“Lovely beach holiday In Biarritz”

Reviewed 25 Aug 2019

We loved our apartment, we enjoyed our living space and the choice of dining indoors or on the balcony. The bus stop into the town centre was really close by and we made good use of the artisan bakery opposite our apartment building. There are plenty of parking spaces, our favourite beach was Milady beach which is less than 5 minutes drive. If going to the city centre beach then we recommend using the bus.

“Great base in residential area with lovely sunny terrace”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2018

We spent two weeks here. It’s a little way out of the centre of Biarritz - perhaps 20 minutes walk - but a regular bus service goes past the door and can get you to the station, Bayonne, Chambre d’amour beach and Biarritz town for 1 Euro including changes or 2 Euro for a 24 hour pass, which was extremely useful and great value. There’s not much in the way of bars or restaurants close by so you have to go into Biarritz for these but there’s a supermarket a short walk away and a splendid artisan Boulangerie immediately across the road which we used a lot. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable and the terrace is great to sit out on especially in the mornings and evenings. There was reliable Wi-fi throughout which we made great use of. We were also especially well looked after, by a local, on arrival and this was welcome after a difficult train journey.

“Ideal home base in Basque country”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2012

This bright, airy second-floor apartment was my home for the month of January and I liked it so much that I plan to return again next year. Besides being within walking distance of the city centre and the beautiful Bay of Biscay beaches, there were two nearby conservation areas, each with a little lake in the middle. Also, the gardens around the apartment are well maintained. Through the Biarritz Bayonne Anglo-French Language Group, I met local people who invited me on hikes, to parties, and to dinner in their homes. Some are now my Facebook friends and others are in e-mail contact. Bus passes are cheap, and the buses run frequently and to the neighbouring towns of Anglet, Bayonne, and Bidart. There's a great walking-tour guide named Andy Fisher in Bayonne, and there are inexpensive day trips, by van, to the Basque villages, to the traditional starting place of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, and to San Sebastian. Buses stop right outside the apartment building and there's a very popular little bakery right across the street. I'd be happy to send photos and further information to anyone who'd like to contact me at: pacornell@sympatico.ca Spending January at this sunny apartment in Biarritz was the perfect escape from winter in Canada. There were even women and children swimming in the ocean. (The men were mostly surfing in wetsuits.)
