“Great cottage! Clean, updated, cair, laundry, outside shower. Hi” This is a wonderful a very comfortable cottage. Great for a family of up to 5. Very modern, hardwood floors, central air, laundry, storage space for bikes, fishing equipment, etc. Quick walk to a very quiet beach. The low tides are awesome! Surrounding cottages are very nice. The town of East Sandwich is very quiet. Great restaurants, ice cream, antiques, etc.

“Perfect Cape Vacation Experience” This was a waterfront property with marsh across the street, on a quiet private beach. The photos are very true to life, and the house was well equipped with pots and pans, cups, even bug spray. There were great views from the house, and it was truly relaxing to see and hear the waves from anywhere on the property. The rental company was excellent - key was ready for us, linens and chairs waiting on the porch when we arrived. Very close to 6a - grocery, restaurants, ice cream :) - but also remote location without any public traffic in the neighborhood. I could not have asked for a better house or location for our Cape vacation - we will be returning next year!

“Clean, good location, family friendly” We loved being so close to bay. Very family friendly. Very clean. Would come here again. Our only complaint is the "trundle bed" was not a true trundle with another twin bed under. It was drawers. Thank goodness we brought an extra air mattress!!

“Quintessential Cape Cod beach house - yes, the one in your dream” I stayed at this adorable beach house in august of 2011, my first time to beautiful Cape Cod. I could not have imagined it more perfectly; this little cottage is nestled right in the sand, bare foot steps on the beach. Its the perfect size for a couples retreat or a small family. You will feel worlds away from reality in this cozy and comfortable cottage. We enjoyed a fire on the beach, a stroll into East Sandwich for breakfast, many hours lounging in the sun and playing in the sand-bottomed surf. I still dream of this house, and it will always hold a special place in my traveling memories, for it was far too perfect for words. Thank you Jay and Gretchen for sharing your slice of heaven!

About Hyannis, Massachusetts

Hyannis is the largest of seven villages in Barnstable, and is at the center of Cape Cod. This means it's a thriving hub of activity – there's almost always something going on!

From here you can take the ferry to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and escape reality for a few days. But, before you do that, spend a day or two exploring this exciting village. There's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

For example, Hyannis has been home to the Kennedy family – yes, those Kennedys – for years. Throughout the village, there are statues and memorabilia celebrating their lives. See how many you can spot.

It's a natural harbor that has become a recreational boating port over the years. So, if you're a fan of sailing this is definitely the place for you.

Hyannis is also home to Kalmus Beach – a beautiful stretch of white sand that you should really check out during your stay.

What to do

Though the village is small, there's plenty to do.

Hire a boat and spend a few hours out on the water. Try to catch the sunset and enjoy looking out over the horizon.

If the water isn’t for you, take a stroll around Hyannis harbor. Look at the luxury boats and think about where to eat dinner – the seafood restaurants are always a good bet!

If you're a fan of shopping, you'll be spoiled rotten! On Main Street, the downtown area has a real throw-back charm. Cape Cod Mall – another great spot for bargain-hunters – is in the Route 132 Commercial District.

Both have a mix of independent and chain stores, so you'll be able to find everything you need, plus some special souvenirs.

During your stay, you should try to catch a Hyannis Harbor Hawks game (baseball), or a Cape Cod Sea Dogs football match – the atmosphere is electric!

Try to get a look at the world-famous Kennedy Compound, former home of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr and his family (including JFK). You can't go in, but go past and get a glimpse.

Find out more about the family by visiting the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum. It's filled with photographs, films and artifacts relating to the entire family.

Do you like a beer? Grab a Cape Cod Beer brewery tour and sample a few of their drinks. The IPA is the local favorite!
