Description
At the end of the beautiful tranquil Stewart Creek Valley, a 10-minute scenic drive beyond Daintree Village, lies this peaceful 30-acre haven alive with over 140 species of seasonal tropical birds and butterflies and filled with tropical gardens, rainforest, more than 20 varieties of exotic tropical fruit trees and easy walking trails.
Three modern, very private self-contained, air-conditioned bungalows have views over rainforest and wetlands-dam from their verandahs. Each has a similar open-plan layout - two have a queen bed and one has a king and each has a futon sofa for a third guest.
Each has an ensuite bathroom with large shower, kitchenette with cooktop, microwave, fridge, coffee maker and cooking utensils. A timber dining setting and comfortable sofa and 'papasan' chair complete the furnishings in the living area which leads out to a private deck, complete with table and chairs.
Nearby in The Shed, an historic old timber building, there is a barbeque and warm jacuzzi spa and a range of books and games and a dart-board.
A daily complimentary tropical breakfast basket is delivered the previous afternoon - tropical fruits (including home-grown exotics), juice, cereals, home-made jam and yoghurt, coffee and locally-grown Daintree tea. Other self-cook meals and drinks are available for purchase and there are several restaurants in the Village, 8 km away.
Designed for couples, or a maximum of 3 adults (there are no facilities for children under 12) the bungalows are perfect for that romantic getaway or a quiet interlude during a busy holiday.
The property is a birder's and nature-lover's Paradise with a constantly-changing variety of birdlife – over 140 species have been identified on the property – magnificent tropical butterflies and a variety of wildlife including wallabies, bandicoots and turtles.
Peace and tranquility without mobile phones, TV or radio reception – but if you really need to keep in touch free wifi is available in The Shed.
Daintree Valley Haven was established in 2000 after hosts Peter and Daphne bought their overgrown 30 acre property in 1997 and now they enjoy welcoming visitors from all walks of life and from all over the world. Guests' privacy is very important to them but they are always available for advice and assistance should it be needed.
Far from the hustle and bustle of the city yet within a short drive of Daintree Village, Mossman Gorge, Cape Tribulation, Port Douglas and the Atherton Tablelands.
