Your home away from home, the Moon Room has been designed by one of Japan's best up-and-coming designers. Detailed, nuanced, elegant, the room is spacious enough to host a large family, perfect for relaxing between excursions to temples and gardens.

The Moon Room is as cozy a room as you're likely to find in the city. After a day of wandering Kyoto, there's nothing like coming back to a place resplendent in comfort and tranquility. Its unique layout designed by a local artist, The Moon Room is emblematic of a designer's renaissance, in which classic materials blend together beautifully with atmospheric imagination.

The Moon Room is in an old neighborhood noted for its evocative architecture. It is not uncommon to see women passing in colorful kimono and hear monks wandering the streets chanting their blessings. The subway, major bus lines, as well as convenience stores and two supermarkets, is less than five minutes' walk. Nijo Castle, The Imperial Park, the Manga Museum, Sanjo-Dori (the Downtown shopping district), and dozens of restaurants, cafes, and bars are within an easy five-to-ten ten minutes stroll (to which I can provide a detailed map with gourmet suggestions), and the beautiful Kamo River and Higashiyama (East Kyoto), with its many temples, is a quick twenty-minute bicycle ride away, or if you prefer, a scenic walk. Buses to go around the city are conveniently boarded just a few blocks away at the Imperial Palace and Nijo-Castle. While enjoying the space's tranquility, it's nearly as central as a visitor to Kyoto can be.

The Moon Room has a semi-double and single beds as well as a single-size sofa bed, and can therefore comfortably accommodate, couples, small families, and even traveling companions.

Tea and coffee are provided. And there is a stereo unit for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. In addition to high-speed wifi in the room, POCKET WIFI is also provided.

“Great apartment, in a lovely part of Kyoto.”

We really enjoyed the weekend we spent at the Moon Room. The apartment which was on the ground floor, was warm, with very comfortable beds, a small kitchen (idea for making tea and toast) and a great shower. The apartment is in a lovely part of Kyoto, very close to the subway in a quiet street with plenty of good restaurants to chose from, which Sean the owner had listed in a well prepared travel folder. If we ever return to Japan, staying at the Moon Room would be top of our list - but next time we will stay for a week. There is so much to see and do in Kyoto. Sean the owner was delightful and could not have been more accommodating. As he had no guests arriving on the day we were departing Sean told us we were under no pressure to check out at the agreed time. This gave us another morning of sightseeing in Kyoto before moving on to Tokyo in the afternoon. Our stay was a great experience. Thank you.
