STEEPE'S PLACE, pet friendly, character holiday cottage in Glenosheen Near

Ardpatrick house

2 bedrooms / 1 bathroom / sleeps 4

“Peace, tranquility, clean air and friendly people” We were welcomed by a lovely neighbour to the property who took us round the cottage and clearly explained everything and that, if we needed anything at all, she was just a short walk or phone call away. The welcome pack was a very nice and unexpected touch. The charming 300 year old cottage, which was very well-equipped with all the modern amenities, was clean and very homely, still containing personal items of the lady that had once lived for most of her life. The owner also paid a pleasant courtesy call to see that we had everything we needed. Just 5 minutes drive from Ardpatrick or 10 minutes from the larger Kildorrerey and situated approximately halfway between Limerick and Cork, this is an isolated location with little or no nightlife but rich in beauty, peace and tranquility. A perfect medicine for the stressed-out city dweller! I have only one issue - anyone over 5'4" will have to do some head-ducking when moving around the bedrooms but that comes with the charm and age of the cottage. All in all, a memorable experience which we are likely to repeat.

“Adare Farm Cottege” The Cottage was wonderful. It looked exactly like the pictures. Very comfortable & was much needed to relax. The Cottage is centrally located. We enjoyed the town of Adare, very quaint. Bryan couldn't have been more helpful. We enjoyed Miller, the family dogs greeting every time we saw him.

“Home away from home” We had a lovely stay at the Fanningstown House. We had a party of 8 that was multi-generational. Everyone loved the home and the owners. The owners are lovely people who went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. The home is beautiful and immaculate. It has everything you need to feel at home. It is located close enough to town but far away enough to feel as though you are away from it all. I would, and have, highly recommend this house to anyone.

Adare Self Catering - Earl House
Adare & Earl Self Catering Home

What a great month long visit and our home away from home! The owner, Sharon was delightful and was available at all times. We also had a vehicle so we could travel and see sights that most would not see. I finally rekindled my driving abilities with driving on the left side of road. We found the cottage one of the best locations to launch day trips and overnights to cover the Wild Atlantic Way. Days were very long and made sightseeing very plausible. Our host, Sharon (owner) explained all upon our arrival regarding the house. Earl House was the perfect retreat to relax and destress from a hectic day. The Village of Adare was only 1 mile, and we quickly realized that Adare is one of the most visited little towns in Ireland. Aside from its hectic activity, we shopped nearly every day at one of the two markets in town. We highly recommend the store Londis as they have the best bakery in any of the stores and great scones. Close to Limerick, we shopped there and a lot to do. Being one of the largest cities.in Ireland and only 9 miles away, Limerick had large food stores such as Lidle, Tesco, and Centra! The foods purchased were much less in US and some of the freshest meats, dairy, and bakery items you could want. We ate at superb pubs, restaurants and of course made several of our meals at the Earl House. We had family join us for two weeks and they too found Earl House the perfect place to stay. The simplicity of Ireland is seen at every corner and the Owner of Earl House was a lovely lady. We also met her son and one of her daughters! They were so sweet and kind. It felt like we joined their family. As teachers, we all wished we had student as polite and kind as Sharon's children. Lastly, we accomplished one of our main goals, finding my mothers family roots! We drove up to a great town ---- Westport (my wife's favorite little city) and stayed overnight! What a fantastic town. Lots to do, and great shopping and people. In finding my grandparents, great grandparents, and great-great grandparents, thanks to our dear friend Roberta Donnelly Bukowski who researched for months my family history---we were able to zero in on where they were born, what the did, and a host of other information. What a treasure trove,!! It is safe to say as a hospitality expert, having traveled and worked in over 20 countries, Ireland, Adare and surrounding cities and towns were charming and populated by some of the most polite and accommodating people (young and old) we have ever met no matter where you went. My only recommendation is that Sharon needs a slightly larger sign identifying her House so that newcomers can find it more readily upon arrival. But don't let that stop you from renting this comfortable, 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom home with all the conviences of home in one of the most peaceful and quiet settings all with a very reasonable price. We will be back and Earl House is at the top of our list. John and a Paula of Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky. USAsee more

What a wonderful experience!!

We stayed at the cottage with another couple. The owner, Brian, was welcoming and so helpful. We were greeted by their family dog, Miller, who became a constant companion. What a sweetie! The cottage was charming! We built a fire in the fireplace every night and grilled outside for a couple meals. We had a washing machine and dryer which got constant use. Truly everything you needed was there. And Adare is wonderfully situated for day trips around western Ireland. The city of Adare itself is quaint and a great walking town. We highly recommend this rental.see more
Earlson Farmhouse - Adare
Perfect! Quintessential Irish farmhouse.

