Highland Village, Texas, United StatesRelaxing honeymoon retreat
Left on 06/01/2013 for a stay in May 2013
The Sanctuary of the Rose was an amazing place to stay for our honeymoon. Besides being in the perfect location--close to all the fun, tourist attractions--and the amazing views, Ann and Chuck's hospitality made the place the awesome retreat that it was.
Ann thought of everything! The house had every amenity we could ask for as well as a pack of brochures with nearby attractions and restaurants.
We definitely recommend the sanctuary and will return at the first opportunity! -

The Sanctuary is a great affordable place to stay! It is close to the major hiking attractions. Ann does a great job keeping this a peaceful, beautiful retreat! We had a wonderful time! Ann was also very accommodating with our requests - letting us check in early. Overall, we had no issues and will be back again, when the time allows! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet romantic getaway! Gorgeous and beautiful!

Left on 12/26/2012 for a stay in November 2012
We could not have taken a better trip or asked for a better stay for our 20th anniversary! Ann thought of everything! The cottage was decorated for Christmas, with a anniversary gift under the tree, brochures where to eat and where to go, what to see and what to do, etc. We will treasure this trip forever! If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the Colorado Springs area, the Sanctuary of the Rose is a must! I would recommend to all my friends, family and anyone that is looking for the perfect get away!!!

Cute home right in the mountains. Ann is great - very accomodating and helpful and has left 'no stone unturned' (coffee for the coffee maker, stemware and bottle opener, etc.) to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Very knowledgeable about the area and the place is full of books, maps, etc. Would go back in a heartbeat!

The Sanctuary is a beautiful little place in a terrific location for hiking, relaxing, visiting Colorado Springs or Manitou. Hummingbirds greeted me at the door when I arrived. The Sanctuary is close to many beautiful trails including Garden of the Gods, Open Space and Catamount trails. Ann was incredibly helpful and provided many resources to help me plan activities. Communication prior to my stay was outstanding. Perfect for couples or a solo trip like mine --I would definitely stay here again.

Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012
The Sanctuary of The Rose was a perfect spot. It's near all the sights in the area and a real refuge from a day of sightseeing. It's a special place with a spiritual groundedness; comfortable & warm. Ann's (the owner) hospitality is evident in the details of the casita as well as her assistance with any questions about the local sights/dining. Comfortable furniture, plush pilllows and bed, very attractive structure inside and out. And the labyrynth circle just outside the house really helped us to center ourselves. All this at a cost less than one of your same old, same old hotel rooms!

I just want to say that my stay was just wonderful. Words can't express how much fun I had. It's peaceful, rustic, elegant, quiet, full of life. If you want to stay in a clean, quiet, peaceful, single unit, the santuary of the rose is the place for you. I have told 4 people about it already. I'll be back.

Left on 03/28/2012 for a stay in March 2012
The Sanctuary of the Rose was everything I wanted and more. The guest house is beautifully kept and in a great location surrounded by the mountains. It was very peaceful and the birds could be heard singing in the surrounding trees. The accommodations were great, but the best part of my stay was the Labyrinth that guests can use to walk, meditate, or just enjoy. It is an excellent location to use as a retreat or as your base as you explore the many attractions in the area.

Ann was great! She was very responsive and was there at a moments notice. She is extremely helpful and willing to make pre-planned arrangements with you. My whole trip was exciting and everything went according to scheduel. The Sanctuary of The Rose is a peaceful retreat where you can really take in all the peace and serenity you need. And with the mountain view, it is truly an escape from everyday life. The Sanctuary is cozy and comforting. I enjoyed my stay and highly recommend the Sanctuary of The Rose as your vacation destination if you ever find yourself in Colorado.

33412Recharge, relax and escape at the Sanctuary of the Rose
Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2011
The Sanctuary of the Rose is a beautiful adobe in Cascade, CO. It has all the warmth a cottage could have. The space invites you into a peaceful, tranquil environment. Our stay was over the Christmas holiday and the cottage was decorated with holiday decorations, making it feel like a home away from home. There is nothing sterile or cold feeling about the Sanctuary of the Rose, you instantly feel welcome. That's not just due to the tasteful plush accommodations, but also because ann, the owner, is such a gem. She makes you feel a part of the family, with a warm welcome and the offering of any area advice. Being winter when we stayed, the fire was a great way to keep warm on the cold evenings and the selection of coffees and teas made it so cozy. The bed was very comfortable and the attention to detail for a travelers needs was impeccable. If you forgot to pack a book, movie, CD or even board games, its all there just begging to be used. We missed out on the outdoor labyrinth due to snow, but will be back to walk the path when the snow melts. I cant imagine a more peaceful setting for a long weekend. I highly recommend the Sanctuary of the Rose for a perfect romantic getaway or a quiet recharge away from the bustle of the city. Thanks again ann for making our Christmas so memorable!

