But wow, when we arrived it was even better than it looked in the pictures. I've never stayed at a property that is as thoroughly maintained as this place. Clean from wall to wall, with every ammenity you could possibly want & need. Great family vacation home!! This will be a staple home away from home from now for myself & my family. “Great RRV Getaway -- Quiet & Remote, yet Conveniently Located to” We rented this updated house for Thanksgiving. We were a party of 6: grandparents, adult children & 2 grandchildren. We stayed in the downstairs, and the kids and grandkids stayed in the upstairs 2 BR with one large bathroom (with jacuzzi tub, shower stall & sauna) and a separate 1/2 bath. The house itself has one large living & kitchen area, with an eating bar, upstairs, with a second living area and kitchenette downstairs, which has an additional exterior door). We did not realize that the upstairs & downstairs aren't connected "inside"-you have to use the outside stairs to go from one area to the other. It's not a big deal and it provided a bit of separation from the noise and commotion of the kiddos.Overall, the house updated: updates in the kitchen, bathrooms, downstairs, central heat, Wifi, etc.Yet very comfortable and quaint with electric fireplaces (no wood burning),views of the redwoods from every window & large outdoor decks. The decks wrap around the house and provide privacy if you choose to use the hot tub or sit outside and enjoy the porch views of the trees & the RR. With latching gates at the top of the stairs, it was safe for the 3 yr old.The kitchen is a bit tight, but it is fully equipped with a nice frig, new gas range, new dishwasher. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner(always a challenge in someone else's kitchen),there were plenty of dishes, utensils, service wear, pots, pans, etc. The upstairs:full bath and half bath are adjacent to the living area. The upstairs beds are very comfy, with nice furniture and finishing. The sheets and towels are all very new and fluffy. The primary bathroom is huge, with a large Jacuzzi and the separate shower. The bathroom has a zen vibe-very relaxing. The half-bath is convenient with a crowd. We walked down the steps to the river, enjoyed the scenic fall views of the RR.Fun!The owner was delightful to work with & gave us plenty of info, good directions.Very helpful!

“Perfect for a getaway!” We had a girl's weekend getaway and this was the best of our regular excursions. There were 6 of us and we all slept in comfortable beds (king, queen, and sofa bed). The house provided beautiful spots to hang out and chat: the peaceful backyard where we could smell the roses, the family room with an open kitchen and vaulted ceiling, and the totally charming tatami room. (We all took turns lying down and smelling the tatami mats. I'd heard about that, but never done it before!) The price was great and the place clean, comfortable, and just lovely. We used the savings to check out some wineries. We also cooked some meals using local produce we got from Sonoma Market (very close by). Good complete kitchen. We'd highly recommend this place.

Guerneville Cottage,Decks, Hottub! Romantic get away!

Guerneville cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Adorable Cottage in the Redwoods” We loved the little cottage in the redwoods. It was clean, comfortable, and lovely. The stove heated up the place quickly and you could open the windows to cool the place down quickly. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook, and there was a wonderful stereo if we wanted music, or a tv and dvd player when we wanted to watch a movie. The only difficulty with the property is the location. It's in a neighborhood of cottages/cabins on a very very steep hillside. We took our car that is a manual transmission and it was no fun navigating the small streets at very steep angles. Just bring your small automatic car! Otherwise, a beautiful location and place to relax.

About Sonoma County

Known for its Franciscan mission heritage, preserved wilderness areas, and beautiful rolling hills, Sonoma County draws visitors from all over the world year-round. Come here to explore the countryside and learn more about the cultivation of Sonoma County's world-class food and wine through an agricultural, vineyard, or culinary tour. While you are here, be sure to experience the elegant nightlife, spend an afternoon in a luxury spa, and stroll the quaint streets of Sonoma's historic shopping districts. No matter what your interests or what time of year you visit, Sonoma will captivate you with its laid-back atmosphere and feeling of eternal summer.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in Sonoma County:

  • Visit Jack London's Home: Jack London, the great writer of the Yukon, lived here in Sonoma County between 1905 and 1916. His magnificent house and sprawling ranch have now been preserved as a museum. Come here to tour the grounds and learn more about London's contributions to American literature.
  • Explore the Bouverie Nature Preserve in Glen Ellen: Guided nature tours are available along the miles of trails in this private wildlife reserve. Come here for quiet serenity and bird watching opportunities.
  • Visit the art and history museums: The Healdsburg Museum and the Museum of Art in Sonoma attract visitors year after year with their fascinating galleries and exhibits.
  • See live theater or dance: Attend a ballet or jazz dance performance at the Raven Theater or see a live play at the award winning Russian River Performing Arts Hall.
  • Visit Calistoga: Explore the mineral springs and witness the blasts at one of three Old Faithful Geysers in the world in the historic town of Calistoga.

