“Excellent "headquarter" for exploring Shenandoah” We stayed for a week and was very satisfied with both location and the room and its facilities. Their was always a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the landscape or read regardless of the weather - either on the lawn or on the porch. We were primarily interested in hiking in the surrounding mountains and visiting historic sites and for that it was a perfect "headquarter" for the week we stayed.

Elegant Jefferson-era Farmhouse - Charlottesville

Charlottesville house

“Great weekend!” We celebrated a girl's weekend in late March at Rosneath. We were completely impressed with the house. Not only is it charming, it is also has beautiful updates (I wish I could always cook in a kitchen like that). It really had everything we needed from enough sheets to appliances to space. It was also very clean. We enjoyed Dr. Ho's Humble Pie (right down the street) and went to a number of wineries. Pippin Hill was our favorite and it is very close to the house (maybe a 5 minute drive if that). Even though it rained most of the weekend, we still loved sitting out on the deck and enjoying the scenery. I had a lot of questions while I was planning the trip and received very helpful and quick responses from the owners. We loved the trip and hope to come back again soon. I would highly recommend the house for couples, girl's weekends, or family gatherings.

“Peaceful and Beautiful” My husband, 8 month old son, and I took our best friend for a weekend of relaxation before she left to go into some difficult and strenuous work for the summer. It was the perfect place for us all to go. The house was adorable and had everything we needed. The staff was incredibly friendly and we loved how their office was stocked with any kinds of snacks or games that we might need for our weekend. Our favorite part was the stream right behind the house. We all sat out there for many hours and enjoyed the peacefulness of the outdoors. The only thing we had a problem with was the directions for all the hiking trails. We come from an area where all the trails are neatly marked out at parks, here we had to drive around a lot and couldn't find any clear markers for the trials we were looking for. We had to stop and talk to SEVERAL locals before finally being able to find one of the trails. Of course once we found it, we greatly enjoyed it but it would have been nice to have some signs or maps that could have better pointed us in the right direction. Everyone in the area seemed very friendly and it was nice to be "away from it all" but also be close enough to go in town after a 15 minute drive. We had a pleasant time and will most likely be returning very soon.

Dream House by the Ocean

Virginia Beach house

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 9

“Perfect family getaway” This is our 2nd time vacationing in this home and despite quite a bit of rain, we had a great time. The home is fully equipped for all of our needs as well as an outdoor shed filled with beach umbrellas, chairs etc. We were close enough to the beach where we could feel confident and safe with our kids walking back to the house by themselves. Each bedroom has it's own TV which the kids LOVED - pleasantly the beds and pillows are as comfortable as home! Upon arrival the home was freshly cleaned and ready for our family! Tanya also has the house stocked with movies and games in case you have rainy days. There is plenty of shopping/dining/and activities within minutes of driving - this was our 20th wedding anniversary and we had a great dining experience at Salacia - an upscale steak and seafood restaurant and the kids loved Rudees Rocket where we saw dolphins up and personal. In the past we also visited the Virginia Aquarium - again only a coupe minutes away - well worth the visit. We'll definitely look forward to another summer where we can visit again - we'd definitely select this home again! Thank you!

About Virginia

Virginia is one of those rare places where past meets present and north meets south in a blossoming fury of contradictions and beauty. Seeped in history, Virginia is packed with reminders of America's past like Thomas Jefferson's regal home at Monticello and the Shirley Plantation.

The Virginia of today is a lovely, Southern belle with a warm climate year round, delicious southern cooking and unparalleled hospitality. With so many beautiful cities such as Richmond and numerous towns along the Atlantic shores, it is no wonder Virginia is for lovers.

Some of the places you will fall in love with include:

  • Williamsburg: This town is a historian's treasure. With war reenactments, museums and gardens, it gives you a glimpse of a time when the U.S. was gaining its independence.
  • Richmond: As the state capital and one of the oldest cities in the U.S., Richmond offers a variety of attractions. From the historic downtown to Belle Island in the James River, the city has a buzzing nightlife and plenty of culture for all to enjoy.
  • Arlington: Visiting this city is a must when headed to Virginia. It contains some of the U.S.'s most important monuments including Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon and the Iwo Jima Marine Corps War Memorial. The city also offers plenty of dining, cultural, entertainment and shopping opportunities.
  • Alexandria: This quaint town is a great place to check out historical sites, enjoy recreational activities and indulge in excellent dining and shopping options. Alexandria is also home to the Torpedo Factory Art Center, a popular waterfront attraction.
  • Roanoke: Known as the "Star of the South," this charming city showcases scenic surroundings and views from Mill Mountain, where a neon star overlooking the landscape has been lit since 1949. Roanoke is also known for its cultural offerings and assorted outdoor recreational activities.
  • Virginia Beach: This town features a beachside boardwalk that beckons children to run around and enjoy the different sights and sounds. Adults can kick back too while indulging in some freshly caught seafood. If you head to Virginia Beach in September, be sure to check out the Neptune Festival. During this time, the North American Sand Sculpting Championship is determined and travelers can see the short-lived beauties carved from the sand.

Virginia is a very diverse state, so there is always something interesting for travelers to enjoy. To experience the great outdoors, camping in Virginia is the way to go. There are plenty of parks in Virginia to choose from, and Virginia national parks are some of the country's most celebrated. The beauty of these surroundings and all that the state has to offer definitely helps inspire romantic getaways in Virginia, which have been a big commercial success for the state.

Since waterfront areas are immensely popular, a beach vacation rental is always in high demand because a beach rental offers exquisite views that just cannot be beat. A beach condo in particular is a good choice for those who want modern amenities right by the seashore. For visitors who desire something more rustic, a cabin near the woods is a popular pick. No matter where you lay your head, the memories you will make in Virginia will be something you will not soon forget.

Ashley’s Abode-VA Creeper Trail vacation rental
Ashley’s Abode Whitetop stay

We enjoyed our relaxing getaway at Ashley’s Abode. It was very clean and met our needs for our trip. We had plenty of room and loved the peaceful setting. There was no cell service or wireless so we really got to disconnect. Maybe a few books, games, or puzzles would be a nice addition! Hope to go back and visit again!see more
Fit for a KING ( king size beds!)
Perfect Place for Families and/or Seniors

Everything was perfect. There were four seniors in our group with one having limited mobility. This house had 3 steps to the front door, a master bedroom (with king bed) and bath, and all other rooms on that floor. Absolutely easy for him to navigate. Downstairs another master bedroom (with king bed) and bath, pool table, additional bedroom with twin bed. Upstairs 2 more bedrooms, 1 with queen bed, 1 with twin beds and a loft area with a trundle bed. Beautiful kitchen with everything you could possibly need and then some. Wonderful wood burning fireplace and firewood stacked neatly at the door. Dawn, the property manager was EASY to work with and helpful. We will not hesitate to rent this property again and look forward to working with Dawn.see more

Wyndham Kingsgate Resort (3 bedroom 3 bath condo)
Thanksgiving weekend with family!

We stayed @ the Wyndham Kingsgate resort in Williamsburg Va. Food, fun and family is all I can say! The accommodations were great. My grandchildren loved the indoor pool and video gaming arcade. The least attractive of the stay was having to climb three flights of stairs with luggage and groceries. That was a surprise! However the staff was just a phone call away. They were available to help with a smile! We had a great time!see more