Springfield, ILGreat accommodations; beautiful view
Left on 12/26/2011 for a stay in November 2011
The Sanctuary of the Rose is an excellent stay for one to two people. The adobe house has a sitting room, bedroom, bath, and abbreviated kitchen (no sink or stove). The owner has thoughtfully provided upscale coffees, teas, etc., plus lamps on both sides of the couch and the bed (for dual readers), night lights, local books and information on local restaurants, sights, and attractions, comfy throws, and gas fireplace. There was nothing we needed that was not already provided. The adobe style is carried inside via colorful tiles in the kitchen and bath. We visited in November so did not take advantage of the outside patio or labyrinth. The view is of the mountains, and it's wonderful to look out in the morning and see the sun shining on the peak. The Sanctuary is easy to find following the provided directions and is about six miles west of Colorado Springs. This is a restful and very comfortable place; highly recommended.

The Sanctuary's quiet, peaceful setting in the pine trees of the Rocky Mountains is a perfect get away for rest and rejuvenation. The carefully designed labyrinth set in the woods next to the cottage is inspiring and a perfect place for spiritual pursuits. The cozy Sante Fe cottage is decorated with careful attention to detail and gives the feel of "just for you". We felt so rested after our stay.

My husband and I were looking for some rest and relaxation and we definitely found it at The Sanctuary of the Rose! This guesthouse is truly a home away from home. The view of Pike's Peak right outside the door is breathtaking. It is very peaceful at this guesthouse, but yet you are minutes away from Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. Ann and Chuck are wonderful, gracious hosts. We truly enjoyed our stay and can't wait to go back.

Atlanta, GeorgiaA calm and peaceful relaxation retreat.
Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This is a quiet, peaceful off the beaten path respite that is ideal for a time of reflection and relaxation if that's what you're looking for. Its also a great spot just to stay and wind down at the end of the day if you're in the area for other events or activities. It's close to areas for shopping, eating or playing with ample information available for whatever suits your needs. Ann and Chuck have gone out of their way to make it comfortable and welcoming. The decor and amenities are just right without a lot of over-the-top kitsch. The labyrinth just outside your door adds to the overall calm, spiritual nature. I highly recommend the Sanctuary of the Rose as a retreat from the hectic, stressful world in which we live.

Left on 04/02/2011 for a stay in October 2010
This adobe guesthouse is smack dab in the middle of everything you come to Colorado to enjoy; the mountain views, the tall pine trees, the whispering aspen, and great hiking. The location is perfect - away from the hustle/bustle but just a short drive down the pass to the Springs. The accommodations are private and spacious, the bed/bedding top shelf, a large living area with comfortable yet authentic decor, a well stocked kitchenette and a plethora of reading and entertainment options. Several great restaurants are nearby. I plan to may the Sanctuary for my annual Colorado getaway for many years to come!

Quiet and secluded from the hustle and bustle of the city so you can enjoy the mountains and wildlife but close to the city when you want to go and enjoy it. Owners are very easy to work with. Chuck and ann are the sweetest hosts that anyone could imagine to have! The accomodations were great, the cleanliness was fantastic, and the adobe felt like our home on our stay. It is decorated beautiful! We even saw a deer right outside our door when we were there! There is a hummingbird feeder outside and we saw them feeding! They are located in a great spot for visiting all of the Colorado Springs attractions, such as Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods! The stay was the highlight of our vacation and I would recommend this to anyone traveling in the Colorado Springs area!

Castle Rock, COThis beautiful retreat truly nourishes the spirit.
Left on 03/26/2011 for a stay in July 2010
We truly felt rested and renewed after two nights at this lovely retreat just outside Colorado Springs. This simple, adobe guest house from the 1930's, has been lovingly nurtured into a new role by ann Benson and her husband, Chuck. We found many reasons to be both surprised and charmed by the many thoughtful, small touches. Everything works to nourish the spirit in this intimate space.
Physical needs are also attended to thoughtfully. We found plenty of water, supplies for making tea and coffee, and -- most important of all -- a bountiful supply of dark chocolate awaiting us!
We found this to be a lovely spot in which to relax amidst soaring pines and awake to fresh mountain air, with two very sensitive hosts who understand and honor a need for privacy while attending to the small details that turn what could simply be a nice place to stay into a true respite.
We recommend The Sanctuary of the Rose highly.
