With all the comforts of home, School Street House provides a genuine one-of-a-kind holiday experience that you just can’t get anywhere else. Happily situated in Canada’s loveliest little province of Prince Edward Island, School Street House feels just like your favourite Aunt’s place!

Fully equipped and serviced, School Street House has all the necessities of a 9 room house plus high-speed wireless internet connection, cooking/dining utensils, linens/blankets/towels, on-site laundry facilities, television wi...th dvd player, stereo, record player, barbeque, picnic table, lawn chairs, old-fashioned clothes line, private treed yard, off-street parking, house/groundskeeping service and 24 hour staffing as required.

With it’s handy location, School Street House is just a skip away from everything including theatres, galleries, historic sites, churches, repertoire cinema, shops, restaurants, seafood pound, farmer's market, parks, harbour and trails yet it's only a 5 minute hop in the car to the golf course, 15 minutes to the beach and 25 minutes to Anne of Green Gables House! Being based in the Province's capital makes for easy day trips to all parts of the beautiful Province of Prince Edward Island.

Night at the Museum: School Street House is not only a guest house, it is a living museum filled with stories, historic photographs and artifacts. Some vintage treasures for music enthusiasts include a 1936 model Hammond BC organ with a Leslie 125, an 1880’s Thomas pump organ and a 1940’s record player. The furnishings and floorings date between 1900-1960 and antique china displays adorn period cabinets. School Street House is an honest to goodness old-time dwelling steeped in history and preserved since the turn of the last century.

School Street House is a House with a Heart as Mark Twain spoke of his beloved home in 1896, ' 'We never came home from an absence that it's face did not light up and speak out it’s eloquent welcome -- and we could not enter it unmoved.'

Like a Message in a Bottle: Children's signatures discovered on an old plaster wall behind a hundred years of paint and wallpaper revealed that School Street House was the 1904 birthplace and childhood home of world renowned marine botanist, Dr. Constance Ida MacFarlane. Dr. MacFarlane is credited with putting PEI on the map as the “Irish Moss capital of the world.” Irish moss, a form of seaweed, is a major source of carrageenan, commonly used as a thickener and stabilizer in processed foods and products, including ice cream, beer, wine and toothpaste.Read more

Rates based on 1-4 guests. We accept VISA, Mastercard, American Express, certified cheque, money order or cash.
$200.00 fully refundable damage deposit due upon check-in.
Deposit for 50% of total is required with reservation.
Should you cancel less than 8 weeks prior to your arrival your deposit will not be reimbursed unless the house is rebooked, in which case your deposit will be refunded less a $50. CAD service charge.

  A home away from home!
  
  As a first time visiter to PEI, I was looking for accommodations that would mirror the warmth and charm of the island, and I found what I was looking for in School Street House. This clean and comfortable little historic gem helped me to unwind briefly after a business trip. I plan to return with my husband for a longer stay next time to explore Charlottetown and surrounding area, and look forward to sharing with him the wholesome sense of unhurriedness inspired by this home and neighbourhood.

  Nice house with lots

  Had a great stay. People were wonderful . Location is a short walk from downtown Charlottetown. I recommend a bike ride on the trails of the island.
  The house is restored beautifully with orignal painted oil cloth on some of the floors.
