“Peaceful and Relaxing”

My family and I stayed at the Laguna Golf from Aug 19-Sept 2, 2012. We had a great time! We did not encounter any problems meeting Carmen (the person with the keys and the lease) when we arrived even though we were about an hour late. The unit was nice and clean, no bugs, which was very important to me. The master bedroom has a king size bed so that was a nice surprise since we were expecting a double/queen. Everything worked and functioned as it was designed. There were enough bed sheet and towels to keep us comfortable. The landscape was nice and quite, well kept. As it shows in the photos put up by the owner the pool is right outside the unit making it very convenient to cool off. Checking out was simple and straight forward Carmen was very professional and polite. The only downside to the location was that it was kinda far from everything. To get to the grocery store, beach you need a car or take a cab. The taxi drivers are very expensive in my opinion charging us 30US to go to a grocery store that is not that far of a drive. We went for a walk to check the area out and ended up walking about 25 mins with our kids to find a few tourist shops across from one of the hotels. The distance may not be too bad if adults or teens are making the trip but with 3 kids 6 and under in the heat it was a bit overwhelming. However, if you don’t mind hopping on the back of a motorcycle there are people that are always driving around wiling to pick you up and drop you to your destination for a much cheaper price. I think the taxis have a fixed rate whereas the motorcycle dudes are way more flexible and work independently. For example after paying the equivalent of 30US to go to the grocery store I went by myself the second time and paid 300RD about 7-8US and brought back 2 bags full of groceries. Another option is to order groecries, if you can speak spanish this is a fantastic way to get your food just like ordering a pizza. Can not comment on the night life as we did not go out but I did note that on the way in from the airport approaching the area we were in, there seemed to be some clubs and bars that were filled with people outside. Gym was not used but it looked nice from the outside. No water cooler but there is a 5 gallon water jug that can be refilled for abut 80RD. You can requst a replacement jug when you order your groceries that way you dnt have to carry the heavy container. Overall, our vacation was nice and relaxing!
