Description from owner

Description

At Muckno Lodge we pride ourselves on providing charming and luxurious 4 Star Failte Ireland approved Self Catering accommodation nestled within the beautiful countryside of Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan, Ireland.

Boasting private lake views and located right beside tranquil Lough Muckno, a favourite of keen course anglers, and the popular Concra Wood 18 hole Championship Golf Course Golf Club, guests can look forward to a warm welcome and relaxing lakeside and countryside break at Muckno Lodge.

We have two cottages:

- A large spacious 5 bedroom, newly renovated original Bath Estate Stone cottage dating back to 1869, caters for up to 10 guests.

- A 1 bedroom Lakeside apartment next door, which can cater for up to 3 guests.

- Cottages can be booked separate or together for larger parties.

Visitors will experience a little bit of Irish history during their stay, as Muckno Lodge was originally a game keepers cottage built on the Bath Estate in 1869 during the Plantations.

Although fully restored, Muckno Lodge has retained it's original charm with features such as the old stone exterior which has been restored, and the Bath Estate Coat of Arms above the door.

One of the most charming aspects of the accommodation however is the traditional open-hearth fireplace featuring the old skillet pot hanging from a traditional old-style crane which has been fully restored.

Guests will enjoy a modern, spacious dining and living area, decorated in beautiful teal shades reflecting the view out onto your own private lake.

The kitchen and utility has all mod cons including microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer.

The living room has TV & DVD Player and a traditional Wood Burning stove surrounded by a cosy stone fireplace.

Muckno Lodge boasts 5 spacious bedrooms, three double rooms, one with a disability friendly ensuite on the ground floor and two twin single rooms. For convenience one hairdryer is supplied for guests.

There is one downstairs WC and bathroom upstairs.

Keen anglers, golfers and water sports enthuaists will also appreciate the wet gear storage facilities in the outhouse which also includes a fridge for fresh bait.

Guests, both adults and kids alike, will also have lots of fun competing against each other in our separate Games Room which boasts a Pool Table and Air Hockey Table as well as some oldie but goodie Board games.

Free WIFI also available.

Outside we have a spacious patio area with beautiful scenery of your own private lake and the Co. Monaghan countryside.

In addition to Lough Muckno and Concra Wood Golf and Country Club, there is a wide range of leisure and entertainment facilities nearby, including water-sports, paint-balling, go-karting, spa & wellness centre to name a few. There is also a selection of excellent restaurants and bars in nearby Castleblayney town.

“Visiting relatives”

Reviewed 17 Jul 2022

Lovely accommodation. Not exactly pet friendly as claimed due to dogs having to be in games room building which was shared with family in the 1 bed cottage. Also gates at end of driveway never closed so dogs could have escaped. Would highly recommend the cottage for a family visiting without dogs though as the accommodation and host are fab.
