala Lodge* Exceeded our Expectations! Quality Living..

Kohala Coast house

1 bedroom / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 2

“Absolument Magnifique!” Visited from the South of France in January 2013 and just loved it! These buccolic and splendid homestead, far enough from the heat and crowds of Kona, is set in the middle of rolling pastures, with a splendid view of the ocean! The cabin is rustic, yet refined and extremely comfortable! Chris and Carol have a wonderful eye for details and a great sense of aesthetics. The house is located near the charming and laid back town of Hawi which, by the way, has a gorgeous banyan tree, and a lovely farmers market under it, where Chris and his band play bluegrass music! It doesn't get any better...This is truly paradise!!!

“Fantastic vacation!” Kolea 11A far exceeded my expectations. The condo is huge and very well decorated and equipped. I went running every morning and managed to see most of the other complexes in Waikoloa. Kolea by far has the best location. I wouldn't consider any of the others. Our boys especially enjoyed the infinity pool where we played many games of dunk 'em. We also enjoyed the glass bottom boat cruise, snorkeling in the bay, and learning to stand up paddle.

A201 VISTA WAIKOLOA DELUXE - OCEAN VIEW-2 BDR

Waikoloa apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Feels like home--but warm and sunny!” We traveled with family and were happy to be able to rent two units next door to each other (A201 & A202). We really loved the condos--the colors, furniture, and artwork really gave the units an island feel. The spacious units with cozy furnishings, comfortable beds, beach gear, well-stocked kitchen, and convenient location made our stay especially relaxing--just 10-15 min walk to shops, marketplace, and a-Bay beach. We cooked quite a bit, so the availability of olive oil, vinegars of all flavors, butter, spices, and other kitchen condiments and accoutrement's were especially appreciated. You even have the choice of brewed coffee or espresso! To save money and get more selection, rather than do most of our shopping at the Queen's marketplace, we stocked up at Costco in Kona and Foodland in Waimea. We contributed to the pantry and fridge by leaving goodies for the next visitors (just as the previous visitors had done). The 2nd floor was nice because we could keep the windows open to let the breeze through rather than use the air-conditioning. With the windows open, we were all up at 6am to the sound of squawking birds and noisy buses and trucks. Since we wanted to go running before it got too hot, the sound of birds in the morning was better than the buzzer of an alarm clock. Although we were surprised by the road noise (it was definitely enough to wake us up when the windows were open), it wasn't enough to discourage us from staying here. The other choice would be to stay on the golf course side of the building that doesn't have the sunset view and can get really windy). A202 is a bit larger (3 bathrooms) than a201, but both units had their own charm. 201 has brighter bedrooms and a bigger master bedroom, but 202 has a bigger patio table that easily seated 8 and a brighter kitchen. Last, but not least--Sylvia was a wonderful host!

Oceanfrt 2br Condo-Halii Kai 14C-50% OFF MARCH 6 TO 13TH

Waikoloa apartment

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 5

“Fabulous family vacation at Halii Kai 14C !” Our family just got back from our 4th stay at Halii Kai but our first time at 14C. We were very pleased with our accomodations. It is a perfect unit for up to 5 people. My wife and I were there with our three boys (ages 13,12,&10). Building 14 is one of the three oceanfront properties and the view is amazing. The unit was nicely decorated and had top of the line appliances and tv's. Also, the unit was equipped with all of the amenities for your outdoor activities: beach towels and beach chairs, snorkel gear, boogie boards, tennis racquets and balls, basketball, etc. The beautiful kitchen was well equipped with cookware, coffee, spices and everything that you might need. There is really nothing that you need to bring other than the food. The lanai was a great place to sit in the morning or afternoon and watch for whales. The lanai also has a refrigerator and small gas grill (which we did not use). Peggy, the owner of the unit, was also extremely easy to work with. A week before our stay, she emailed instructions for our stay with all of the passcodes and operational tips for the unit. She followed up during our stay to make sure everything was ok which it was. We have stayed at numerous Vrbo properties in the past and I would say that Peggy ranks at the the top of condo owners that we have worked with. The Halii Kai development is a wonderful place to stay on the Big Island. The view from the pool is second to none. I would totally recommend 14C for your next stay at Halii Kai. You will not be disappointed.

“Renewal of vows” We rented this property for ourselves and our family members to celebrate our 10 years of marriage. The property was located very close to all shopping and other major hotels where our guests were staying. We had a problem with the air conditioner but upon calling their office it was fixed within 24 hours. The hot tub on the property was HOT and the pool was nice and cool. I would stay here again.

