Purpose built, Black Fern Matakana is located between Warkworth and Matakana, on a 3.5 hectare site, 2/3 of which is covered with native bush including Kauri, Rimu, Totara and Puriri trees. Close to Matakana and Omaha Beach, (yet less than an hour from the Auckland Harbour Bridge), Black Fern is perfect for a relaxing holiday, entertaining, small business retreats, and wedding accommodation. With spectacular 360o views of the native bush, the valley and vineyards below, the Lodge at Black Fern features a spacious floor plan with four ensuite bedrooms. The fully equipped kitchen is a foodies' delight! The heated swimming pool is surrounded by landscaped gardens with easy access to the outdoor entertainment centre with its gas BBQ grill, fully equipped kitchen, sitting area and gas fireplace. The open plan living area with vaulted ceiling boasts spectacular views over the neighbouring Ascension vineyard and hills beyond, a 50" wide-screen high definition television with DVD player and Sky TV and a built-in gas fireplace. The kauri wood dining table can accommodate 12 people and the large kitchen area features a gas cooktop and eat-in bar. The spacious master bedroom also has panoramic countryside views, a large HD TV, and the master bath has 'his and her' basins, an enclosed shower and a bathtub. All bedrooms have king beds and private access to individual decks.The “Barn” is a separate fully self-contained cottage with its own king size bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living area. It can be rented in addition to the Lodge, (but not on its own) to bring the sleeping capacity up to 10 people. Free wireless high-speed internet is available throughout the property. Response from the owner This is all very surprising and disappointing as your family seemed very pleased with their stay. The housekeeper had met with an accident and I, the owner, met with you as you arrived and showed you all around the property, answering any questions you had. The heat pump problem was sorted within 5 minutes and there were no more problems. I called to let you know about the satchel left behind and drove back into town to arrange a courier to get it to you quickly, at no charge to you. There was one phone call from you and one from your hotel to give me the address. I then called them back to give them the tracking number. Your characterization of events is misleading and in fact untrue!
