“Practical accomodation in a perfect location on the shore” We had 5 wonderful days here. Three bedrooms, two doubles downstairs and a large room up a ladder style staircase with two singles and a double. The house is literally on the shore line with beautiful views only 100m from the road, 20 minutes from the airport and blue lagoon and 20 minutes from Reykjavik. The house is really warm and practical not an interior design advert by any means. Its in a good location for the Golden circle and a fantastic location for the Blue lagoon (book before you fly out). We had a great trip to Solheimajokull, a glacier you can walk right up to about 2 hours away just off Route 1 in the south. We were lucky enough to see the Northern lights from the garden on our last night. This is a great place to stay for a family or even two families.

“A perfect cottage in which to feel at home.” This is a perfect cottage in which to feel at home whilst exploring the south west of Iceland. The views across the lake and to the surrounding hills are very special. It is well equipped and has a spacious living area and I would recommend paying the small extra fee for use of the hot tub after a day's trekking in the mountains or driving around the fjords. Iceland's highest waterfall, Glymur, is nearby and is well worth the walk. Haukur and anna Lisa, the hosts, are very helpful and friendly and we very much enjoyed our time in their summerhouse.

“Land of Fire, Ice and the cottage with three beagles.” We were greeted by Brynja upon our arrival and immediately we knew we had made the right decision. Before setting off for Iceland we had planned our itinerary pretty meticulously but Brynja provided us with enough ideas for places to visit and things to do to keep us occupied for a month. The cottage itself was delightful: well appointed on the shores of an Icelandic Fjord and with views of some of some of the most breathtaking scenery. Inside the cottage was no less impressive; spotlessly clean and complete with more all the comforts of home. We had chosen the cottage because of its location - an hour from Reykjavik - and had made plans to get all our shopping from the city. There is, however, a small shop 5 minutes drive from the cottage. Our stay in Iceland was amazing thanks in no small part to having this incredible home away from home.

“Bright, Spacious, and attractive” We are a family from the us who drove from Reykjavik to akureyri to stay for several days. This lovely apartment, brand new, was a joy to stay in. The owner has thought of so many things and so the apartment is well stocked, attractively decorated, and has great blinds for the windows. The area, just above and beyond the downtown is 1 minute away from "Bonus" where you will shop for your groceries. It is very quite, next door to a golf course, and has immediate access to the road that takes you both toward the east for travelto waterfalls and hiking and also back southwest to Reykjavik. Staying in an apartment is so reasonable because dining out in akureyri is so very expensive and this apartment has all you need to cook a meal. Lots of closet space is awesome. We really enjoyed our stay!

About Iceland

If you enjoy unique and secluded landscapes, then the amazing country of Iceland is a perfect vacation getaway for you. With a beautifully snow-blanketed landscape during the winter, twenty hours of daylight during the summer, and cultural attractions year-round, this island nation has it all! The biggest city in Iceland is its capital of Reykjavik, which has a population five times that of the second biggest city in the country. While the smaller and more isolated towns many not have as many inhabitants, they are home to most of the rugged scenery and the national parks that Iceland is so famous for.

While you're in Iceland, be sure to make time for some of these must-see attractions and destinations:

  • Blue Lagoon: This geothermal spa in the middle of a lava field is the most famous attraction in Iceland.
  • Pingvellir National Park: The site of Iceland's parliament, this park is full of water-cut lava fields.
  • See the Geysers: Iceland is home to a number of geysers, many of which erupt every five minutes or so.
  • Jokulsarlon: Known for its crystal blue waters, Jokulsarlon is the largest glacier lake in Iceland.

Although Iceland is best known for its landscapes, the country has a big arts scene which is reflected in its year-round events and festivals. Visit during October and attend Iceland Airwaves, an international music festival showcasing the top new bands from Europe, Iceland, and the U.S., or the Reykjavik Jazz Festival, an event where top Icelandic and international jazz musicians play as long as it's light out, leading to an almost non-stop three day party.

Luckily, no matter what time of year you plan to visit, you'll have no trouble finding a vacation rental in Iceland. Whether you're looking for a spacious villa with all the comforts of your own home, an apartment in the middle of Reykjavik and next to great dining and shopping options, or a cabin in one of the more remote parts of the country, there's a vacation rental in Iceland that's right for you.

Cozy Mid-Century Modern 60's Villa in Reykjavik
Wonderful accommodation for Family with room to relax

This family-friendly house was perfect for us. The layout and bed setup met all our needs. Siggi was wonderful to work with, very accommodating in answering all our questions and offering us an itinerary to give us a sample of Iceland's sights. Upon arrival, we met Siggi's father who showed us the house and explained where everything was. Siggi suggested we include the night before our arrival in our rental period so we could check in as soon as we arrived at the house. I highly recommend this to anyone who's arriving on an overnight flight. It allowed us to rest for a few hours before going into Reykjavik . The house is in a great location. If you choose not to rent a car, the #14 bus stops right out front and takes you into downtown Reykjavik within 5 minutes. There's also a heated swimming pool/spa a short 5 minute walk down the street. We thoroughly enjoyed our time!see more

Penthouse apartment with a great view
Lovely apartment. Wonderful hosts.

This lovely apartment provided everything we were looking for during our 14 day stay in Reykjavík. This was our third visit to Iceland and we had gotten to know Reykjavik well. We had our choice of locations and picked this area just a short walk to the lake, the center of the city, and Hallgrimskirkja. It couldn't be more well located. The apartment was immaculately clean and well cared for. It was comfortable, spacious, and picturesque both inside and out as it offered a stunning view of the city and beyond. Our hosts were gracious, welcoming, and available. They responded quickly to our communications prior to our visit, allowed us early access to the apartment upon our early morning arrival, provided us with written and verbal details about the workings of items in the apartment, and responded almost immediately in the few instances where we needed to be in touch with them. We would consider returning to this apartment if available on our future visits to Reykjavík. I cannot recommend it more highly.see more

One bedroom apartment, car incl. In Seltjarnarnes.
Irelands best kept secret!

Our stay in Siggi's apartment was just what we needed for our 3 night stop over in Ireland. Siggi makes it a totally stress free holiday with him picking us up at airport, and touring us to a couple great spots on the way to the apartment. The apartment was very comfortable and the location in Seltjanarnes was wonderful with the Ocean less than a block away. There is great walking and bicycle path that borders the Ocean for miles. We were less than 5 minutes from grocery store which was also the location for our small group day tours with GeoIsland (Sega). Siggi also lets his guests use one of his vehicles with gps . We were able to drive only a short distance to view the Northern Lights . We are not golfers but there is one within walking distance. We felt like part of the community and wish we could have stayed longer. Thanks To a wonderful host who kindly delivered us back to the airport for return home to Canada.see more
Garður, Restored house in old part of town
Very nice place to go to.

First we like to thank the owners for the hospitality (we never met or talked,so couldn’t thank them personally). During this stay with our family of 7 we never had a problem, everything was perfect. The location Stykkisholmur is fantastic. The boys loved the pool, the boat trip to Flatey, the unloading of fish in the Harbour. We loved the practicalities: great for touring Western Iceland, the closeness to supermarket and shops, the local museums.see more
