Our reviewers say that the best thing about our cottage is that it is a real home from home as well being perfectly located for a short stroll to town along the picturesque Bideford Estuary. Our home is fully equipped with lots to keep the children entertained and is comfortably furnished. It is practical for dogs too, with hard flooring laid throughout the spacious downstairs. There is a little courtyard which is a complete sun trap. The driveway has space for one car and there is plenty more free street parking nearby if Outdoor games such as cricket, badminton and racquet games are supplied for guests' use.
There is a beautiful park (Victoria Park) with a lido for young children which is only minutes away on foot towards the town centre. Or you can walk or hire bikes to go along the nearby Tarka Trail. Only 2 miles away is the lovely little sandy beach at Instow. There are also 3 surf boards and 3 body boards at the cottage that guests are welcome to use if they want to go 3 miles up the road to the great water sports beach at Westward Ho!, or both Saunton Sands and Croyde are nearby.
Riverbank Cottage dates from the 1890's and is a stone built terraced cottage in a row of former Estuary workers' cottages. Its position is unique in that this quaint cottage is only a 10 minute walk along the Estuary from the centre of Bideford and yet it is situated in a very quiet no through road set away from the hustle and bustle of the town. All the pubs, restaurants and shops are an easy level walk from the cottage, with some of these delightful venues overlooking the estuary.
Sleeping 4-6 in two bedrooms plus travel cot and high hair available, this characterful cottage has a welcoming log burner in the spacious lounge which is well equipped with toys and games as well as TV, DVD player and Wii console.
There is a separate dining room with a dining table that seats 4 - 6. The dining room features an attractive stone fireplace; there is a double sofa bed available for extra guests (please note bedding / towels not supplied for sofa bed or travel cot). NB Using the sofa bed may restrict numbers around the table unless it is put away during the day.
The kitchen is equipped with washer dryer, microwave, electric oven and gas hob. Included for your stay is all bedding, towels, washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels. The kitchen opens out into a little court yard with a patio table and chairs; there is a barbecue available for guest use too.
Upstairs is a master bedroom with a king size bed and an extra TV. The second bedroom has two single beds which can be made up as a king size bed if required, along with a DVD player. The bathroom is spacious with a bath and power shower over the bath. The cottage is warm and comfortable with gas central heating, constant hot water by way of a combi boiler plus the log burner.
We do not charge any extra for gas or electricity.

“Great 2 bed house with cute courtyard. Incredibly clean!”
We had a fantastic time in this little house in Bideford. Really close to the river path so you can have a little paddle. Victoria park is great just 5 mins walk and 10 mins cycle from the tarka trail. Please please visit the awesome pirate ship cafe next to the park.. on board! It has very old amusement games and great fish and chips. House is impeccably clean and cosy. Everything you need. Great games.

“Everything and more”
We LOVED this cottage! It was perfect for our family of 5 (kids of 9, 7 and 4). The cottage provided everything you could ask for and more - from the wii computer console to the surf boards, from the games (for all the family) to the adult book selection available to borrow... The cottage is perfectly located with a 5 min walk to the local park, 5 mins by car (or 15 min walk) to the Tarka Trail and 10 mins by car to the lovely Westward Ho! Beach. In-laws live in Torrington, so we will definitely be returning to Riverbank Cottage on our annual trip to Devon! Thank you
