    Additional Location Information

Matagorda is noted for it's great beach, fishing & birding. You can drive on 20 miles of beach. Fishing, shelling and birding is always good. This is not like Galveston with herds of people. The only herds are cattle that you may see behind the beach grazing on winter grass. There is a cattle drive each fall to bring the cattle to the beach and again in the spring to return them to their summer home.

Very awesome People To Rent From

Left on 02/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Right from the beginning of us deciding that we would rent from John and Kim she was awesome and helpful! We rented Condo #2 for 1 month in December 2012/January 2013 and we loved it. You have all the accomidations as home without all the stress and struggle of packing everything. I ended up leaving some items and contacted Kim right away and she was more than happy to mail the items to me, which by the way, thank you sooo much! Also, having the beach access right there was awesome for me and my daughter and boyfriend to take walk on. We picked tons and tons of sea shells! Overall, I thought the rental was very nice and functional. I would definately love to go back one day!

Unique and Secluded Tropical Island on the Texas Gulf Coast

Left on 12/28/2012 for a stay in December 2012

We were looking for somewhere new to stay in Texas on the Gulf and were going to try Galveston, but luckily we found the Matagorda Dunes Condos on Matagorda Island before we made our reservations. I inquired about the condo and was pleasantly surprised by a phone call from a very friendly and professional owner who gave me information about Condos 1 and 2. We decided to give it a try because I was really impressed with the owner, Kim, and it was a great decision. The condo was super clean, and everything you could possibly need was supplied. The view from both decks was awesome and included the lagoon and the Gulf Coast. You could hear the sound of the waves day and night. The beach is only a few minutes away and it was clean and beautiful. The birds such as the pink Spoonbills, Seagulls, Egrets, and Pelicans could be seen not only from our deck on the lagoon, but also in many numbers on our drives up and down the beach. My husband and I are hesitant to recommend this place because we want to keep it all to ourselves, but that wouldnt be fair to anyone who has not visited this very unique and wonderful island. We cant say enough about how nice the owner Kim is. She was there from day one to all answer questions, and was basically 'on call' the whole time we were visiting there. A plus also were the three restaurants on the island, gift shops, and a grocery store only minutes away from the condos as well. Do yourself a big favor, contact Kim and stay at either of the condos at Matagorda Dunes. You wont regret it, in fact you will count the days until you can return.

      Quiet and tranquil

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in February 2012

We were looking for a quiet place to get away from the cold winter days of Minnesota. We found what we were looking for here in Matagorda Texas! Waking up and having our morning coffee on the deck overlooking the lagoon that was filled with a variety of wildlife gave us that tranquil feeling we were looking for. Just a short walk over the dunes to the ocean for our daily walks on the beautiful beach was a dream! The accommodations were a bit dated but comfortable and provided us with everything we needed for comfort! John and Cam were very accommodating and responsive to any concerns or questions we had. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone!

      Awesome

Left on 10/15/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Very nice place, affordable. Owner is very easy to get ahold of and easy to work with. A touch far from the beach when your walking with kids/toddlers but good for adults. Very close to the pool. House was well stocked and everything was exactly how it should be.Dish Network is a huge plus!!! Wifi/High speed internet is a great feature!! I would deffinetly recommend this property to my friends.

      Wonderful Weekend in Matagorda, Texas

Left on 05/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We visit Matagorda at least once a year, usually in mid-May before the holiday. We enjoy the solitude at this beach and the quaint surroundings during that time. Matagorda Dunes is perfect for us. We appreciate the security, and like the design of these beach houses. The breezes and the sound of the ocean is relaxing.

I've heard holiday and summer weekends bring more guests into the Matagorda area, but our weekends have always been quiet and serene. Our family loves going to Matagorda each year for some fun in the sun and fresh seafood. Also, it's a bird watchers paradise. We saw a Rosegate Spoonbill early Saturday morning, and fish were jumping in the lagoon in the late afternoon. It was a great weekend, and we'll continue to return each year.
