Had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. No linens in kitchen, so bring your own or paper towels. Overall, home was very clean and had all the needed items. Fenced backyard was great for the kids. Didn't have to drive for them to have a great snowball fight! We would rent this unit again in the future.

This cabin is like new, very clean and great location. The TV's are plasma - real nice!
Service was excellent - very easy to get keys and drop off - good experience. -

First the good part: The staff at the rental office was very friendly and cooperative. We arrived in Big Bear after a 4+ hour journey up the mountain after a record snowfall! The traffic was bumper-to-bumper all the way in and out of town. The cabin we had originally rented was way out in Boulder Bay & my husband refused to drive backwards in the traffic we finally emerged from. The staff did a quick search and found us a similar sized cabin in the Moonridge area. All this was great and we appreciated the help.
Now the horrible part: We arrived at the cabin and it appeared just what we were looking for. Unti lwe stepped inside. The cabin had a terrible smell of cigarette smoke. So bad that we had to open the windows & doors. Additionally there was a bag of cigarette butts, beer cans trash just outside the back door. The place appeared fairly tidy and amenity-wise was absolutely perfect....it was just the incredible stench. My husband was exhausted after the long drive & he said just air it out and we'd have to "make due". We got our children into bed and went to the Master Bedroom only to turn down the bedspread to find dirty sheets! Disgusting pubic hair included!! I searched through the closets and found extra flat sheets (the wrong size for the bed & no fitted sheets) and we tried to make the bed up and we were so tired. The balance of the cabin had been barely cleaned - the floor was vacumed and the bathrooms were not terribly dirty. However the cigarette smoke smell and the dirty beds were beyond excusable. We did complain upon checking out (We stayed just two nights) and the rental staff refunded $100. off our bill. It was nice of them but really did not compensate for the situation. Our clothing, ski jackets and everything we brought to Big Bear had to be cleaned as it all smelled like cigarette smoke upon our arrival home!
In the future I will always insist the rental staff verify we are receiving a clean, smoke free cabin!!Response from Big Bear Vacations - 02/28/2009

This guest was moved at the last minute during a busy period in Big Bear. Unfortunately the only option to move the guest to was a dirty house, Had they called for Housekeeping someone would have come to pick up trash and deoderize the air in the property and replace bed sheets. Big Bear Vacations apologizes for the inconvenineces and has refunded the guest for the cleaning fee. The property has been taken care of by our housekeeping as to allow the smell of cigarettes to no longer be present. All Big Bear Vacation properties are non-smoking.

An all around great location!!

The outside of the house might appear blah, but the inside of the house is very warm and cozy. It is much larger than it appears. The lay out is such that you can find privacy. Kitchen is very well equipped. The house is bright and airy.
