The apartment type accomodations are very clean. They offer everything you could need for a quiet vacation: kitchen with stove, microwave, full fridge, cable TV (just in case you are stuck inside due to rain), private deck with picnic tables, chairs and gas grill. The owners are very friendly and go out of their way to help make your stay memorable. The beach is only a 5 minute walk away. The Stanhope area offers plenty of beaches to walk on and paved trails to walk/bike. If you enjoy the outdoors (we happen to be birders), this is a great place to take in the sights and sounds of the ocean.
The owners were so hospitable our vacation was enhanced by them.

I had stayed in these same cottages last summer, and was pleased with their cleanliness and accessibility to the beach, so felt comfortable booking another stay there this year, as although they are under different management, thought I knew what to expect. We received so much more. We were a group of 5 adults, and one of our party is in poor health and rather frail. The owners went well out of their way to be helpful, gracious, and kind. It was a generosity of spirit that was so nurturing to our group, and we were very grateful for this unexpected kindness.

We've stayed at these these cottages for 6 years now. We love the location--a short stroll down a shady, red dirt road to the beach, yet just a 20 minute drive to the bright lights of Charlottetown. The Jays are like family and I suspect we'll be back next year.

After a family wedding in New Brunswick, my wife and I joined family members for a week at Stanhope Cottages. Our two-bedroom cottage was extremely clean and included all the kitchen and other essentials. Susie and Mervin were wonderful hosts and helped to make our stay memorable (notwithstanding the worst summer Susie said she had seen in their 16 years at the property.) I would definitely recommend this as a great location and comfortable lodgings.
Great time in Stanhope

The cottages are clean and include all necessary appliances. Full house keeping unit;all you need to add is your own food. Courteous owners to answer your needs. Good living space but beds are small and one was not very comfortable. The sofa bed could use a firmer mattress. The location is the best: everything is 5 min away: walk to the beach, drive to the golf course as well as a beautiful walking/cycling path. If you prefer a beach with amenities, only 5 minute drive from the cottage. Fresh fish at the harbor is in walking distance and all the beach you need. This cottage offers a good size patio with BBQ - large grounds well maintained. This was our 2nd visit and would definitely go back and recommend to friends. Very safe and friendly.
we had a wonderful time

the cottage was very nice. We liked the play area, and having a washer and dryer there was great. We brought our laptop, so the wi-fi was nice to have as well.
Have a great time.

Very happy with our accomodations! Started with a warm welcome and some great tips from Susie! Then to a clean well equiped cabin within a short walk to a beautiful beach. Would recommend this location to a friend!

This was our first time staying at Stanhope Cottages, but our third time to PEI. The cottage was very clean, fully stocked (minus food) and very comfortable. Bbq and utensils were also supplied. The staff was excellent and very helpful. The road leading to the cottage is not the easiest to find, but the directions we received were perfect and we had no trouble finding it. Also the information on the grocery, banking and liqour stores was also very helpful as there is no corner store nearby, but a great restaurant not too far. If we plan on returning to PEI I would not hesitate to stay at Stanhope Cottages.

Just can't say enough about Stanhope Cottages! The Jay family always make you feel right at home. Cottages are spotless and well equipped. Great to be able to walk to the beach rather than driving and trying to find parking in the lot. We will definitely be back. We have and will continue to recommend Stanhope Cottages to anyone travelling to PEI!!
well stocked and very clean!!

My sister and I travelled to PEI to see the Royal couple in July 2011. My sister had stayed at Stanhope cottages in the past and had recommended to me that we stay there again because of the service and great accommodations...
Upon arriving at the cottages we were greeted by one of the owners Susie... She was very friendly and very accommodating...had us checked in within minutes.. Showed us to our 2-bedroom cottage... which was one of the cleanest cottages that I have ever stayed in... the best part other than being very clean was that the cottage had everything available in it from a full stocked kitchen of dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, etc... Just had to add the food... We even had our own BBQ and attached private deck. The cabin had extra blankets, pillows, towels etc. We were provided with brochures and information on the Island as well as perfect directions to get back and forth... and the beach was just a few minutes walk...
I love to take photos so the owners provided me with information on the most popular areas to take the best pictures. The owners also took the time to give me some history on the Island... I just cannot say enough good about Stanhope Cottages... It is by far the best place I have ever stayed...
A big thank you to Susie and Mervin Jay and their two daughters Nevada and Carlie for making our 4-day stay in PEI so enjoyable... I plan on making another trip to PEI in the next couple of months and will be staying at Stanhope Cottages... and recommend to anyone visiting the Island and not sure where to stay, this is the place, you will not be disappointed...
A great place to come back to after hectic days

We were very pleasantly surprised at how nice the cottage was. The driveway in from the main road could leave one wondering, but upon arriving, any concerns are gone. The owners are good people and extremely accommodating. Being close to a national park and the north shore are major pluses.

We wanted a nice, peaceful and relaxing vacation and this was the spot! Our cottage was clean and comfortable. The property was well kept and beautiful. The warm hospitality we received from Susie and Mervin was great: it was like visiting with old friends. The beaches, harbour and bike paths are close. Did we mention that this will be our eighth summer visit in a row.

I have stayed in the Stanhope area for 6 years now an happened upon Stanhope Cottages via a work colleague. It was very affordable, but what made the stay was the excellent service. Susie and the team had everything you needed (and may have forgotten at home!) The units are very well equipped, and even have books ready to read, right on your nightstand! You will want for nothing if you chose her lodgings.

What a great location, beautiful surroundings with very clean and comfortable cottages. We stayed at Stanhope Cottages while attending a hockey school in town. It was great to have a laundry faciltity and deck to dry the hockey gear. The location is close to great beaches, great golf and go carts - which our son loved! Susie (the owner) was great!

Stanhope Cottages is a great place with an excellent location, just a 5-min stroll to the beach and centrally located within the island.
It has a wide open area with a playground, which is perfect for children and teenagers. Although there is not much storage space in the rooms, the living room and kitchen are large enough. The owners Susie and Melvin make you feel at home and help you relax and enjoy the time there. We will definitely consider staying in Stanhope Cottages again in our next visit to PEI.

We've stayed at Stanhope Cottages every year for 5 years now. We look forward to the short walk down a shady red dirt lane to an unspoiled National Park beach every morning. The cottages are clean, modern, and impressively well stocked--even coffee filters are provided! The Jays treat you like family.
Great place to stay!

We recently stayed at Stanhope Cottages. It was wonderful. It was clean, neat and tidy and had everything we needed. It was great for the kids because the beach was less than a 5 minute walk and the cottages had a great play area. Our own family of 4 stayed here and another family stayed in the other half of the duplex cottage. It was great that we could remove the divider on the deck and have one big open deck. We can't wait to go back!

This is our third season with the Jays at the Stanhope Cottages and we enjoy every minute. From the check in to the end of our vacation nothing could be better. The Jays make you feel at home and a member of the family. The cottages are roomy and clean with the beach only being a 3-4 min walk away. Our children enjoy staying with the amenities being right there for them. If you have any questions they have the answers for you. We would highly recommend them for other families wanting to have a relaxing vacation with everything available to you at a reasonable price.
