Garveys Holiday Cottage

Dingle cottage

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“A wonderful place to stay in” Garveys Holiday Cottage is a great place to stay in for a company of travellers, especially if you are interested in active tourism. The cottage has a central position in the gaeltacht, so that the distances from Dingle and from Dunquin are practically equal. It's absolutely ideal if you travel by car or by bike. If not, you just have to call a taxi from Dingle, where buses arrive. As a matter of fact, there's a shop in Ventry village, and that's very close. There are quite a lot of things to do around: boat trips to the Blasket islands, horse riding, trekking, wind surfing, even swimming, which is allowed in special places (in case you don't mind the temperature). If you are interested in Early Irish history, there are lots of sights around and also a small museum in some 100 metres. Anyway, you can get a full account of activities in the cottage. The cottage itself is tidy and has all the amenities one may need (including washing machine and dishwasher) - I don't rememder lacking something for the kitchen and the bathrooms were fully eqipped. And, last but not least, the hosts - Mr. and Mrs. Garvey - are very friendly and always ready to help if their help is needed. Those two weeks that my friends and I stayed there were a wonderful time, really!

STEEPE'S PLACE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Glenosheen Near

Ardpatrick house

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Peace, tranquility, clean air and friendly people” We were welcomed by a lovely neighbour to the property who took us round the cottage and clearly explained everything and that, if we needed anything at all, she was just a short walk or phone call away. The welcome pack was a very nice and unexpected touch. The charming 300 year old cottage, which was very well-equipped with all the modern amenities, was clean and very homely, still containing personal items of the lady that had once lived for most of her life. The owner also paid a pleasant courtesy call to see that we had everything we needed. Just 5 minutes drive from Ardpatrick or 10 minutes from the larger Kildorrerey and situated approximately halfway between Limerick and Cork, this is an isolated location with little or no nightlife but rich in beauty, peace and tranquility. A perfect medicine for the stressed-out city dweller! I have only one issue - anyone over 5'4" will have to do some head-ducking when moving around the bedrooms but that comes with the charm and age of the cottage. All in all, a memorable experience which we are likely to repeat.

Traditional cosy Stone Cottage with sea views

Kenmare house

“Rustic Living” If you like Rustic, then this place is for you. Mag is a wonderful host and she made sure we felt at home the moment we arrived. The stone cottage is about 100 years old and is basic accommodation but still warm and cozy. We still had all the modern essentials such as dish washer, washing machine etc but without the time burners such as internet and cable TV. The open fire was great and the bed very comfortable. Our little hire car managed the bush track to the house and the view is breathtaking. A little hint... take most of your supplies with you as the major stores are a reasonably long drive away. Make sure you venture to Josie's for at least one meal. You won't believe how remote it is and how good the food and view are.

“Wonderful, Peaceful a home from home” We had a wonderful family holiday at this cottage. Everything one could think of was supplied. Our every need was met. It is the first time we experienced a house that thought of supplying so much even a food mixer and slow cooker. Our extended family want to go back every year. I am booking again for next year.

Brandon Mountain Cottage

Dingle cottage

“Breathtaking” Four adults wanting to have a magical holiday couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We enjoyed the opportunity to cook our own meals, have all the conveniences of home and enjoy the beach and country surroundings. Both Linda and Eileen were very welcoming and offered us the opportunity to feel completely at home in this self contained cottage. The cottage was comfortable and very clean. The view was breathtaking and the village of Cloghane/Brandon was peaceful in its surroundings yet active in its daily routine. There are many lovely surrounding villages, but you need to have access to transportation in order to visit them easily. Brandon Mountain Cottage is definitely a place to relax, enjoy the surroundings and meet friendly local people. It is on our list to return again.

