6 of my friends and I spent the weekend as a get-a-way & absolutely enjoyed our stay! Our goal was to have a nice place to relax together and have fun together and this was the right place to do it! We ended up meeting the group staying in the cabin next to us and had a fun night all together enjoying our vacation. It was a perfect distance to rentals and the slopes and the cabin was prepared with everything we needed to cook and clean. (More hand towels could be useful for cleaning... We had to wash and dry the only two provided so that we could clean again... Only suggestion!!) I would (and already have) recommend anyone to use the cabins!! :)

We were quite surprised when we arrived at the condo. The condo was bigger than what we expected! The kitchen is fully loaded- you could even bak a cake if needed (: Everything was clean. A few cobwebs on certain windows (no spiders!) so it did not bother us a bit. Just a side note, I left a message upon check out to advice that one of the barstools felt loose so we decided not to use it to avoid any accident. The rocking chair in the master bedroom was dangerously loose. Glad I noticed before sitting down. So word of precaution is to double check furniture sturdiness other than that everything was quite pleasant. Pictures shown are exact representations of the condo. I loved the fact that the bathroom were equipped with toiletries. Kitchen had new dish soap, dish sponge, trash bags, paper towels, etc. We used the grill, fireplace, and heater-everything worked wonderfully! Water heater worked very well. One word of advice would be to request more blankets or carry your own because master bedroom was a bit chilly for my taste which is why I had to turn the heater. The downstairs bedroom had plenty of blankets but my children conquered them all LOL. I definitely recommend this condo. Quite cozy! The bad thing is that we were expecting some sort of lake view but the location of the condo calls for no views. That should be added on condos description. Fyi The lake is very close and pleasant for evening walks. Enjoy your future stay!

The house was huge. We had 3 big family with tons of kids. There were enough rooms to sleep and play. The heating was great. We never felt cold at all. Must come back.

We found the property dirty and in need of repair. The dirt was deep in the carpet and would transfer to your feet as if walking barefoot in public. The patio furniture was broken, cobwebs were abundant inside and out, inside furniture was soiled where you did not want to touch it. Half of the lights were not functioning. No view of the lake from the property. It was not a comfortable weekend. Read more

My friends and I stayed at Brown Bear's Den for my boyfriend's bday. I checked in after boarding and it was super simple and easy. The receptionist at the check in office was very nice and gave me great directions to our cabin. The cabin itself was very well put together, cleanm, and super adorable! The pictures online definitley did not do it justice! We had plenty of space and even though we got a little loud, no one ever complained about us. And, the outdoor patio bench broke after a friend sat on it but the staff completely understood that it was due to wear and tear since it had been snowing and I wasn't charged extra. Also, we went on a weekend where the time changed so we technically lost an hour of time there but after I called the office they were glad to let us stay an extra hour in the morning at no extra charge to me. Overall, we had a great experience here. The place was great and the staff was very nice and easy to deal with.

A pleasant stay I would say and I like the location. Not recommended for family with little kids as it is a townhouse type of property with stairs and no backyard. There were dirty towels on all bathroom floors when we arrived but they sent cleaning crew pretty fast with lots of fresh towels.

Brown Bear's Den was the perfect condo. Our favorite features were the grassy spacious lawn overlooking the private day dock...perfect for frisbee, reading on a blanket or just taking in the beauty of the surrounding nature. The hot tub and pool were rejuvenating and the condo itself was modern, clean, spacious, and the beds were so comfortable. The staff at Cool Cabins was helpful for all our questions and accommodated us as if we were at a 5 star hotel!

Although there were a few fix- up problems, the custodian came quickly & repaired what needed to be done. We were able to barbecue, cook what we wanted in the kitchen, swam in the pool, soaked in the jacuzzi and had enough room for 3 children and 5 adults. Also the condo was close to fishing at the lake and town. It was fun for all.

The cabin needs a lot of work. The stove was broken, the toilets were leaking, the owner removed the wifi service. This was our second stay in this cabin, and it was much worse than the first time. There are similar cabins in the complex that are 30% cheaper. Read more

Affordable Comfort in a Good Location

Staying in Big Bear over a holiday weekend has become almost prohibitively expensive. This condo rental allowed us to stay just 2 nights (not required 3). It wasn't spotless like a hotel room, but it was clean enough for me. And with 3 bedrooms, including a double/single bunk bed, it worked well for my family plus friend with a child. (And there's a pull-out bed in the living room!) The walking distance to Pleasure Point Marina was great. I would have preferred a check-in earlier than 3 p.m., but service/response from the rental office was prompt and competent. Also, the condo was equipped with everything we needed, though the phones had weird dialing. (We did get cell reception though.) I would stay again at this location.
This place had it all.

We were very happy with both the accommodations and convenience of location at brown bears den. Access to the lake and use of the private dock was great. Bike riding distance to town was also good. The condo itself was better than expected. The furnishings were nice considering it is a rental. I will be renting the same unit again

I rate the cabin fair. It wasn't the nicest cabin we have ever stayed in. The guest bed had holes in the sheets and pillow cases, cob webs everywhere and the outdoor furniture was super uncomfortable and old. We were surprised you were not allowed to jump off the dock??? The kitchen was well stocked and it was nice to not have to buy necessaties like Toilet Paper. We thought we would be closer to the Lake and there was a lot of construction when we were there...no naps for the kids with all the banging going on outside. I think we would pick a different cabin for the next trip. Read more

The stay at Big Bear Cool Cabins was much less than expected.
Left on 07/05/2011 for a stay in July 2010 | Unsatisified Customer
Our stay at Big Bear Cool Cabins was most dissatisfying. We were told we could swim in the lake. Impossible. You would've had to have a way to get through a great deal of bog, reeds, long grasses, and unswimmable lake area. I was led to believe that my unit would overlook the lake. That is the picture that was displayed on the website, and I even specified with the reservation desk person that I wanted that particular unit. I specifically selected what I thought was that unit. I only looked over a parking lot. Then, when we got there, the key was not available to use even the locked pool area, and the person on call didn't even have it at the ready. It was quite an ordeal to swim even in the lake. The staff at Big Bear did not work with us at all to remedy these situations. We were expecting a week of vacation where my teens could jump in and out of the swimming pool and lake at ease and as often as they wished. This simply was not the case, nor was the office staff willing to work with us or make it right. It was very dissatisfying.
Love Big Bear! But the Cabin was not the greatest!

The place was nice and the staff was excellent. The only problem was the owner gave the key to his relatives to use and they came early and asked us to leave. They were very rude to deal with and didn't care that we paid to rent the place. So they made us rush to pack our stuff and get out. I would try other rentals in the same complex. Most of the places have the same setup and similar prices.