About Kohala Coast

For a quiet Hawaiian retreat, the Kohala Coast is the perfect spot.

With pristine beaches, expert golf courses and a touch of traditional Hawaiian culture, you’ll just love this vacation destination.

Start planning your trip by booking you Kohala Coast vacation rental with FlipKey, today.

About Kohala Coast, Hawaii

The Kohala Coast lies on the northwest portion of Hawaii. Locals divide it into two portions – north and south – to keep things simple. Both are beautiful and offer their own activities.

This section of coastline is named after Kohala Mountain – the oldest volcanic mountain on the island – and has been home to the Hawaiian people for centuries.

You'll see elements of their traditions throughout your stay – find out as much as possible as it's a fascinating culture!

The Kohala Coast is a mix of the best beaches, golf courses and luxurious villas and homes.

And, better than that, there’s a whole load of ancient temples, deep valleys and picture-perfect waterfalls within easy reach. It's really no surprise that this is a popular destination for artists from around the world.

Standing on the coastline on a clear day, you should be able to see Maui. And, if you come in winter, you might even see a humpback whale cresting the waves.

What to do

If you come to the Kohala Coast, it's very likely that you've come for the glorious beaches.

There are plenty to choose from – some of our favorites are Hapuna Beach, 49 Black Sand Beach and Anaehoomalu. Though, all beaches here have something going for them.

There are lots of activities to try; go scuba diving or snorkeling in the clear waters, see if you're any good at stand-up paddle boarding, and kayak or canoe through the calm waters to see Hawaii from a different perspective.

If you want to swim with dolphins, head to Dolphin Quest. It's an experience you'll never forget.

Find out a little about traditional Hawaii. Go to Mo'okini Heiau – a living spiritual temple that was commissioned by King Kamehameha I (the first king of the unified Hawaiian Islands), who was born in north Kohala.

Ask residents about the traditions of the area – they'll be happy to tell you about it.

Go to the Bond Historic District to find out a little about the homesteading period in Hawaii. The 19th century mission still stands today as a reminder of these events.

Top Kohala Coast, Hawaii travel tips

You don't need a car here, you can walk or grab a taxi. This is the best way to travel as you get to see everything Hawaii has to offer.

While you're here, try the unusual foods and sample as much of the local culture as possible. Then spend the rest of the time relaxing on the beach.

Enjoy a peaceful beach getaway entwined with traditional Hawaiian culture, and have a trip you'll never forget.

Book your Kohala Coast vacation rental on FlipKey to make sure you get the best spot.

Peaceful, inviting, tropical paradise

We live on the other side of the island and wanted a little get away with my mother in law visiting from the Mainland and my 1 year old. We really scored in finding this little gem. It's a really wonderful location. This street has some gorgeous, quiet little beaches within walking distance. And one of our favorite beaches- Hapuna is a very short drive. If we weren't lazy with the one year old, we could easily bike over. The inn has a very warm feel to it. It is beautifully decorated and the beds were incredibly comfortable and luxurious. The owners were so kind and friendly especially to my little boy. It was actually really nice to see other guests and the owner in the morning at the community kitchen where we had some really tasty local coffee. We are Hawaiian coffee addicts... no crappy keurig cups or hotel coffee. You could get a fresh latte or french press or cold brew. Yum! My mother in law loved it too. It was calm and peaceful at night. It really was one of my most enjoyable hotel/inn experiences ever. We really felt relaxed and refreshed after our stay.see more

Perfect Spot in Mauna Kea!

This location is perfect. Generally accessible to so many beach, pool and sight-seeing options it's hard to imagine anyone not enjoying a stay here. The units are updated with ideal views and the complex has its own community pool and rec. center that is nicer than just about anywhere we have ever stayed. We have spent the past decade staying in Hualalai but that will not be the case going forward. As soon as the Hapuna Prince is remodeled by Westin, it will only get better at this spot!see more

Nice!

This Condo was perfect for my Husband and I, The price was very good, location was perfect, close to Golf Club House, where there is food and a bar and close to grocery store and restaurants. My Mom lives in Kamuela which is close to Waikoloa and not far from Waimea only 20 min away. The only issue was the ceiling is a little noisy due to people walking upstairs, due to poor construction in the kitchen area above. Really close to Waikoloa Beach Resort a must visit and several beaches all around and so beautiful. We loved our stay!see more