“The warmest welcome.” We crossed from England to Ireland, docking at 6pm. We had a 2 and a half hour drive ahead of us, but the directions were spot-on. Easy, traffic free roads. We arrived at the village at about 8.30pm, and the lady who owns The Dispensary was waiting outside to greet us. There are no shops in the tiny village of Inch, so she'd left us provisions for supper and breakfast, at no extra charge. Home made bread and jam, sausages, bacon, tea, juice. Too much to mention. The nearest shops, pubs etc are about 4 miles away in a busy village. And a more major town is a seaside town called Youghal, just 7 miles from our cottage. The Dispensary is the best equipped holiday place we've ever stayed in. Truely a home from home. Even foil, clingfilm, all your linen including towels and bedding. Outside there is a brand new shed which is a fully functioning utility room. Washing machine, ironing board, clothes airer. The owners are not intrusive, but you are welcome to knock on their door for any directions and advice. They really enjoy their letting project. This holiday is a perfect retreat for anyone wanting peace and tranquility in and idyllic setting. We went there as a base to sight-see around southern Ireland. We loved it, but some of the journeys were epic - for instance from Inch to Killarney was a 2 and a half hour drive, before you even start on the Ring of Kerry. But there were plenty of more local sights - Cork, Blarney Castle, Cobh and many beautiful seaside towns. Well worth a visit is The Mahon Falls with it's Magic and magnetic road - look at it on Youtube. This holiday let, The Dispensary at Inch, was perfect for us. More than perfect. I can't remember what price guide it was given, but I know that at the time I believed that it had been underrated.

“A great value for money country home!” This farmhouse is situated just 2 km from Glanworth and 5 km from Mitchelstown overlooking fields and an old stone bridge across a river. A very tranquil spot and very handy for visiting Cork city and the beaches of the south. Liam and Jennifer are charming and accommodating hosts who went out of their way to make my stay extra special. My room was lovely and comfortable and the cooked breakfast was delicious. A great value for money Country Home!

“What a heavenly home!” This was such a beautiful home in a great setting. It was well-equipped with everything we needed whether for cooking, cleaning, relaxing, or sleeping. Having a washer and dryer was such a help as we were there for one week. The kitchen had everything one needed as well as the entire home. I cannot say enough about this home as it was so perfect!! The owner was so helpful and gave us great suggestions for places to eat as well as information about the area. We were a group of 5 women: 3 from the us and 2 from Denmark and it was such a relaxing place to start and end our days while there. It was so clean, comfortable, and felt right at home here. Wi-Fi was available too. Also loved the location as out in the country next to a babbling brook. Close enough to town and great to come home to such a beautiful setting. I know we all loved it here and I would recommend it highly to friends and family. And I hope to return one day.

Doolin cottage

4 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 7

“My home in Ireland” My husband and I rented "Fuschia Cottage" from Marion and Frank in Doolin Co. Clare for the months of april and May 2010. It was a joyous experience for us. The cottage was comfortable and well-appointed. We had everything we needed for our stay there. Frank and Marion were very friendly and helped explain the operation of the equipment (ie the Hob) not common in Canada. We also enjoyed an excellent meal at their restaurant in Doolin. I was sad to leave after two months and would certainly recommend Fuschia Cottage for a place to rent.

“So much space, so much wood!” The title says it all. Good modern fittings, contemporary styling. Perfect for our group of 6 (including 2 young children). A great place to come back to in the evening. And we had good weather! (August, swimming in the sea...). While the cottage isn't close to amenities, it is well placed to explore the area - centrally placed for activities, beaches, walks. There's loads to do. My only gripe - it would be nice if the back yard was a garden instead. A lawn at least...

A perfect location of a cosy cottage

The three of us have stayed a few days in this lovely cotttage which is fully equipped, with a spacious garden and stunning views of the bay at the doorstep. There are plenty of opportunities for visiting lovely places nearby. We visited Mizen Head, Dingle bay and the local Beara Penninsula (especilally overwhelming on the northern side), which was a peaceful beakaway from it all. Dan was very amiable, helpful and kind. Not to mention Harry who was a perfect match for our teenage son:). A lovely holiday indeed! Strongly recommended.see more

Fabulous relaxing stay in rural Ireland

The house was fantastic and in a great rural location to enjoy a traditional stay in Ireland. The house was well equipped and had everything you needed for a self catering stay, it was furnished to a very high standard and provided lots of luxuries. It was well connected and easy to find, visiting other parts of Ireland was relatively easy and the house was great for visiting the west coast and other parts of the countryside. Sally was a fantastic host and met us at the house on arrival to go through everything, she was also very quick at responding to our enquiries throughout the booking process and during our stay. Overall I would highly recommend the house for a luxury stay in Ireland.see more