Luckily, it's easy to find a vacation rental in Sonoma during any season of the year. For your stay, book a sprawling, terraced villa in the heart of wine country with views overlooking the vineyards or the ocean, or, if you'd rather be close to the heart of Sonoma's shopping, dining, and nightlife, rent a stylish apartment or condo downtown.

Retro Retreat: Cozy, Moderne, Affordable House
Had a very nice stay.

The Retro Retreat was a comfortable home. The patio was great and the outdoor terrace patio was too. There was plenty of outdoor furniture. The neighborhood was very quite . The kitchen had everything needed to even cook a full course meal and plenty of dishes. The bedrooms were all good and the bathrooms were plenty for four women. The living and dining areas were comfortable. We enjoyed the small town's many little shops. We are thrift store addicts-Judi even found a bike she has been looking for. We really liked Jack London State Park. It was the type of place we were looking for.see more
Wine Country Home On 5 Acres By The Russian River
Charming farmhouse makes for a beautiful and peaceful getaway

I rented this house drawn by the appeal of proximity to the river. But the house itself was so charming and spacious that my friends and I hardly wanted to leave. The small town of Geyserville was adorable and the fine eats and shopping in Healdsburg was only 10 minutes away. I couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate and connect with close friends. The open porch provided such a wonderful spot to share long, luxurious meals and good wine. And the owner was so great in helping us to play our stay in wine country - very responsive and organize. I would highly recommend this spot. In fact, my friends and I can't wait to return.see more

Fabulous

What a wonderful place. I knew the minute I saw Linda when we arrived we were in the perfect place and I was not wrong. Linda took the time to meet with us & gave us a personal tour of the property. Orange juice & home made muffins were in the fridge for us along with a personalized welcome note with Biscotti's, chocolates & a bottle of Perrier. Of all the places we rented on our California vacation, Sonoma Rosso was the only place where we actually met with our hosts & greeted in such a personal way. Perfectly located in the middle of wine country. One could actually walk to several wineries from Sonoma Rosso. The house is fabulous, spacious, clean, decorated with style & has everything. You'll have access to Linda's vegetable garden & the magnificent peach tree!! If your lucky, you might even have the chance to see deer, we did from the bedroom window!! Enjoy the vineyards & then come back to relax by the pool, our stay was just perfect. Only regret is not having planned an extra day. Thank you Linda & Michael for giving us the opportunity to discover your home, we loved everything about it & will not hesitate to share with friends & family who may eventually be travelling your way.see more

Everything and More

Steve and Lorri are the definition of hospitable. Before our trip even began, our hosts were very prompt and kind in their response to my questions. The house itself is only a few minutes drive away from the main road in Monte Rio, but it felt like a whole other, magic touched world back there. Quiet street, ample parking, and a lot of options for seating - from chairs and tables on the wrap around porch, to seats and picnic tables surrounding the fire pit, lounge seats under a canopy, and a cozy hammock under a fruit tree. The inside of the house had plenty of seating as well and an open, airy feel. The multiple sliding glass doors (2 of them in bedrooms), windows, and skylights made for a bright feel. The house had pretty much everything you need for a comfortable stay - games, books, blankets, dishes, a lot of baking/pot/pan options, double toaster, bug spray (zappers outside as well), great shower pressure, and so much more. Our group was a mix of adults, kids, and even a fur baby - everyone felt welcomed, comfortable, and happy. We all agreed that if given the opportunity, we’d love to stay there again.see more
Deja Blu-Magical Ocean Front Property (Beach View)
Magical Ocean Stay

We had the most splendid time celebrating my son’s 50 birthday. It was a surprise experience that exceeded all expectations. The gorgeous beachfront home was even more beautiful than pictures reflected. It was a perfect space to share music, home cooked meals, puzzles, laughter and much needed family time. The spectacular ocean view was surreal and we enjoyed multiple moments of joy watching the dramatic ocean performance. We had at least one daily hot tub and soaked in all of nature that surrounded us. I am trying to think of at least one less than exuberant comment but all I can come up with is that our visit of 3 nights was absolutely too short.see more