My family just returned from a lovely week at the Earlson Farmhouse. This beautiful farmhouse has been in the Earlson family for 5 generations and shines of irish pride and charm. Pictures can't possibly do this home justice. Each room is filled with beautiful antique furnishings and photos. It is the quintessential Irish dream farmhouse. The three spacious bedrooms were perfect for our family. We have two daughters, ages 15 and 9, and everyone had their own space, plus the wifi worked well. This is huge requirement for any teenager. We enjoyed the modern kitchen which had all the things we needed to cook any meal. The home was meticulously clean and neat as a pin. From Earlson Farmhouse's Adare location we were able to easily do day trips to the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, the Ring of Kerry, Killarney, the Muckross House and Abby, Killareny National Park and lakes, the Blarney Stone and Cork, Bunratty Caste and Folk Park, the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle, and Galway. Adare itself is a lovely picturesque Irish village with friendly pubs, delicious restaurants, and shops. As the saying goes, It really is the prettiest village in Ireland. We can't say enough kind things about our gracious hosts Dan and Anne. Each night Dan made certain we had a warm fire to return home to after a long day of touring and we are very grateful for the essential supplies Anne provided for us upon arrival. We just loved Sadie the dog and all of the cows. It was the perfect true Irish farm experience. We absolutely loved it! Stay here!see more

Cooga Cottage - your home away from home

Cooga Cottage is so comfortable, and clean. It is in a great location, and it is not far from shops, gas stations, physicians and a pharmacy. I felt at home immediately. Tom is very welcoming and a great host. He left a new container of milk for us in the refrigerator, chocolates and a vase of beautiful spring daffodils. The whole cottage is well equipped and the kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal. The front and back yards are beautiful and peaceful. I hope to go back to Ireland again and I'd stay at Cooga Cottage.see more

Picture perfect Ireland from a country view!

First off, I researched the internet for months to find the perfect place for our first Ireland vacation. I had seen pictures of Ireland and dreamed that our cottage would be all that we wanted...and it was! We were greeted immediately upon arrival by the host's adult daughter and she greeted us with a smile and warm welcome before going to get her parents. Alyce came very quickly, followed by Michael and we chatted for a few minutes before entering the cottage. Alyce showed us how to work everything (some differences that Americans may not be accustomed to) and then she left us to unpack and rest. The view was unbelievable...the cottage was only 2 rooms and a bath and it was immaculate. We were left with fire starter for the fireplace but did not use that until the next night. The cottage has a large kitchen/dining/living area combination and is decorated well. The bedroom is large with an antique dresser, a walk-in closet and an electric wall "fireplace". The bathroom is ample size with a shower, toilet and sink and a window view to the pasture and hillside that is beautiful. The deck off the living area is the best place to be! Two chairs and a table are provided for morning coffee or evening relaxing. Again, that gorgeous view of the green pastures and hillsides. We were also greeted by dogs...we LOVE dogs and were so happy to see that our hosts did, too! Freya was our morning visitor and Darcy would come by with 2-3 balls in her mouth, asking to play but not really wanting to release her toys! We were also please to see that there are cows outside our balcony. We are country people at home and this made us feel even more at home. If you do not like animals, then do not book this place and then leave a negative review about them! This is definitely a country living farm and not for city dwellers who do not like this sort of thing. Daughter Shawna was helpful with directions to a few things and we enjoyed her chats and her 2 sons. Leon is a charming teen with dimples and a ready smile. As the week went on we met the hosts' friends John and Carmel and their 3 grown children and we were even able to have dinner one night with everyone. Definitely an experience to remember for our lifetime. We got the true Irish experience!! We cannot comment enough on how much we loved this trip and these people that we came to know in 6 short days with them. We were very sad to leave. This cottage is centrally located for day trips to Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle (yes, Mark kissed the Blarney Stone!), Kilkenny, Killarney, Cork and other points of interest. We HIGHLY recommend this cottage and farm for a nice, relaxing country vacation. Be prepared to drive the very narrow country roads and ask directions from Alyce or her family before starting out on your daily jaunt! Note: the cottage normally has wifi access but due to a line issue with the server, it was not available while we were there but we were not on vacation to use our devices anyway!see more
