Description

A superbly located apartment in the equally superb small, Provencal market town of Uzès.

On the first floor, (of 2) you have the town on the one side and on the other there are lovely views over the historical valley of Eure where the Romans built their conduit for the magnificent Pont-du-Gard.

Lots of lovely walks wind their way through the valleys and hills all the way to The Bridge.

Little bike routes too if this is your preferred mode of transport.

The apartment is around 53 sq.m with a terrace for sunny breakfast & dinners under the stars.

Bi-weekly markets take place in the now well known Place aux Herbes, just 150m walk away. Here you also have the many little cafés and eating places which invite you to dawdle over a coffee and watch the world go by. (A much favored past time of many guests.) Summer evenings can get quite lively with all the outdoor restaurants in full swing.

Uzès itself is a true gem of a little town albeit with a rather turbulent history. Happily this is of the past and the quiet, winding streets now meandering through town reveal an artistic life and dedication to the good food of which the region abounds.

Buses (very cheap) run from Uzès to Nimes, Avignon and assorted villages around. In the summer there is a special beach service to the Mediterranean.

Getting around

If you have read the preceding sections, you will also have read about the various means of transport. Some guests prefer to stay around 'home' though others are interested in seeing the maximum of sights in the area (to do it all you would need months!) Again, I'm happy to point you in the right direction according to what interest you.

Interaction with guest

When you arrive, I will usually be there to meet you, just to say hello and show you what's what in the apartment and answer any questions you may have. As I live in the area, I will always be available if needed by phone or e-mail. I have just installed a key lock in case someone arrives very late and also to drop keys in on departure. Having been in Uzès for 20 years, I do know the area quite well and am happy to provide information according to your interests, just ask.

Simply to respect the neighbours and not make noise.
A small dog is no hindrance, just let's discuss it before.
Smoking ONLY on the terrace please.
Remove parasol & chair cushions from terrace and close doors & windows before going out. Sudden stormy downpours do occur and can cause a lot of damage.
