Description

The Big Guesthouse is managed by Borneo Orchard House, a rustic holiday home at the edge of the jungle. The property is set on the hills of Tamparuli town, surrounded by secondary rainforest and durian orchard with scenic views overlooking the misty Kiulu valley. The journey from Kota Kinabalu International Airport takes around 1 hour, KK city is 40km away while Mt Kinabalu is just 53km East of Tamparuli. An ideal base to explore jungle adventures and river activities around the area, Borneo Orchard House offers rural experience in a comfortable setting.

The self-catering Big guesthouse is perfect for small group gathering, spacious living area upstairs and kitchen complete with cooking utensils, sauces and spreads. Guest facilities include outdoor shower/toilet, a natural spring water plunge pool, BBQ and basic dinner package available on request.

Borneo Orchard House is a working fruit orchard, mainly durian fruit and pineapples, guests staying in the lodge over harvest period get to sample naturally grown tropical fruits.

Getting around

The most convenient way to take in sights around the area is self-drive, there are tour packages available through local tour operators. Tamparuli town is situated at the foothill of Mt Kinabalu, the main road to East of Sabah goes through Tamparuli, hence there are many tour buses and local buses that pass through the town which goes both directions.

Interaction with guest

We are happy to help with information and chats, as we live on site an are always here. In saying that, the place is big enough for everyone’s privacy and we would like you to enjoy your own time when you choose to. On arriving we will show you around a bit and then you may (or may not wish) to see us until the next day. We provide you with our phone number if the need arises. Our guests are free to wander around our property except for our gated house area. There are paths around, and beautiful views down to Tamparuli and out to the South China Sea. The downstairs sleeping area is your private space, but we do prefer to access upstairs when you stay with us to provide dinner packages, board games, cleaning etc. Upstairs remain unlock.
